  1. Nice trio. Those Flea basses are something special indeed. I like the look of that 2 pu Wal too, never played one though. My guess is that Bunion got a very cool 63 P in return... Also lovely🙂
  2. I also use the 760fl set. Mostly I play with both pickups full for some nice punch. But with the neck pickup solood, it's steady enough as a P imitation for rock classics. Years ago used to be all about stainless steel rounds on a jazz, now I have 3 jazzes with la bella flats and one with nps rounds... Things have changed.
  3. Totally agree. A Jazz with flats (I use la Bella) has a bit more meat imo than a jazz with rounds. I really enjoy how it sounds and sits in the mix.
  4. I actually think the stock pickup sounds pretty good on my CV 70s, with enough growl and deep warm clarity. Overall I think it's a really great bass. I only swapped the tuners for Schallers.
  5. My guess is that a potential buyer decides if will be functioning as a collectors item or a player. Or both. So if someone wants to play it, weight and balance can be important. Though I'd be surprised if this bass weighed more than 3.8kg.
  6. Depends. I like 2 pickup basses mostly for their expanded versatility. For a stingray though I would keep to the 1 pickup version as other configurations just don't look right to me.
  7. At home, all my basses get playing time. For live gigs I like to use one bass for the whole set. As we play various types of music (all within the rock/pop genre), some variation in sound is needed. Our last gig I took my Ibanez Black eagle, fitted with La Bella flats. It sounded great all gig long with both pickups active, and did a decent P-like sound too with the neck pickup solood.
  8. Looks like it had been oversprayed at one point.
  9. Yamaha JB600r, Japan, around 1984 Rickenbacker 4001 Azureglo 1974 Fender Jazz Bass early '66, Ibanez Black Eagle 1977
  10. What a great looking bass, and a very convincing relic. A certain larger company could learn from this. Glwtt!
  11. That wah-wah effects potmeter is actually a mid frequency selector. While turning you swipe through various frequencies which causes that wah-like effect. It's how it works on these basses (owned two of them).
  12. Rickenbacker 4001 Azureglo Cool vintage Rick in a scarce Azureglo. The serial number dates it back to 1974. It seems that 2 tuners have been replaced, as they have less patina than the other two. Otherwise they look the same to me. The neck has had the infamous cracks which a lot of 4001s have suffered, due to incorrect truss rod adjustment. This has been repaired many years ago and stable since (though it could be finished better with a matching color lacquer). The neck is straight and allows a lovely low action. The truss rods are functional too. Otherwise the bass has a lot of cosmetic damages and lacquer checking. The playability is just great. Like said the neck is straight and allows a nice low action. The sound is like you expect from a good Rick. Weight is 4,18kg on my kitchen scale. Asking €2.750 I'm located in the Netherlands, but I am happy to ship at buyers risk and expense. I am also interested in trading for a 1965 or older jazz bas(max 4kg, Brazil fretboard & clay dots). Refinish or some minor parts exchange aren't a dealbreaker.
  13. Yamaha Super Bass SB800 Great vintage Yamaha Super Bass. It's made in Japan, and the serial decoder says it's made in 1977. It's a really great playing and sounding alternative to a standard Jazz Bass. The neck is quite chunky, more like a P bass. Soundwise it's s in the jazz bass family of course, though I'd say it has a little more meat in the mids than most jazzes. It has a full warm and punchy sound with both pickups active, but also does a great job on funky burping on the bridge pickup solood with the tone closed. The strings fitted are Thomastik flats. The bass is in good condition for it's age. It has its usermarks, small damages and bucklerash, but nothing major. One height adjustment screw has been replaced. All electronics and hardware work like they should. The weight is 3,96kg on my kitchen scale. Asking €850 I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk and expense.
  14. Yes I also sold a lovely 66 jazz. It was really a nice playing and sounding one, but I'm on the hunt for my ideal 60s jazz which is below 4kg Thanks!
  15. Asking price lowered. I am still looking for a good 60s jazz bass.
  16. Fantastic basses, no less than a JV or most USA fenders in my experience. Would love one as a cheaper alternative to my 66..
  17. I saw them In Amsterdam in 2010, as support act for Aerosmith. At first I thought "damn, which one should I buy tickets for" when I discovered they played on the same date... Until I discovered it was a 2 in 1😁
  18. There appear a lot of these fake listings on reverb. Seems like they have increased in the last month or so. Mostly Fenders, but also Rickenbacker and other popular stuff. Like said earlier in this thread, if it seems to good to be true..... Most of these listings are from a new account without feedback history; keep away.
