  1. Thanks for posting this and the YouTube videos, enjoy 😃
  2. Saw the Ed Friedland video last week, thought it looked interesting but expensive so I made one, 10 mm strip of 15mm self adhesive neoprene rubber (the sort you use under pickups) cut 3/4 depth with Stanley knife at 19mm centres with a bit of fibreboard on it as I didn't have any other thin wood to hand, took 5 mins, does the job, could experiment with widths and depth and widths of cuts to get different tones and use a nice bit of wood BassDirect have them £30 plus postage 😲
  3. What a gentleman Stuart is, I bought a used set of D'Addario black nylon tapewounds from him, shipped out same day over a bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately the D string had shed its nylon tape; I contacted D'addario and found it's possible to get a single to make up the set which I've got on order from A Strings, but Stuart reimbursed me for the whole set - can't beat that for service above and beyond, many thanks
  4. James bought my Tanglewater bass in super quick time, paid for immediately despite not being available to receive it so it was nearly a week before I sent it out, many thanks for quick and easy sale

Steve kindly sold me a great price Nux Loop Core pedal, super friendly service , excellent pedal and some wonderful samples left in the memory just for fun; figuring it out still, shame the manual isn't properly formatted on the Nux website but managed to print out a copy that was readable to help me out; many thanks
  6. I'm sorry but something has come up which means that I won't be able to attend, have a great time, hopefully there will be some pics and news of you having fun afterwards
  7. Used, standard 8 hole fitting Telecaster guitar scratch plate, 3 ply black, white, black, to suit standard neck pickup hard to show the scratches but suffice to say has been played and shows it in the right light but looks fine and black at anything over arms length so if your guitar is used it looks right includes postage, thanks for looking
  8. Richard sold me very reasonably priced pair of books, quick dispatch and well packed, thank you
  9. Octave, 790179, June 1987, Llanfyllin sorry I don't use twitter or instagram Si
  10. FYI I quit the course as it was beyond my understanding and it's not framed in a 'from known to unknown' manner and the conversational format whilst occasionally insightful and interesting doesn't work for me as a teaching method. Gary has spent a lifetime getting to where he is musically and there will be plenty of musicians who could take something from the course but I think Scott sold it too heavily as been good for everyone. If it was a real face to face course at a college you'd have to prove that you had the chops and basic knowledge and understanding to be able to enrol, in order to not waste the tutors time or set you the student up for failure, but in the internet educational model it is open to all who can afford without regard to ability/motivation/time/outcomes
  11. Just received email Your Amazon.co.uk order of "Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful..." has been dispatched I ordered it 27 December so looks like I just squeezed in on the available copies on 2nd print run 😃
  12. 2010 built Overwater by Tanglewood Aspiration Artist model 4 string bass guitar, fitted with TI Jazz flat strings, in decent used condition, body excellent, a couple of very minor marks if you look for them, a few minor dings in the back of the neck which has a nice easy playing satin finish. It's had a very minor fret level and polish and the rosewood fingerboard has been well oiled both when I bought it and cleaned and set it up with the TI flats and subsequently. I just haven't been playing it since I bought the Maruszczyk which I subsequently traded for a MIJ 57 P Bass so it is surplus to my requirements. This is Tobacco Sunburst or Honeyburst finish depending on your view of the colour, it's a lovely ash body, and a nice solid 6 bolt fixing neck that is a sort of halfway between an old school Precision and a Jazz in size and feel but with good dusty end access and 24 frets. On my luggage scales it weighs 4.46Kg that's 9lb 13oz in imperial. It is an active bass, with a Jazz type neck pickup and a MusicMan style bridge pickup, controls are volume, pan, treble and bass and the volume has a pull bright function. Typical Overwater design, this model was meant to be £600 when new, but I think it's fair to say the world in 2010 wasn't flush enough for a bass that was a bit different and same price or more expensive than a MIM Fender and most of them probably sold for less than £500, but they were pretty well regarded at the time and it makes for a great value gigging active bass or taster/cheap backup for the Overwater design. The bridge and machine heads are good, the pickups are potted with a copper mesh for shielding, the active electronics can be tweaked internally for volume of each