Good luck! 👍 I've had a fair bit of frustration with using rattle cans over the years (mostly on bits of motorbikes). One time I baked some painted parts in the oven, which turned out OK, except by some complete coincidence - my pies etc tasted of paint for about a month after... that was weird...

Not sure about the look of that VM4, Dave. Is it a P-Ray? or even worse, a Ray-P !? 😬

For a painted finish, I do wonder if it's an idea to do the prep' yourself, then take it to a car bodywork place to get it professionally sprayed with colour and lacquer? 🙂

Is it though? One could argue that it simply EQs what comes from your pickups... in that way, it's no different to using a different pre' / adjusting your amp, or using a pedal? 🙂

Not basses, but as somebody with a few hobby rooms / cupboards full of "stuff", I'll say this: 1) If it gives you pleasure - you're winning.
