I've changed strings 52 times, learned something along the way
Reggaebass replied to Sida79's topic in Accessories and Misc
I don’t think it’s crazy at all, I only use flatwounds so I change my strings about every 15 years 😁, but about 5 years ago I went on a string quest , to try as many flats as I could to see the differences, which was expensive and time consuming, but totally worth it, unless you experiment with different ones you’ll never find the ones you like, after all ,it’s a big part of your sound , I’ve spent many a night trawling through BC strings for sale 😁 -
It took me a long while to find a tone that I liked with my active basses, sometimes I spent longer messing around with the settings on the amp and bass than I did playing, but when I found it I made a note of it, also small increments can make a big difference, just tweak away until you are happy

Many thanks for this, I remember Black Echoes well, and I bought ,king tubby meets the rockers uptown when it came out, and I’ve still got it now
-
That applies to every bass I buy 😂

The way I see it is ,if it’s a reasonable price and it will hold it’s value and it’s something you like then you’ve got nothing to lose 🙂

Have you looked through here, Chris has some excellent music 🙂

It doesn’t have to be in English to be good, does it?

That was my first thought, I’ve never really tried to play like this and he’s talking you through it while he’s playing, amazing -

Not if you take it easy and don’t hold the gun on for too long

If you’re near East London I’ve got one your welcome to borrow 👍

I’ve stripped a few jazz bodies which were poly and imo, the heat gun is the best tool, don’t hold it on for too long, you will see when it starts to bubble and just scrape it off, wear a mask or do it outside if you can 🙂