pickups. The rear cover plate is foil lined black plastic and that has warped due to body contact over time, a well done wooden one would be a nice upgrade. Asking price is starting price for negotiation, a lot less than it owes me, and includes UK normal areas courier shipping in pictured old hard case which isn't pretty but is functional as I have replaced the missing catch with a new Allparts one, if you don't want the case I can discount the price a bit and I'll ship it neck off. If you want to come and try it out here in Llanfyllin you are welcome to, I will be around over the bank holiday weekend and generally anytime. Overwater Aspiration Artist Series ¤ Body - White Ash ¤ Neck - 3 Piece Maple, Natural Satin ¤ Fingerboard - Rosewood ¤ Frets - 24 with 19mm String spacing (34" scale) ¤ Strings - Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats 43-100 guage ¤ Tuners - Gotoh Style Mini ¤ Nut - 40mm ¤ Pick-Ups - Overwater "MM/ J Set" - Active 2 Band ¤ Controls - Volume (pull bright), Pan, 2 Band EQ, ¤ Finish - Gloss Trans Thanks for Looking
  13. That looks to me like it said Crafted in Japan so 2002-2004 build
  14. Thank you for posting this, really interesting to see what can be done
  15. Paul sold me a preloved set of Elites flatwounds, all good, thank you
  16. I am expecting it to be more generic, lesson one is his mastering the fingerboard technique which I believe is in one of his early books. It's not a fretless course, I think he's using a fretted bass in the first lesson
  17. perhaps if an item is bumped by the OP then instead of the poster of the last post being shown in the right hand column it changes to 'bumped' so you don't go and look at it thinking that someone whose opinion you maybe trust/like/value has added to the thread and so it's clear that it's just the vendor pushing it to front of the shop window (again) Ped once advised me that one shouldn't bump until your post gets beyond page 5 because buyers generally look that far back, browsing rather than using search, for something they really want but at the moment with people bumping every 48 hours and so many unsold items that can easily happen in a couple of days and so many sales seems to be driven by shiny object GAS rather than need/want or informed desire Re the OPs item for sale I don't think I have even looked at it so it's either something I don't need or want or more likely I couldn't afford even if I did, but GLWTS
  18. Hi please can anyone with a Fender factory fitted '57 on Precision bass give me the position of the fixing holes say relative to the ball end of the bbot bridge - there's a template from Fender for the Jazz bass but I've had a good Google and I haven't been able to find the comparable P Bass information anywhere - I could email Fender but probably quicker to ask you all, thank you
  19. Mike bought a few tools from me, all good, best wishes and thanks
  20. Brendon bought a Jazz body from me, swift payment and great comms, top BCer, many thanks, enjoy
  21. Scott hasn't been on here since June 6th last year when he posted or reacted to the thread about SBL, and he didn't come back to tell the story of the stolen bass recovery either - I guess he decided not to waste any time or emotional energy on here getting/dealing with negative reactions and concentrate on doing what he needed to in the 5 days a week he spends on SBL whilst also spending time with his family and moving home etc... Talking with Mark at Bass Direct recently he said he doesn't come on here or other bass forums - I guess he meant TB, either, probably for the same reasons given the vitriol that sometimes seems to pour forth on here I can understand why; it's partly why I don't do facebook instagram, twatter or other types of social media they are home to too many toxic people. When I first came on here (from Google search looking for information) it seemed pretty chilled and friendly but I'm not so sure now and it seems a lot of good and interesting people no longer post here
  22. Dave bought my modified fretless J&D mini Jazz bass, great comms and quick payment; I hope to see and hear him play it when I next go to Ireland, cheers
  23. I signed up for it yesterday, invested the money I made from selling a bass 😲, hardest bit will be finding the time over the next 2 months but I'll be able to keep going back over it till it sinks in, I find at my age learning is hard, I wish all this had been around 45+ years ago instead of the recorder or triangle at infants and the classical based musical education for other instruments that was on offer then. I hope the youngsters are aware of the musical educational opportunities that are available to them now and take advantage of that and the relatively low cost of instruments and recording tech to make great music for the future where is high six country ? Google didn't know
  24. Peter sold me a nicely aged and loaded PB pickup, posted out same day, all good, many thanks
