1. Robert (or Rob?) bought some Planet Waves patch cables from me. Totally smooth transaction and a friendly guy to deal with. Rob (definitely Rob)
2. Tons of great pubs appreciating rock covers down in Devon too. When I lived there I was gigging twice a week with my band.
3. Patch cables now sold.
4. I'm trying to shed a lot of unwanted gear and other stuff at the moment and the following items are now available and I'll invite PM offers on them. Over 50 US Bass Player magazines from the late 90's to present day in various conditions from immaculate to a little dog-eared but mostly of a high standard. Obviously not a complete set but there are still tons of great interviews and woodshed articles. Due to the posting weight, I think these would have to be a collection or possibly a reasonably local meet-up. Guitar School Bass Fitness (An Exercising Handbook) by Josquin Des Pres I still use a lot of the exercises from this book and it came in handy a few years back when I was practicing with a band in a shed on Exmoor in December! The Bass Grimoire by Adam Kadmon Professional reference too containing thousands of diagrams, charts, illustrations and fretboard patterns along with clear and concise theory and instruction. Jimi Hendrix Axis Bold as Love guitar, bass and drums tab book. Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland guitar, bass and drums tab book.
5. Yeah, apparently Enterprise Studios is on Charing Cross Road. If London is where they're located it's a shame as I'd have loved this gig.
6. Bass Guitar for Dummies is actually a really good book - despite the off-putting title, it's very well written. If you have it already, I recommend you start working your way through it. I've also found the Inner Game of Music very useful too, but it's not really about learning to play bass as such.
7. All PMs replied to, I'll have a think about the Pitchblack.
8. Having decided that pedals don't seem to be the way forwards for me, coupled with needing to get some cash together, I've decided to part with the following: Boss ODB3 £SOLD Bassballs USA £SOLD Again, pretty much perfect and comes with box. Has also lived on the pedal board but has had the feet removed and velcro . I believe the feet are in the box, but I would have to check and confirm this. It also comes with the connector that converts it for a Boss type connection for your pedal board power supply. Gator Pedal Tote Bag £SOLD Gator power bus g bus 8 £SOLD Bought separately from the bag from P-T-P, power supply and all leads included. Planet Waves Patch Cables £SOLD All prices include postage. Pics etc will follow at some point this weekend. I also have a Korg Pitch Black tuner but haven't yet decided whether or not to sell it. Edit: I'll sell it for £SOLD
9. +1 on Josh being a great bloke to deal with!
10. I had a four string version of this and have always regretted selling it. Good luck with the sale Josh and with moving out!
11. There's a similar looking Sterling in the FS threads: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...t=0&start=0 Why it's still available at only 650 notes is beyond me.
12. As someone else commented, it'll be a lot easier to find new personnel if you have gigs already booked - especially if they are paying gigs. Get advertising.
13. I much prefer active anyway. :snob:
14. I would also add Gumtree, Joinmyband and Musofinder. I like Partysounds a lot.
15. A good jazzing may be misinterpreted so congratulations on your choice of instrument that night.
16. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask him to commit to the gigs if you haven't found a replacement by that time. If I left a band I would do the same and have done in the past. It would be better than backing out of the gigs altogether which would potentially affect the credibility of the band. Guitarists aren't that hard to find though so if you start looking now, I'm sure you'll have one in place soon enough.
17.
It's a bit of a shame, that whoever ends up buying it probably won't play it a great deal if at all. Almost certainly not out of the house - would you take a £10k bass to the studio or <shudder> a live gig? I'd be worried to take the thing out from behind the alarm rigged plexiglass in case I put a greasy thumbprint on it.
I reckon that as a gigging musician, if you could afford ten grand for a vintage bass, you'd probably not be gigging at the Dog and Duck - unless you were just loaded and gigged for fun of course. On another bass forum I frequent, Flea was criticised a while back for daring to be a big rich rock star and owning and using a similar bass to this one. Or was it because he put a sticker on it? I forget! Personally though, I understand why people want these instruments but I prefer mine to look and feel brand new.
18. Barbican, sounds tropical. Good luck with the sale. I'd consider it myself but it's around my birthday and I'll be a mess on the Sunday.
19.
May just be a typo? He has the best rated feedback for a seller and he's not claiming it's 60s.
"I doubt you'll find many vintage guitars or basses in such good condition, grab this while you can." I'm always willing to give the benefit of the doubt but I honestly can't see how it could be a typo.
20.
my vote would have to be this:
This would be my choice too.
21.
The Kangol works for Samuel L Jackson. Maximum cool points already, I'd give that a go
He tends to wear it backwards though so it wouldn't really help with the stage lighting problem.
22.
What about Flanker's Tec Puma head that's up for sale here - bet that's a cracker.
I had a go on this when I was trying out his Barefaced Compact. I've been using a MB SA450 for quite a while and the Puma really turned my head with the amount of warmth in the tone.
23. Not quite the same but I always remember what someone said to me in that if you're late, it implies your time is more important than the other person's. I'm not saying I'm never late, but I'm always pretty damned apologetic. I remember trying to audition a singer once who when we called her because she was late, said she was just around the corner and would be there in five minutes - she never showed!
24.
I received this case (big deep 'Musicman' logo moulded into the case) with a Sterling inside and it only stayed with me as the deal I struck at the time meant that relative values indicated that I kept the case... but it is defo moulded internally for a smaller Sterling body!
Well hey, I certainly wasn't questioning you. Good luck with the sale.
