  1. Fantastic pictures there VType, those valves look great
  2. Fabulous jazz, I was only joking about the colour earlier on 😁, thanks
  3. Welcome Furnance
  4. That’s really lovely Walshy, congrats 👍
  5. Lovely mr B 👌
  6. Even I know sunburst sounds best
  7. That’s a beauty, thanks for sharing, wasn’t that a custom colour back then, how does it sound and play
  8. Thanks for that, great bass GLWYS
  9. I remember a similar listing too
  10. I can do everything I want on a 4, and all mine are real basses
  11. Not always nilo 😁, but I think the VI was in the 1961 catalog as new , I’ll check
  12. 4 string precision in 51 I think, the 6 came in the 60s
  13. Really liking this band’s cover versions , great voice and playing
  14. I switched to 5 strings for a while and quite enjoyed it, I didn’t find myself using the lower notes much even playing reggae but some basslines seemed easier to play going across the board as opposed to up and down, I’m glad I did it but at heart I prefer 4 strings , I also like my 70s fenders which are fours
  15. I’ve just been through all my parts boxes and can’t believe I haven’t got any, surely someone on basschat must have a few for you
  16. You got some fabulous basses there, thank you for sharing, can I ask how would you compare the 63 and 64 , is there much difference
  17. Wow, really like that, an amazing pair
  18. Oh my, that’s a stunner and all original 👌
  19. Not many of those around , I don’t think I’ve ever seen a first year one in the flesh, I translated the description, 1st year of production of the Fender Jazz Bass -Slab Board / Stack Knobs -Serial number: 57229 (Pre CBS) -Date of the handle: 10-60 (October 1960) -Date of potentiometers: 1376039 (I.e. 39th week of 1960) -Body date: 8-60 (August 1960) -Blonde Finish original (unfortunately the former owner started removing the paint and fortunately it's stopped!). Without it, this bass would be worth double. -Truss rod works perfectly -Original case: Brown tolex/ Orange interior -Delivered with the 4 original mutes (very rare), the 2 silver microphone covers and original Fender strap. -Professional repair: Surface crack on the head, tuner E repaired (see photos). This is unfortunately common in some early Fenders. -Prised and professionally settled by "Southside Guitar" (Vintage Guitar Store of reference in the USA) -Invoice and Certificate provided Its incredible, Jaco's model...
  20. An early one from Ziggy Marley, he sounds so much like his father, nice Bassline on this
  21. I think it’s been altered too much for you to put it back as original, S8 is 78 sometimes up to 81, really nice looking fretboard there, I’d be inclined to get it fretted (I don’t play fretless) and have the electrics you like, I’d remove those chrome caps at the bridge too, not an expensive project to get it how you want and it’s a very nice bass
  22. If it’s just for playing at home and you like the colour scheme and paintwork I don’t see any problem , you could have anything on it, but to use it live somewhere I think people will see it as possibly making a statement of some sort ,even though you’re not, nice bass btw
  23. That’s really nice 👌
