  1. Tubeway Army's "Replicas" on CD at a loud enough volume to notice what I missed all the years I only had a second hand tape copy of it. Bl@@dy awesome.
  2. Another one I'd throw in..."Mk 2" OMD. First four albums amazing. Added a brass section and I stopped listening. Although did see them on the Sugar Tax tour with Andy and hired helps and that was far better than I thought it would be.
  3. The Cult... Dreamtime is my all-time favourite album, Love was different but still a belter, Electric...well I played it twice and have never bought a record of theirs since
  4. Possibly the best thing I've seen this year ☺
  5. One that made an impression on me back in the day was "I Don't Like Mondays"... Watched it last night for the first time since it was in the chart and still find it creepy
  6. Lost enough photos to a hard drive carking it, wouldn't want music going the same way so vinyl or shiny plastic for me (still got loads of cassettes as well but don't know if they'll still be any good after 30+ years...)
  7. Have in the last couple of days just got the line "drop an atom bomb on me" stuck in my head and for the life of me can't remember the song.... mid 80s, chirpy Scottish pop band (or singer at least) s I recall. Google no help...anybody know anything?
  8. Might not be the most technically genius-like or complicated but Hooky's "Transmission" and "Sunrise" do it for me.
  9. For the majority of the 16 years or so I had my own place before getting married I didn't have a TV, I only bought one in the end as I was tired of watching DVDs on a 14-inch PC monitor. When the analogue signal was switched off I cancelled the TV licence. Now I hardly ever watch anything as it's being broadcast, usually recordings of reruns of old stuff (currently working through The Bill from 2000). If TVs were outlawed tomorrow I personally wouldn't miss it.
  10. Always thought the Sisters Of Mercy's version of " Emma" blew the original away
  11. The only one I'm sure about is the bits of Fields Of The Nephilim's "Earth Inferno" from Wolverhampton (some more of that gig ended up on b-sides as well).. was at the NEC for Quo the day before/after the Prime Charles gig lol
  12. If I had to choose a handful of songs... "Transmission" - Joy Division, "Sunrise" - New Order, "Celebrate" - Fields Of The Nephilim, "Alice" - Sisters Of Mercy. One day I might be able to play some of them properly...
  13. A mate once accused me of looking like Jim Morrison...
  14. On the subject of mismatches I often wonder how Motley Crue's tour with Killing Joke as support went some years back
  15. Having taken the plunge and bought myself a bass last year almost entirely because I love what Hooky used to do with one it finally clicked why I was so drawn to "post-punk".. or even some of what was " actual" punk at the time... all about that bass lol
  16. Caught them on the last night of the Iron Fist tour...Eddie never played with them in the UK again. RIP
  17. B*gger ordered a Peter Hook CD last night :-0
  18. Mother I've tried please believe me... Just for one moment I heard somebody call... looked beyond the day in hand.... there's no.one there at all... That whole album scared the hell out of me...
  19. Saw the original Fields Of The Nephilim four times in their heyday...absolutely zero audience interaction, half the time you couldn't even see them for smoke...yet rarely have I seen a band hold an audience so captivated
  20. Probably completely different if you ask me again next week but right now I'd go for: LowLife - New Order Turn On The Bright Lights - Interpol Replicas - Tubeway Army
  21. Always loved The Bill original theme, never so keen on the jazzed-up version when it went weekly. Barry Gray's UFO theme as well.
  22. 53%...some pure guesses, recognised more hands/clothes than guitars...!
  23. With no guitar in sight I think my favourite intros are (Don't shoot me) both by OMD... " Messages" (the single/live way not the album")and "Electricity" Last time I saw OMD was one of the very first gigs at Symphony Hall in Brum in 1991, ok wasn't the "proper" OMD .. started with a new song nobody knew, everybody sat and listened and applauded politely... Andy McLuskey looks all around the hall, says " Just because it's a posh venue doesn't mean you have to behave".. keyboard player starts plinking out "Messages" and nobody sat down for the rest of the night
  24. 37 years back I was watching TOTP and they introduced this band I'd heard of at school but didn't know...a little ditty called "Rock 'n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution".. I started to think maybe this metal stuff is worth investigating..RIP sir
