1. I don't like undermining for sale threads, but I also have to agree that if you search online you can find them for around £220. That's not to say it's not a good bass, because I had one and it was great, it's just that I sold mine for £160, I believe. To be honest, I'd pay another £20 for brand new, just for the untouched pickguard and the fact that I have comeback with a retail outlet if there's something wrong with it.
2. Astonishingly good price on the SA450 for what is a much, much better head than the LMII because of the extra EQ'ing and the fact that there are two speakons out. Gigged with mine last night and still loving it.
3. I used to have one of these and it sounded great paired with a TE 1x15 but it also sounded pretty fine with an EA CXL112! I agree on the compression, I'm not usually a fan but it works very nicely.
4. I'm totally going for one of these when I've scraped together the cash after my most recent trip to the US. I saw a funk band bass player using one at the Key Club on Sunset and he had the funkiest, soupiest tone!
5. Great price on the iAmp and if I was on the lookout for a head, I'd probably go back to one of these. I would be careful about using Parcelforce though, as if you check out their website, they offer very limited liability for lost or damaged goods and it would in no way cover the value of these items.
6.
This is an amazing cab, got mine yesterday and played it full whack stuff went everywhere with how much air this thing moves. and weighs less than a average 13 year old!! cant believe iots not gone yet. If i had the cash i would take this myself for a huge 2x15 rig. good luck
I have two and have never been happier with my rig. I have to say though, that I very rarely need to gig with two because one is man enough for most situations.
7. Are they the DR Black Beauties I put on it? I forgot how great they look against the maple fretboard.
8.
This might help: http://www.911tabs.com/link/?4349421 Learn the root changes first, then put in the bits between the changes. Sounds like standard disco fodder to me.
Thanks Pete, I've pretty much got it now as I made a breakthrough last night. However, I'll still be checking it out the link. :-)
9. No-one? Repeated listening is getting me there but it's having the time as I was rehearsing with one band tonight and will be recording with another tomorrow night. I forsee some very late nights this week.
10. Does anyone have tab for this or perhaps just know the chords? I've been trying to work it out for an audition I have and it feels like my hearing has shut down as I just can't make out what is being played. Not only that, but it fair old races along too. All help will be gratefully received! :-)
11. These are great basses! Since I bought mine last year it has firmly overtaken my MM Sterling as my main bass. The necks are simply amazing! I'd almost be tempted to own another one.
12. Hi Moos3h, I'm potentially pretty interested but is there any chance you could put some pics up? I just want to see what minor play wear and pickguard scratches look like before my GAS gets into full flow.
13.
an all-original 1966 daphne blue fender mustang in near-mint condition with lollypop tuners & creamy pearl pickguard
Could you be a little more specific?
14. Any kind of Warwick Streamer - I just love the body shape.
15.
I see the 'ladys' are well catered for!
"glass of white wine or a fruit based drink for the ladies"
16. I'm finding it really hard to focus on the instrument but I guess anyone would if they attempted consume what was behind it.
17.
More importantly: Ex- Dead Kennedys drummer!
This is true. To be honest, I hadn't got a clue who he was until I got back home and looked him up.
18. I met him in September as he and a band he was playing with were rehearsing at my friend's rehearsal studio in Santa Monica. He was playing with DH Peligro (ex-Chilis drummer) and Rocky from Suicidal Tendencies. They were all really nice guys and the music that was coming out of the room was great - the smell coming out was pretty potent too considering they'd been asked not to smoke in there! Apologies for the name dropping.
19. I'd just like to agree with several others that this likely to be a one off situation and I am sure an amicable solution will be reached. I'd also like to share my experience of the two Compacts that I feel I was lucky enough to wrestle from the grasp of two other BC members. I have found them to be very, very robust and the lack of any real weight means that on a one-cab gig (which is often due to their output) I can walk from car to venue in one journey. I have not found them lacking in bottom end at all but neither am I noticing any mid-range scoop and although a different model to Rob's I would probably say it's the mids that I love the most about them. I have used them in a rock\metal band, a funk band and a ska band and coupled with my SA450 I have been able to produce the kind of tones needed for all of those styles with no problems.
20.
Wow! Thanks Mark, that's a pretty detailed review. So have you done away with the Compact for the PC's then? I'm presuming a 4 ohm PC 212T would be more than adequate as a one cab solution, and save me 5kg on the Schroeder 410L that I have at the moment?
I was reading this thread knowing that Mark had just acquired two of these very handsome cabs (pun intended) thinking that I should point him to it when I found that he'd already given quite an extensive review. I was the person who gratefully relieved him of his Compact and I'm more than happy that now I have two they could probably handle any of my gigging situations. I have to say when advertising pays a big chunk of the upkeep of most of these publications these days, that they dare give a lukewarm or bad review of any gear.
21. It's still better than any UK bass mag I've ever read. I used to read Bassist too and it made me feel embarrassed to play what came across as clearly an idiot's instrument played in very simple fashion by the likes of Guigsy et al. Obviously Bass Player has to pander to their younger readers by interviewing the bassist from the current "big thing" rock bands but there are still enough decent articles. I admit that it's not as good as when Bill Leigh was editor but it's still easily the best out there.
22. I don't have it either but l have a ton of them from the early to mid 90's - when it was still good (IMHO).
23. I've just started playing with a reggae\ska band where it's clear to me the drummer hasn't a clue how to play those styles, so I totally feel your pain. I'm afraid my solution is going to be a him or me scenario though - perhaps you're not quite at that point yet.
24. I have genuine love for the people in my bands but I've known most of them a long time, I guess I must be lucky.
25. I'm sure anyone who's dealt with Mark previously will agree he's a top bloke. Good luck with the sale Mark and £350 is a bargain indeed and it looks pretty much immaculate in the pics - is it sitting on top of a Purple Chili cab in pics by any chance?
