    Lovely looking bass you have there @funkle I recently bought a Godin Shifter Classic 5 string bass and I am absolutely amazed at how good it is - build quality, finish, sound and playability. If yours is anything like that - and I know it will be - then someone's going to get a bargain here! GLWTS 😊

    What a talented young musician.. If my kids could play an instrument to that technical level and show such an understanding of melody, harmony, rhythm etc, I'd be very proud of them for having invested their time and energy into one of the creative arts. I don't get why anyone would want to knock this guy at all for being a musician who's smart enough to earn a living from it. IMO, as musicians, need to celebrate what we all do to make the world a better place.

    Hi Folks, Over the last year or so, I've pretty much settled on using Mesa Boogie amps for my live work, and am using my Handbox R400 for recording. Which means that this lovely all-valve Ashdown CTM100 is just not being used, so I've decided to put it up here for sale at £525 or near offer. Currently, they're about £1200/£1300 new at places like PMT.. And they seem go for around the £800 mark on FleaBay, so I'm hoping this is a fair price for the Basschat community. So, to the amp itself... Bought s/h 2 years ago just after the first Lockdown, it's in very good working order, good external condition, sounds fantastic and is so tonally versatile that it puts a lot of solid-state amps I've used over the years to shame.. Sound It literally goes from that old-school Motown thump to out and out punchy, punky distortion with the twist of a few dials. And in terms of volume for gigging, IMO, it's 100 valve watts are more than capable of holding their own for pub gigs. It also runs happily at either 2, 4 or 8 ohms btw which means you can run a number of different cab combinations to suit your needs and your available gear. Tech spec etc Here's a link to the Ashdown website which has all the info you would need about the CTM100 and it's big brother, the CTM300: https://ashdownmusic.com/products/copy-of-ctm-300-head Weighs in at about 18kg which is a pretty easy carry for an all-valve head. I've included a screenshot of the tech spec in with the photos, but for any valve fetishists out there, just to sat that it has 3 pre-amp valves and two very nice KT88 output valves that light up and look pretty at night during gigs... 😁 Trades The only things I'd be interested in as far as trades go would be either: a) a decent quality 2x12, 4 ohm cab, or b) similar quality pair of 1x12, 8 ohm cabs. (with price adjustments where necessary of course). Being a valve amp, I'd prefer not to ship this for obvious reasons. So, it's collection only or a meet up within 50 miles of Potton, Central Bedfordshire. Very happy for anyone interested to come and check it out in person of course, where it can be tried through the Vanderkley 1156 cab that is shown in the pictures.     Boob Dylan 😂 Most definitely not affronted btw! And your campfire experience sounds truly awful.... I just checked out Ornette Coleman's Harmolodics film on YouTube - wow, what an interesting guy and clearly a unique musician and composer. I will definitely be investigating his back catalogue further... 👍 It is as you say, different strokes etc, etc. I'll always love Joni Mitchell's music & lyrics, but there's plenty of room in my old brain for new artists, new music and different points of view... .. except where Jamiroquoi are concerned! But that's a whole other story. 😁

    Luxury! Of course, we had it tough.. .. All 300 of us lived inside a melted microchip, on the middle of a broken Class D circuit board, had to get up 24 semi-tones before we went to bed, push valve heft down a 500 mile motorway whilst being forced fed Tony Blackburn records through acid-coated IEMs...

    Sorry to say, but you're way too late - which isn't such a good look for a funk- obsessed bass player, Mr Smalls! 😜 That 'Joni love-in' you referred to has been going on for millions of people around the world for over 50 years now, and shows no sign of abating anytime soon..

    It was the best concert I've ever seen, with more standing ovations throughout than any other performance I can recall. And KB was so, so good. The band, choreography, effects and concept were just on a whole other level. And after all of that, her encore, sat at the piano singing solo, was a reminder of just what a brilliant songwriter and singer she is. I was lucky enough to see her at the same venue back in 1978 too, on her only other tour.

    Thanks for sharing this @julesb@julesb 👍 Great artist with a great band! Looks like a lovely Roscoe Beck 5 that John Giblin is using there.. I saw him playing with Kate Bush eight years ago on her 'Before The Dawn' series of shows (with Omar Hakim on drums) and he was just impeccable in his playing!

    Thanks for sharing @pfretrock👍 That was kind of heartbreaking.. Reminds me of when I saw Frank Sinatra at The Royal Albert Hall in 1984.. The voice was long gone, but the charisma, the songs and the legend was all there!

    Hi Folks Are there any Mesa Boogie owners out there who can help me with a couple of questions : First, where's the best place to buy slow-blow fuses for my 2 Mesa amps? I have a Walkabout and Big Block 750. Secondly, I've read on both Talkbass and here on Basschat that the Walkabout will run safely at 2 ohms and just wondered if anyone on here has had experience of doing that safely?     Almost 4 years after I sold a custom T-Bird bass to Rod, aka @howdenspur, we've just met up again this week (during his and Mrs Howdenspur's holiday in St Ives, Cambs) to do another deal... .. A trade in fact, with my Maya Stealth bass going in Rod's direction and the custom T-Bird coming back my way. As is customary in these situatuons, we had a great chat over a pint about all things bass (and a few other important things too) and somehow managed to laugh off being asked to 'play a few tunes' by some geezer who wandered over to find what we were doing playing instruments with headphones on whilst sat in the bar! 😁 So, it was great to meet up with Rod again, and to be reunited with the T-Bird, and even better to meet Mrs Howdenspur for the first time too! As has already been said many times in this thread, Rod is a great person to deal with and a brilliant Basschatter! Hope you enjoy the bass Rod, and here's to the next time!! 😂

    It was Henry 'King Thumb' Thomas.. He used to live down the road from me in the early '90s and I had a few lessons with him, which were fantastic! He's a very decent bloke and a superb musician.. Started off as a cellist apparently.
