1. Sell your thumb, buy a battered old fender precision, best bass sound I ever heard live was Raging Speedhorn and the bass player was using a well used vintage fender P and the bass sound was so dominant and thick it just cut through everything and it really gave the sound some serious balls, you'll probbably lose some of the growly mids you're getting from your thumb but it'd thicken out your sound with plenty of low end woof.
2. I like most of their stuff that Ive heard. They're huge in Germany (unsuprising) and they pretty much pull massive crowds wherever they play (including here when they do) just be warned if you do decide to use Pyro make sure its all officialy over seen by a qualified fire safety type person because I remember reading a story about a band using pyro in some club a while back who managed to set fire to the whole place and burn it down.
3. I like this quote -"This bass model has been praised by many of today’s leading bassists and has therefore become resurgent in its quest to re-establish itself within a highly competitive market". To re-establish itself? when was it "unestablished"?! Im pretty sure that the jazz bass remians the most popular type of bass to date.
4. Basically anything with a decent set of jazz or humbucker pups. generally precisions sound a little too chunky with not enough mids or highs for a decent slap that cuts through the mix. An active will give your tone a little more clarity in most cases. See if you can score a secondhand musicman sub or a nice mexican or japanese jazz, If im right there was a modded mim jazz in the for sale thread on this site.
5.
That's a lot of chat for not buying my bass. Cheers Chaps
Keeps your post near the top though eh?
6. I find flea to be very a creative and musical player and I find his style of aggressive slap playing to be quite unique (or at least it was towards the earlier stages of his career) and I had no interest in picking up an instrument until I heard the basslines on Blood Sugar Sex Magic so he single handedly inspired me to pick up the bass. I also like Justin Chancellor from Tool, I think his basslines always sound original, creative and he has great tone. Les Claypool because....well.....because he's Les Claypool.
7.
'.........Isn't that regarded as hijacking someone elses' thread??!!
Yes it is, there was a discussion about this sort of thing a little while back. JimH thats not on you've got your own for sale thread, theres no need to try and pedal your gear on somebody elses.
8.
Here's a pair of bumps: This can make it's way to Harrogate if you're interested in checking it out. The bass not the bumps!! Peter
Best bump in the history of basschat ever
9.
y'know I never did reply to this. If someone came to pick it up (Kings Cross), what £80 or exchange for a pedal or something?
I could well be interested in this I live near kings cross, any chance of a picture?
10. I played one of those sledgehammers in Denmark street a while back, I have to say I was really impressed in terms of playability and tone
11. Ped, why have you not bought this, we all know its your sole responsibility to purchase all Vigiers that appear on the for sale thread,

13. Lets be honest here, the only people likely to spend that amount of money on a bass guitar are either seasond players or people who are well aware of what sort of a bass would go for that sort of money. So he's wasting his time.
14.
I do worry when sellers claim to have owned something for so long and they can't get basic info correct!
Especially given the value of the instrument, if were to spend that money on a bass guitar I'd want to know the fine details on the spec
15.
The Dobbins boys showing off their education and sh*t hot sales techniques again. Is the it? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=34166&hl=
I shouldnt laugh but that made me chuckle for little while
16. A bargain for sure, mid 90's qualifies for vintage nowdays http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-FENDER-JAZZ-...A1%7C240%3A1318
17.
I'm not sure that the seller has tried to sell it to the next highest bidder yet... has he?
Sorry I should of been a little more clear, I meant ended the auction and offered it to Shonks, either way my comment about him being a slimey tosspot still stands as his story about trying to recoup his money is b*llocks, he was out to rip somebody off.
18. If I buy this, will she drop it off by any chance? prefferably in that outfit.........
19. The fact this fella, even after being caught out and admitting to selling a fake, would still offer it to the current highest bidder at nearly 400 quid knowing full well its a fake just shows the guy is a slimey tosser trying to get what he can even after being exposed as a fraudster.
20. This guy is clearly a chancer he knows full well its a fake, I hate low life like this
21. I cant stop watching this, awesome tone, awesome technique, and I like how he changes between slap and fingerstyle and puts his own spin on the bassline, some of his fills make me go wow! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RchAWnAO-BY&NR=1 Easily one of my favourite players on youtube.
22.
I have just messaged gareth about this, unfortunately not for the first time.
This is the first time Ive read tht ad, and gareths link has been removed, out of curiousity may I ask what the link was? Thats a stunning stingray btw, I dont usually go for the natural finish on a ray but that is gorgeous, good luck with your sale sir.
23.
You serious Kev? Not read the news lately?
Nope, I'll go and search for it now , shockwave, THANKYOU for typing in CAPS, it makes certain WORDS, so much EASIER to UNDERSTAND doesnt it?
