  1. Shhh - dont say that too loud! 🤫 Oh no, as you were - its Basschat! 🤭😁 Yes is the answer, hence why miving in some gear.... Which Handbox have you got? I have the R400 - amazing little amp!
  2. Ah, cool... 😊 It's one of my favourite ever amps! Though sadly, that's about to be put up for sale soon too....
  3. In the smaller, first pic, its a Mesa Titan V12.. In the second, its a Hughes & Kettner Bassbase 600...
  4. NOW SOLD Hi Folks What's that brilliant quote from the film Airplane by Lloyd Bridges - "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking"...? 😁 Well, amidst the worsening economic crisis for decades, I have similarly - and stupidly - decided to pick this week to start having a bit of a gear clear out, because I need the space and have too much gear! So, here for sale is my SWR Triad Mk1 400 watt, 4 ohm bass cab that I've owned since buying it from @jhkon Basschat in early 2020. I'm looking for £130 or near offer for this cab, and am not after any trades, thanks. Worth pointing out immediately is that this is the Mk 1 version of the Triad, which are reputed to be loaded with Bag End drivers. Thanks to the pandemic, I've only gigged this cab a few times... And, bearing in mind this is probably around 20/25 years old, it's in pretty good condition - as can be seen in the photos, and it is in full working order. Soundwise, with it’s combination of a 15” driver, a 10” driver and 5” horn, the Triad does it all for me without being too clinical or too hi-fi IMO. It really is a great sounding cab! If you look on the internet, the jury's out about full-range bass cabs, but for me, I've found the Triad (and this is the third one I've owned since 2007) to be a very versatile cab, capable of delivering fantastic lows with quite an articulate mid-range and a sweet top end. I remember Alex Claber A/B-ing his Super 12T prototype against my first Triad cab about 10, 12 years ago, and Alex was pretty complimentary about the sound it makes, though it doesn't have the power handling of the Super 12T admittedly. Nevertheless, that was a very good endorsement from Alex I thought.. I have used this cab with a varity of excellent quality amps since owning it; Ampeg V4BH, Hughes & Kettner Bassbase 600, Ashdown CTM100, Mesa Titan V12, Eden Traveller 400 etc, etc, and in each case, it brings the very best out of the amps (and the various basses I've used it with).. Here's a review posted on Musician's Friend some years ago: "I've been gigging with the SWR Triad cabinet for exactly 10 years this month. It's been through all sorts of music to include acoustic world type music to heavy progressive. This is the clearest sounding cabinet I have ever heard. You will hear every nuance across the frequency spectrum." Spec from SWR: 4-ohm, 400W, 3-way speaker enclosure featuring a 15" woofer, 10" mid driver, and tweeter. The SWR Triad gets full range clarity like no other audio speaker system. 23"W x 27"H x 18.5"D. 80 lbs. * Bottom slot port * Spring-loaded rubber grip handles * Black Ozite carpeting with stack lock corners * Steel vibration-free grill * High-quality metal input panel with heavy-duty attenuator * 1/4" jacks in/out To state the very obvious, the Triad is not light; it weighs in at approx. 80lbs, so it's not the lightest cab that's ever been built... but because it has really strong handles on the side of it, I found that with a bit of practice and either a decent trolley or castors, it's been manageable for me. Just to clarify that I'm not looking for any trades on this thanks and that its only the cab that's for sale in this ad! Viewings, with lashings of Basschat tea/coffee /biscuits, are more than welcome in Potton, Bedfordshire, if you'd like to hear it first.. And although it wouldn't be my first choice, I'm also happy to ship it at your expense.. Any questions, please ask here or send me a PM Thanks for looking! 😊 Nik
  5. Ah, that's a long story ... Let's just say a need to be nearer family, and the move being enabled by being able work from home.. so I no longer needed to be tied to an office in West Sussex. It's one of the strange benefits to have come out of the pandemic..
