  1. I have a spare set of original Fender Jazz Bass grey bottom pickups from 1966. They origin from a bass that had pots dating back to March 1966. The pickups come from the same bass and have been a set since the instrument left the factory. These pickups sound great. I've had them installed in a assembled '60s jazz until recently. They have the great warm jazz bass sound, but sound great when solood too (nice snarly bridge pickup). The leads are still the originals with original length. Asking €1.250 for the set. I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk and expense. Ps: the original loaded control plate 100% original) that these pickups originally have been connected too, is also available
  2. Trades or partial trades are welcome too. I am looking for a Musicman Sabre or stingray (lacquered neck preferred) or 5 string with slightly tighter stringspacing (like Ibanez atk), passive shortscale like mustang bass, or maybe a decent electric guitar.
  3. Nice one! "ES" is indeed said to mean entered special. But apparently it meant that these instruments were meant to be used for displays and demonstration. I've mainly seen sunburst with this marking, which means it's not a custom color thing. I've owned a '66 P, and it's genuinely the most characterfull P I've played so far. Glwts
  4. Rarely offered! Original sunburst body that belonged to a bass that had the pots dated to week 4 of 1966. So it's either from early '66 or late '65. The body has a lot of scratches, small damages and some bigger bumps and dents. The finish has gotten textured (maybe due to chemical reaction from being stored away for a long time?), and also has fine checking. There is an original tortoise pickguard included. This guard still has the mint green layer on the back, so should be '65 at its latest as they were phased out by then. The guard has a missing tip and another crack. Also the original shielding plates are included. Screws are included also, which are modern Fender aged replacements. Asking: €2.850 The body is located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I am willing to ship at buyers risk. I've got a few more pictures which I could send through PM or email if interested. They were too big to upload in the ad . Please do hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. PS: I also have other '65/'66 parts, like lollipop tuners, a loaded control plate and grey bottom pickups. The parts origin from 2 different basses that were finished in early '66.
  5. Rarely offered: Original Fender Jazz Bass neck, made in July 1965. The neck has a padouk fretboard, as Fender did only for a few months in 1965. This neck has been refretted with vintage style frets, and there is some chipping around the slots from defretting. The neck is straight, adjustable, and allows a decent low action. It has a comfortable feeling as some of the finish of the back has worn away. Originally this neck was mounted on a bass that had been finished in early 1966. I have the original (lollipop) tuners for sale separately. Asking €2500 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I could ship at buyers risk and expense. I might be interested in trade offers; basses, guitars...
  6. Cool Jose. Please note that shipping will be quite expensive, and import fees will need to be paid. Feel free to pm me if interested.
  7. Maybe they kinda look the same, but the modern replica might be a more solid material. When looking at the above pic, it would be remarkable if Fender really delivered a bass with that unsuitable quality saddles.
  8. I use PayPal gifts from time to time, but only when a seller has good feedback history. Never had any trouble. As a seller I'll never use the business version of PayPal anymore, as the position as a seller is very vulnerable. I've had trouble with this a few times (scammed by buyer, waiting ages for payment to clear).
  9. Up for sale again: Great old Rickenbacker 4001 in a gorgeous Azureglo finish. The bass sounds great and has a very good playability with low action. Note that these older neck are way less chunky than a lot of modern Rics. A long time ago the neck suffered a break (fretboard came loose partially, common issue with these oldies) which has been repaired and stable since. An area where paint chipped has been filled up with some darker blue lacquer. Two of the tuners could be replaced as two other have aged differently. Otherwise they look the same. Further there are all kind of small damages all around, some lacquer worn away on the back, and finish checking all over due to the age. Technically the bass is in good condition. All hardware en electronics work like they should. The neck is straight, adjustable, and very stable. A low action is possible with rounds and flats. The bass weighs 4.18 kg on my kitchen scale. At the moment she is fitted with Thomastik flats = great sound and playability. Fixed price €2.200 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I'm willing to ship at buyers risk and expense.
  10. Bump with updated trade options.
  11. There are a lot of options in this price range these days. As for vintage Fenders I'd say; get a good one from the early 80s (Dan Smith era). They are pretty much like '70s models, but better build quality and cheaper. There is even a jazz bass with dots and binding from that period! I think the turning point was somewhere in late '81. As for modern reissue Fenders. It seems like even the custom shop reissues don't have the deep cutouts and rounded contours of the original 60s produced instruments. Also I'd happily pay more for a reissue if it had a realistic tortoise pickguard. How nicely looking, reliced and aged a reissue Fender bass may look, the whole illusion of a vintage instrument gets demolished by an unrealistic looking tort pickguard. To be honest I think Bravewood does a nicer job in making imitation vintage Fender basses than Fender does themselves.
  12. Nice one. And super light indeed for a mid 70s.
  13. There were some unlined fretless Fenders from the Japanese line in the '80s/'90s; at least the jazz bass special and the jazz bass standard. An unlined fretless precision with maple fretboard as a reissue would be cool, but maybe more relevant in the Mexican or japanese range. As the originals are not that expensive usually, and probably cheaper than the reissues.
  14. It would have been nice if the '66 jazz had the frets between the bindings like the original.
  15. These vintage Pro birds are just superb. Glwts
  16. As mentioned in the ad; this bass has been assembled from 2 basses anyway.. no killing here.
  17. I have this set of '65/'66 Jazz Bass tuners. This ad concerns the tuners as pictured, including all mounting screws (one with rounded cross head). The tuners are originals that belonged to a July '65 dated neck from an early '66 finished instrument. The tuners work like they should. Asking €850
  18. I'm also willing to sell this bass in parts, if decent offers are made.
  19. It probably used to be foam once....
  20. Price dropped to €6.800
  21. Trade options added.
  22. In the end, most modern Squiers are probably more consistent than vintage Fenders.
