  1. Assuming it is the same as my Deluxe PJ it's an 18v active pre-amp with 3 band EQ, pickup balance and master volume. The small toggle is the active / passive switch.
  2. I'm sure there are loads of YT vids for this but Elixir have a series of videos that talk through bass set up step by step. This one is focussed on truss rod adjustment. If nothing else it will show you how to measure the neck relief to see if an adjustment is needed. In the manual for my guitars this is suggested to be done after every string change, especially if you are changing gauge.
  3. Basschat has become the source for all my new musical finds.. the recent ones that stick out include: - Electro Deluxe - The Foals - Jamiroqui, not a new discovery but they passed me by at their peak. Stuart Zender's baselines on the early stuff is great.
  4. What I did like was he didn't focus on what strings, amps etc are being used but emphasised how much playing style, use of dynamics (ghost notes etc ) and note choices contribute to the overall sound; that's what I got from the video anyway. Being a fairly inexperienced player in an amatuer covers band I've found myself thinking of late how faithful I should try and replicate sone of the classic Rock Tones - this video gives me some useful reference examples to go after.
  5. Haha, I use bass guitar as a distraction from the nonsense of my kids.
  6. A 1*12 cab is already pretty small , you won't get a combo much smaller so how about a compact head to pair up with it, something like the TE elf?
  7. Thanks for this. Sticking to roots and fifths and working with drums is also good advice :).
  8. I believe this is 100% the issue, both in my listening skills and being analytical in approach to resolving problems. I will definitely take this advice on-board - seems like an excellent thing to practice identifying song key centre and their associated chord progressions
  9. I also treated myself to Hyper Luminal for Christmas. I'm running similar settings though currently have the FET mode selected. I need to play with the other two compressor models.
  10. +1 for strings direct, one of the few mail order companies i've never had a problem with. Great customer service, not had many issues but when I did resolved super quickly with no hassle.
  11. I was introduced to these guys via Basschat a while ago. Still listening.
  12. Currently £16 on Amazon, all be it with a 4-6 week estimated delivery time. I just ordered :).
  13. Thanks @Al Krow - @dave_bass5 let me know if you are thinking of moving on your Q Strip ahead of Dec 31 23:59
  14. Ben just bought a GK cab off of me. Very friendly guy to deal with, great communication and absolutely no hassles with collection and payment. Cheers Ben!
  15. NPD for me today, since Santa didn't bring it I ordered myself the DG Hyper Luminal compressor. 2019 feels like a long 12 months,. I'm GASing for a Vintage Deluxe and a Para EQ ☹️☹️
  16. That was a really interesting Interview . I'd love to see a Dark Glass chorus, but I really respect him for not just putting a product out there for the sake of it.
  17. I never liked HMV stores and their online shop was equally dire. However I do feel for the 2000+ employees that are suddenly going to be out of a job.
  18. Agree to the extent of debating Ernie Ball vs. D'Addario vs. Elixir round wounds. But I do think discussing whether a player uses flats vs roundwounds Vs steels is valid, especially for a newbie like @stewblack 's 'friend' as they do have different tonal properties
  19. Withdrawing from sale whilst I get a Pre-Amp issue looked into
  20. I love Joe's playing but I've never been in love with his tone. To me he sounds much better on the latest Vulfpeck album, Hill Climber. Less nasally and harsh to my ears.
