  1. Just bought a Marantz microphone from Sean who understandably, has great feedback here on Basschat. Really easy transaction and the mic is great! Thanks Sean πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  2. Cheers Andy πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  3. Hi Folks I'm very pleased to start a feedback thread here for Peter, aka @Prana, who bought my Xotic 5 string from me at the weekend. As well as buying the Xotic in what was a really easy transaction, Peter also brought up a couple of his super Jazz 5ers to show me, which was a real treat, as they were two makes I'd not had the chance to play before (Bass Mods and Sivcak). Even better than just doing a deal was having the opportunity to have a pre-Covid style, proper 'bass chat' for over 2 hours with Peter which was an absolute pleasure. All of which confirmed the fact that Peter is a great guy to deal, a fine, fine player, and someone who really knows his stuff when it comes to basses and music! So, highly recommended to one and all here on Basschat... Thanks Peter - really hope you enjoy the Xotic and thanks again for the chat ! Nik
  4. Just bought a Sire bass from @andybassdoyle, who was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Typical Basschat motorway sevices meet up to ensure the deal got done, which it did in uber-quick time. As has been stated many times already in this thread, Andy's a great guy to deal with - excellent comms, knows his gear and very fair to deal with. All in all, highly recommended! Thanks Andy - I'm really looking forward to using the bass... πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Nik
  5. +1 And GLWTS (not that you need it I hope, as G&L basses from that era really are superb!)
  6. Hi @KingPrawn Interested in the Marantz mic please.. I'll PM you... Cheers Nik
  7. Wow - what a beautiful colour! Great bass, great seller too! GLWTS
  8. +1 It's a sad indictment of the times.. πŸ˜• An absolute bargain for the right person though... GLWTS
  9. Hello Mike - hope you are well! 😊 Back on topic... Beautiful bass, Brian - GLWTS.. πŸ‘
  10. Great amp, great seller and absolute Basschat legend.... And if that weren't enough, how is this still even here at this price - I am seriously baffled?? GLWTS Col...
  11. Knowing how good the Handbox R400 head I have is, I cant believe that there hasn't even been one single comment about this amp in over 3 weeks since it was first listed?? I've used mine for rehearsals and gigs where it's performed perfectly - great sound, super loud and very easy and light to carry around.. The real surprise though has been using it for a recording project for the last 6 months, and I have to say, the preamp sound and the DI on it have made such a difference ! Having said all of that, this bigger, more flexible version looks like an absolute killer to me and if I didn't already have too many amps, I'd be seriously interested in this one... Anyway, GLWTS 😊
  12. +1 At the moment, I am lucky enough to have a Big Block 750 and a Walkabout combo in the house, and they are two fantastic sounding pieces of kit! They sound similar, definitely from the same sonic family if you like, but they are subtley different. I think that this M-Pulse 360 is probably closer to the Walkabout tonally than the Big Block, which means it will be that much warmer and rounder sounding. Punchy and as loud as anything too and the eq is lovely.. This is an absolute bargain price IMHO! GLWTS
  13. Fabulous! As far as 4 string basses go, these really are as good as it gets, IMHO.. GLWTS
  14. Just sold an old Gherson Fretless bass to Brian who's going to turn it from a bit of an ugly duckling, into a beautiful white Swan... Got to say that it's been a pleasure dealing with @briansbrewwho I would highly recommend to all here on Basschat.. Many thanks for such an friendly and smooth transaction Brian and I really hope you enjoy the bass! 😊 Nik
  15. What a beautiful looking bass! 😊 GLWTS
  16. Hi John I'm good thanks - how about you? The electrics are a bit worse for wear tbh; could do with a new pot or two, and it's quite buzzy, so I suspect the earth wire needs to be resited.. But if that all gets sorted, those pick ups are really good! I've had a couple of PMs on this and it looks like it might be gone soon.. 🀞😁
  17. *** Item now SOLD - thanks for the interest! *** Hi Folks Here for sale is a retro looking, late 70s or early 80s fretless Gherson Jazz Bass that I've had for a year or so. Price is £SOLD or near offer, and I'm not looking for any trades at this time. So... It's the 3rd fretless bass I've had over the last 15 years and, just as the previous 2, it was acquired so that I could give "...playing fretless a go". Well, now I've done that, I think ive finally proved to myself that I just dont have the fretless gene in my DNA.. I think I'm 'Jaco-impaired' for want of a better phrase.. Anyway, when I got it, it was completely unplayable but my local luthier at the time (Graham Wheeler) did a good job of sorting it out a twist in the neck so that it's quite playable now. And with the two powerful Di Marzio pick ups and a set of Bass Centte Elite Detroit flats on it , it has the potential to make quite a nice sound in the right hands. The tuners are good too, and the bridge/truss are all working fine.. Having said all of that, it would definitely benefit from further work - hence why I've described it as a 'project'... Firstly, the electrics need a bit of TLC and also, the neck could probably do with a bit more work up the dusty end to make it easier to play those higher notes.. As you can see in the attached photos, it's got its fair share of battle scars, notably at the top end of the neck! If I thought I would do more fretless playing and be better at it, then I'd do those things mentioned above to make it a better playing instrument, but the reality is that I won't, hence why it's up here for sale. One last thing to mention - it's a heavy bass and not for anyone with any lingering back/neck/shoulder health issues. In terms of logistics, collection preferred from Potton, Central Bedfordshire, but I could drive to do a meet up if needed.. And yes, postage is possible if absolutely necessary. It doesn't come with a case but I'm pretty sure I can provide a gig bag with it for shipping. Any questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking! 😊 Nik
  18. After years of living in West Sussex, I moved to Central Bedfordshire last year and one of my worries at the time was about finding someone locally that I could trust to work on my basses.. It turns out I needn't have worried at all, as one of Basschat's finest, Gary aka@gary mac, lives not too far away from me in Hertfordshire. Spin forward 9 months or so and in recent weeks, Gary has done some fantastic work on 3 of my basses including basic set-ups, fretboard work, solving earthing problems and copper screening control cavities, as well as realigning a bridge by 2 mms on a bass I bought recently. All basses now play beautifully and sound great, with not a whisper of earthing hum or buzzing to be found... 😎 To say I'm pleased would be a massive understatement - I'm absolutely delighted and will be taking some of my other instruments to Gary for the same treatment. As if all that weren't enough, it turns out Gary's mum lives over the road from my lovely aunt in Cheshunt and that Gary has known very close cousins of mine for years - what a small world!! 😁 Anyway back on topic, Gary's work is excellent, his turnaround times are good and he charges a very fair price indeed for the quality of service he provides, so if you're local enough to him, then I can't recommend him highly enough! Thanks Gary and see you again soon no doubt.. πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž Nik
  19. Just echoing all the positive comments above about about this amp; I have one that I've been using on a recording project, and it's been absolutely brilliant! Done a few gigs with it too, and it's been great in that setting too.. GLWTS
  20. Well, I didnt think it was my place to mention them.. 😁
  21. Just bought a great 3u rack bag from Andy which is in great condition and is perfect for the job! Speaking of perfect, the whole transaction with Andy went perfectly from start to finish, as would be expected from the brilliant feedback here.. Thanks Andy - really appreciate it! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  22. Just had the pleasure of meeting James to do a trade - my Vanderkley/Markbass rig for his Walkabout Scout combo. As has already been said here, James is a great person to deal with and I'm very happy to recommend him to one and all on Basschat! 😊 Thanks for sorting out the obligatory motorway services venue to meet at today James, and more importantly, thanks for the trade! πŸ‘
