Reggaebass

This got me looking at his new album , so I listened to The Essential Anthology again and being a big Matumbi follower from when they first started I also looked at what Dennis Bovell had produced , I recognised that first track but from a remix, I think this is the original from when he was in Matumbi but doing other things at the same time, as he went under a few different names like 4th Street Orchestra, African Stone, Dennis Matumbi, the one I’d like to hear is his dub version of Joshua Moses Africa, here’s a few of his others and here’s another which is probably better known as A Little Way Different, probably one of my favourite Basslines and dubwise ,around 77 the B side of blood ah go run

Found a picture on talkbass and apparently it’s marble wood fingerboard on an Alder body with a passive 10 position Tonestyler

I know what you’re saying, but I don’t think they look that bad , I quite like the moollon precision’s but really can’t do that headstock

I couldn’t find exactly what wood was used on the fretboard, it’s on their custom gallery, I think there’s something about it on facebook but I don’t have it

Out of curiosity I enquired about these, they certainly make some lovely basses, especially the precisions , unfortunately their P basses only come with a 44.45mm vintage nut , which is a little wider than I prefer, and they are $4400.00 , here’s a few I like

Those tracks sound amazing, the third one reminds me of Joshua Moses Home, I’ll definitely be looking into that cd or album, is it available yet , it was mentioned on reggaeville but I haven’t seen it

I’ve got a pretty good idea what my basses are worth and that’s around the price I would sell them for, if they don’t sell for what I think then I just keep them, if someone wants to buy it and try and make more money then that really wouldn’t bother me, I suppose shops have overheads and bills

That’s cool, sounds ideal For me even my oldest ones haven’t changed much over the years, maybe mellowed a bit so I can’t see me changing them, I like heavily played in strings so they will probably outlast me 😁

I’ve used alcohol wipes before and they came out well, I’m not sure about lighter fluid, that sounds a bit scary to me

Good you’re getting on well with them fretmeister, they do the low end very nicely don’t they, I’ve had some of mine on for many years and they still sound really great, if ever I sell a bass I always take them off and put them on my new one , I’ve tried most flats over the years and they are the ones I prefer, the only ones I’m itching to try now are the Olinto signature flats but haven’t got around to getting any yet
