The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
ezbass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I’m not an expert on Retrovibe gear, but it seems to receive a fair amount of love on BC. All I know is that he orders the parts (I assume from a Chinese source, but I could be wrong), assembles and fettles them to his spec and sells the product on. If the Ric-ish ones weren’t single cut, I’d be all over them. -

I love that Viv has gone down this route. Rob Allen has something similar (long scale) but really, really expensive ($5.5k at least + import duties)*. This isn’t cheap of course, but it is boutique and that’s always pricey. I’d love one of these, I mean, just look at it 😍.I reckon 32” is probably spot on for me. *https://www.roballenguitars.com/solid-4-gallery -

Yeah, I read that somewhere too. It wasn’t just the pickup that was on the squint, the entire chrome assembly was pissed. Didn’t notwithstanding immediately, but once I was aware of it, I couldn’t unsee it.

My 4003s had a wonky bridge pickup (both pickup and surround) and the nut was like it had been finished by a blind man. QC very much not the watchword at Hall Towers.

I’m concerned that @NancyJohnson’s storage solution might the wood burner . However, needs must 🔥.

Wow! That’s has to be a good feeling. I wonder if said bassist is on here at all?

One gets the feeling that popular music doesn’t mean as much these days as it once did, when we were younger. It’s more of a background thing that accompanies something else you’re doing. However, that’s viewing it from a musician’s point of view and, perhaps, it was ever thus and we’re not seeing it from the right perspective. Lady Ez, for instance, likes music certainly, but can rarely, if ever, recall the lyrics to a song or hum the tune. She is not a muso and is probably subjected to more music than she would if I didn’t play or was an enthusiast.

I remember trying one of these (same finish & neck) at a guitar & bass show at the NEC. It was extremely good, which was what one of my companions thought too. This companion had around 50 basses at the time, with some real boutique beauties in that collection. I said that if he didn’t buy it, I would. Presented with the possibility of missing out, he bought it. I often think that I shouldn’t have given him the option and bought it myself. In short, a really impressive piece of kit.

This times many.^^^^ You reap what you sow and this was a bad harvest.

Must’ve cost him a fortune to keep pursuing this.
