  1. Hi. I have been offered a Masterbuilt Fender Mark Kendrick 66 jazz bass It has playwear on the front side, and the certificate is missing.. Otherwise it should be complete and great. The seller is looking for €2.750 Would this be fair considering condition and missing certificate? Cheers Patrick
  2. The lacquer has kind of a creamy and sweetish smell that I recognize from a Fender American original 60s jazz. Any chance there is nitro involved here? And does anyone know an simple way to check?
  3. Down to €1.300. I would also be interested to trade for a Fender avri 63 precision, Stingray or Sabre classic, or partial trade of better Squier stuff per example.
  4. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  5. I'm not an expert on woods. But from what I've read, the straight vertical grains on the back of the neck could suggest it is quarter sawn indeed.
  6. G&L JB Fullerton Cool high quality Jazz Bass from G&L, made in the USA. Its a very classy appearance with its metallic red (I'd say it's pretty much candy apple red) body finish and matching headstock. The build quality is as you'd expect from an expensive USA G&L. The bass feels good and sounds like a good jazz bass should. Pictures: The bass is in a very good condition. It has a few small usermarks, but has an overall fresh appearance. All electronics and hardware work like they should. The weight is very moderate for a jazz at 4,3 kilo's. The original heavy quality G&G tolex case in included. Asking €1.450 I am located in the Netherlands, but registered shipping is possible at buyers risk. Tradewise I am interested in (old, avri) offset Fender guitars like Jaguar, Mustang, Duo Sonic...
  7. It looks like a heavily discolored Olympic white to me.
  8. I've played it this morning and doubt bounced in. My advice to myself is not to sell when in doubt :). I've received some very serious offers though.
  9. It's still Fender, so who knows which variations there might be. My 71 jazz neck only has a non-saying pencil mark on it, without any date stamps (or they must have faded).
  10. These just sound like a good stingray. If I recall right they should have the same 2eq as the Music Man classic range. Glwts
  11. Fender Telecaster Deluxe Nice limited edition Tele deluxe in silverburst with an ebony fretboard: The guitar is in good condition. It has a damage to the lacquer on the back of the lower horn, otherwise it just has small usermarks. The frets are in very good condition. Its a beautiful guitar that plays and sounds just great as you may expect from a higher end Fender. The original case, certificate, tools, straplocks and other paperwork are included. Asking €1.350 The guitar is located in the Netherlands, but I am happy to ship at buyers risk.
  12. Fender 1971 Mustang Bass Great vintage Fender Mustang bass in a most wanted competition blue finish. As usual with this finish, it has changed to a deep greenish shade. The bass appears to be all original. The serial number, neck and pots date to 1971. The pickups have some unusual codes (I think); 73 2. Not sure if this would mean 1973. There is a weeknumber noted down on the hanging tag; 241, which seems likely to mean to this bass had its check up before leaving the factory in the 24th week of 1971. Under the pickguard you can see the routing has not been altered in the past. It also shows the amount of discoloration very well. This is a 50 year old instrument that has been used. It has a lot of dents, scratches, usermarks, finish checking all over... No structural damages though; it´s just a characterful, genuinly roadworn vintage bass. The frets show a good amount of wear, but it's not any problem to play comfortably with a low action (it's fitted with flats now). A few of the bridge saddle screws don´t seem to move (didnt try to hard as they are set just right), which is probably an easy fix with some oil. It's a light bass; my kitchen scale says it's 3,25 kilos. Its a very easy playing instrument with a very enjoyable sound. It's strung with labella Mustang flats, but it goes nicely with more modern sounding flats too! I managed to find an original Victoria "salt n pepper" case, which will be included in the sale. The case misses the middle latch, but otherwise feels steady and closes well. Asking €3.250 The bass is located in the Netherlands, but can be shipped at buyers risk. Tradewise I am interested in a vintage Fender jazz bass (66 with the dots ideally, refin is ok), or vintage offset Fender guitars like jaguar, duo sonic ll or jazzmaster. I've got other stuff to add in a trade if something really good is being offered.
  13. They are darker yes. They are quite flexible strings with a good mix of thump and defenition. That's how I experience them.
  14. I've owned 3 mustangs; a jmj, a walnut 75, and currently I own a competition blue 71 (ex Clarky). All 3 sound(ed) really nice, though I think the 71 has a bit extra to the sound which makes it that it would sound ace with any set of strings. Some basses just have that quality. Its also the most comfortable of the ones I've owned (balance, contoured body). As for build quality (fit/finish), the jmj wins heads down. It seems like any Fender products from Squier affinity and up have tighter neck pockets than most vintage Fenders... On the 71 its pretty good for the Era, but it's not as tight as we would consider acceptable from a new bass nowadays. The strings on my Mustang are the labellas Mustang flats it came with last summer. Usually I don't like the old school sound, but these really do well with loads of character. My choice for a bit more modern sound is a set of fender flats, which sounds great too.
  15. I'm afraid that I cleaned up my imgur, after I sold the bass... 😶 It was for a good cause though. Ill see if I can source the pics and repost them for those interested.
  16. It seems like those terribly matched pieces of wood are especially to be found on the mustangs of the 70s. I've seen it a lot while searching for a nice one. Now I own a 71 jazz (around 3,85 kg) which is really resonant and acoustically loud. It sounds deep and growly with rounds, though I now have TIs fitted to see how I like them on this jazz. This is definitely one of the best sounding jazzes I've owned, along with a classic 60s Mexican Reissue and Yamaha jb600r.
