Hi Folks NOW SOLD - THANKS FOR LOOKING I bought this from Moos3h here on Basschat 2 years ago in order to run it as part of a two-rig set up along with my SWR Triad, but that plan never really happened. In the end, a combination of too few gigs and not enough space at what gigs I've actually done has meant this has been little used.. Which is a shame as it's a great little cab that sounds pretty sweet (to my ears anyway), isn't too heavy and is in good condition for it's age. The recent acquisition of a Schroeder 21012 means this will get even less use, hence why I'm finally putting it up for sale. Photos: Here's the SWR blurb about it: "WORKINGMAN'S 2x12T Bass Cabinet enclosure. The workingman's 2x12T was a great sounding two way enclosure featuring two custom designed 12" Celestion speakers. The WM 2x12 came standard with the "Texas Bar Proof" metal grill. Aluminum input panel. Power Handling: 250 watts, Impedance: 8 ohms Size: 23 1/4"W x 23 1/4"H x 18 1/2"D Weight: 55 lbs Input panel features: Parallel 1/4" input jacks (In & Out ) 3-way switch for horn ( 0db, -6db, off.) Aluminum construction. Production period: 1995 to 1999" More blurb here: http://www.swramps.c...php/#wmspeakers I'd be happy to post this but obviously, would particularly welcome interest from anyone local to Littlehampton, West Sussex. And if you are local and would like to come and hear the cab in action for yourself, then you'd be very welcome. I'm going to be putting a few more bits and pieces up for sale over the next couple of days but have to head out to a gig now.. But if you have any questions about the 212, or if you'd like any more photos, then please ask here or PM me. Thanks for looking, Nik
I think you should use exactly the same kit as in 1978, you know, for the sake of complete verisimilitude ...
Nice to hear - hope it goes well for you!

I had 1 of these basses about 10 years back and it was surprisingly good.. It had a great sound due to the P/J pick up configuration (which admittedly I am a fan of) and it was very nice to play. Perhaps that was in part down to the through-neck design? Whatever it was, it certainly punched above it's weight for a budget bass. So GLWTS and have a BUMP on me!
Anyone have any suggestions of the best CDs or DVDs to start with, for someone who has none of his material?
+1 one to the above mentioned 'Sign of the Times' and 'Parade', but IMO, other Prince albums worth hearing in their entirety would include: 'Dirty Mind' '1999' 'Purple Rain' ( a genius pop masterpiece in my view) 'LoveSexy' There are always brilliant tracks on most Prince Albums, even if the album itself isn't great overall. For example, the free album he did about 4 years ago that was distributed by the Daily Mail had some fantastic tunes on it.. As for his live performances and musicianship, the shows I've seen over the years have been extraordinary! I remember seeing the LoveSexy tour back in the late '80s and it was just unbelievable. His singing, guitar playing and abilities as a pianist were peerless. Above and beyond that for me though are his abilities as a songwriter - sometimes overlooked because his personality and showmanship tends to grab all the headlines. Songs like 'Sign of the Times', 'Kiss', 'When Doves Cry' are classics! But there are lots of other gems in his catalogue too.. Check out 'Condition of the Heart' from the 'Paisley Park' album or 'Do U Lie' from 'Parade - fabulous. The other thing that I think is worth mentioning about Prince is his influence on other artists and musicians.. Not sure who said it but there's a saying about truly great artists being a 'barometer for their times' and I think that's definitely true of Prince during the 1980s, just as it was for Bowie in the 1970s and the Beatles in the 1960s.. All subjective of course, but that's my 2p worth. Nice thread btw bubinga5..

A massive +1 to all the above stories about the old WAL workshop in High Wycombe.. It was great customer service! WAL,Pete the Fish, Stuart and Paul were a great bunch who made me feel really welcome every time I went there.. In particular, WAL himself had a great sense of humour. Over the years, I remember trying out some of the unique WALs they had there, such as serial number 1111 and their first 5 and first 6 string models; there was no snobbery whereby trying things out was only the preserve of more well-known bassists. They always liked to get feedback from all their customers. I heard about 4 or 5 years ago that Stuart had a battle with throat-cancer but had come through it and was still doing work as a Luthier, which is good news.

Fantastic cabs, these.. I've only just recently bought one and have been amazed by how good they sound in a gigging situation. I've been very loyal to my trusty old SWR Triad cab for 5 or 6 years, but this Schroeder cab has a unique design that projects your bass sound into a venue so well, it's astonishing! And what it does project is a really clear, punchy and full bass sound... GLWTS -

Just bought a Schroeder cab from Kev which arrived today. What can I say about this deal.. Well, right the way through, Kev was a pleasure to deal with and made everything possible by being willing to package and ship the cab to me, even though he'd had a bad experience shipping a cab previously. Really knows his stuff too when it comes to cabs and gear generally, which was really helpful to me in making a decision to buy the cab. Suffice to say, the Schroeder arrived in the most bomb-proof packaging I've ever seen and I'm pleased to say it's in all in one piece and sounds great.. So, deal with Kev in complete confidence folks: I can't recommend him highly enough! Thanks Kev
