1. mag is made in china - abm is made in uk and according to the good people at ashdown all cabs mag/abm come fitted with blueline speakers as standard. your gk should power it effortlessly my tace v4 and ampeg svt 3pro had no probs come to think of it neither did the mag 300 i had on loan when my old swr 750x was being repaired and it handled it too. andy
2. the sound from both of these cabs is great - the blueline speakers handle anything. the most significant thing for me was the ability to fine tune the sound because they are not full of mid range muff nor boxy bass or hissy highs. very transparent and clear with tons of bass. for me ashdown is the British ampeg except ampeg have 'that sound' ashdown are a little more than one trick ponies, particularly the cabs - the abm 115 is the best damn 1x15 cab I've ever had the pleasure of using. andy
3. the abm is slighlty smaller and more maneuverable..
4. talk to obbm he is the legend! knocked me up a seriously good cable - pro even - and had it deliverd for £25, you couldn't have bought the parts for that!! andy
5. Legend indeed! thanks Matt, you are a very patient man. deals a cracker! delighted andy
6. master and tube gain (drive by me too) full on and gain at three works fantastically well for me.
7.
my 2 cents... Eden410XLT hard to beat sensitivity wise... very fine sound. Forget that made-in-vietnam-cheapo-sh*t-ampg-crap. Doesn´t even come close to eden, epifani, schroeder, bergantino, ea....
beg your pardon sir! thats a generalistic statement! my Vietnam built SVT 810 is a demon of a cab and... in my 30+ years of playing have finally found the perfect cab for me and by god have I tried enough 'cheapo' rubbish and boutique alike! in repsonse to eden, epifani, shroeder, bergantino etc... turn on the tv, to any music channel - live stuff preferably - and check the amount of svt 810 being used by bassists, infact, just visit the ampeg site to see the amount of named bassists using their stuff! one more thing...an EA nm410 neo when new £1799 S/H £350 Wow! aint that worth a mention! most gear is over priced and names just become a snobbery issue - I truly like eminence made speakers, thats where I started next was the right box for me! your ears are your ambassadors as with horses for courses! andy
8. pm thornybank, he has a loverly ea 410 neo which is awsome and well priced. http://www.eaamps.com/product_detail.asp?ID=290 andy

10.
Would you like to point us to a source for that statement? It seems extremely unlikely to me, but I'm willing to be convinced.
a rock magazine from the 80's where eddie was on the cover and if my memory is correct it was directly after billy was on the front! andy
11. boosting the mids is a great piece of advice. certainly cuts...btw, what type of amps is your guitarists using? it's real difficult to cut through marshall 100w valve heads and 4x12 cabs. andy
12. billy's playing is more suited to the guitar?? billy was tapping and shredding in the early 70's - gimme a list of guitarists who were...Eddie Van Halen says Billy was his main influence when learning to tap and shred! billy is a great guy and certainly does his best to please his fans. so his playing might not suit all neither does every other impresario out there - horses for courses folks but to have that style, ability and technique in your armoury well.... andy
13. great collection! one thing though, £10 per record is a wee bit on the expensive side. andy
14. great turntable! if you add an audio technica at-110e to it...it sings beautifully. andy

yamaha bb series?? nothing other than superb! workings mans tool and well road ready! I totally adore my BB714...it's all I use! andy
17. right at the moment it is about £1200 - £1326 for a new one of these! this bass is pristine and in nearly new condition - still has the shop tags if I remember correctly. so nearly 50% of new is some price for a bass of this quality. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/71578 http://www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_attitude_ii_blk.htm good luck rob - still think you should keep it though. andy
18. great info! surprising some of the contact basschatters have had with the famous players. andy
19. Bought a new hifi for the lounge this weekend. Nad c315bee and c515bee with Monitor Audio B1 Bronze speakers. What a sound! I put on The Firm - Paul Rodgers Jimmy Page project - and fell in love with it all over again! Great open/airy/clear/musical recording featuring Paul's melodic vocals and Jimmy's fantastic electric/acoustic 6 and 12 string guitar playing. Bass comes via the sublime Tony Franklin ably supported by ex Uriah Heep drummer Chris Slade. What a great album it is, featuring an previously unreleased Led Zepp track and music by The Firm. The reason for this thread is Tony Franklin!! His fretless playing is superb and tonally supreme. I had actually forgotten about Tony and the caliber of player he is so...I think this should now turn into an appreciation thread for his most obvious talent! 20. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! you will regret! andy
21. I had the 410 it was brilliant especially being 100 watt!! however...be aware of the fact that when you plug in an extension cabinet it defeats the internal speakers - well it did on mine andy
22. take the yamaha decal off and replace it with smaller discreet yamaha waterfall effect with the yamaha logo at end. would look real cool! andy
23. just to throw in my tuppence worth fellas... this is super clean! I have seen it and know its history... from new! talk about monsters in sheep clothing eh!! andy
24. welcome mate, is your sessionette combo a 410 by any chance? andy
25. neck pup: http://dimarzio.com/site/#/pickups/ the will power has the proper string spacings for fender bass whereas the model one is a direct replacement for ebo/eb3 bass. wired up the model one to a vm telebass - what a difference in tone, full, round, precise and....most definitely in your face. put up some photos of your telecaster project please, would love to see it taking shape! my buddy has a 73 telecaster I'll need to try and praise it out of his hands!! andy