  6. Now SOLD Hi Folks What's that brilliant quote from the film Airplane by Lloyd Bridges - "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking"...? 😁 Well, amidst the worsening economic crisis for decades, I have similarly - and stupidly - decided to pick this week to start having a bit of a gear clear out! First up, is this Squier P Bass that I bought about 5 years ago here on Basschat from @The Greek I'm looking for £SOLD or near offer.. It's a 'Crafted in China' model, circa 2008. Features include: * Wilkinson pick-ups. * Upgraded Mirrored scratchplate (to help you unleash your inner Phil Lynott) * Upgraded Vol/Tone control knobs. It plays pretty well, has a surprisingly good P Bass tone to it, and, IMO, looks the part too! Neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should, so it will be easy to set up the action on this bass to your own liking. And, despite being stock, the tuners hold the tuning pretty well.. I've gigged with it and in the right setting, it more than holds its own sonically... Would make a great starter bass, or be more than adequate as back-up bass. As can be seen in the photos below, it's been well used, and has the mojo to show for it. Try out welcome and collection preferred from Potton, near Sandy in Bedfordshire, but postage is possible at buyers expense and risk. Please note that I don't have a case for this, but I would ensure that it is very well packaged up for shipping. Any questions, please ask here or please send me a PM. Thanks for looking! 😊 Nik
  7. Great post @LukeFRC, and a great looking vintage Ibanez too! Am just wondering why you're selling it after putting in such a lot of effort to restore it so well?
  8. Fabulous! 👍 GLWTS 😊
  9. Hi Russ, I'm interested in this for my son... Will send you a PM. Cheers Nik
  10. +1 GLWTS
  11. Sorry @Beedster - am late to the party as per usual.. 😁 Couldn't agree more about the RBV being one of Fender's greatest designs. IMHO, these basses ooze quality, sound amazing with just about every setting the circuitry is capable of, and what's more, they are so comfortable to play because of the asymmetric neck profile. A candy apple red one in similar condition just sold on Facebook marketplace for a similar price, so this is in the right ball park, price wise, for sure. GLWTS
  12. Just bought a Marantz microphone from Sean who understandably, has great feedback here on Basschat. Really easy transaction and the mic is great! Thanks Sean 👍😊
  13. Cheers Andy 👍😊
  14. Hi Folks I'm very pleased to start a feedback thread here for Peter, aka @Prana, who bought my Xotic 5 string from me at the weekend. As well as buying the Xotic in what was a really easy transaction, Peter also brought up a couple of his super Jazz 5ers to show me, which was a real treat, as they were two makes I'd not had the chance to play before (Bass Mods and Sivcak). Even better than just doing a deal was having the opportunity to have a pre-Covid style, proper 'bass chat' for over 2 hours with Peter which was an absolute pleasure. All of which confirmed the fact that Peter is a great guy to deal, a fine, fine player, and someone who really knows his stuff when it comes to basses and music! So, highly recommended to one and all here on Basschat... Thanks Peter - really hope you enjoy the Xotic and thanks again for the chat ! Nik
  15. Just bought a Sire bass from @andybassdoyle, who was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Typical Basschat motorway sevices meet up to ensure the deal got done, which it did in uber-quick time. As has been stated many times already in this thread, Andy's a great guy to deal with - excellent comms, knows his gear and very fair to deal with. All in all, highly recommended! Thanks Andy - I'm really looking forward to using the bass... 👍😊 Nik
  16. +1 And GLWTS (not that you need it I hope, as G&L basses from that era really are superb!)
  17. Hi @KingPrawn Interested in the Marantz mic please.. I'll PM you... Cheers Nik
  18. Wow - what a beautiful colour! Great bass, great seller too! GLWTS
  19. +1 It's a sad indictment of the times.. 😕 An absolute bargain for the right person though... GLWTS
  20. Hello Mike - hope you are well! 😊 Back on topic... Beautiful bass, Brian - GLWTS.. 👍
