  1. I'm not a fan of the Rockinbetters, but I've never played a Renegade (I did try another Retrovibe and it had a definite Chinese feel to it). Given that choice, I'd probably hold out for a vntage Japanese one...
  2. Yep - that's its market!
  3. Audi used "Here comes the sun" in an advert.
  4. Well, I just set the dials to 12 o'clock and it sounded good! But yes, its context is a handy portable hassle-free amp; I don't think it's going to replace a concert pro's backline anytime soon.
  5. My first bass was a Columbus Jazz bass; it wasn't bad but wasn't great. It was a copy rather than a fake, as it didn't have a Fender logo on it.
  6. Out of most (sendible) people's budgets at £800; the only way I'd pay that is if I had megabucks to spend and it was the last one to fit into my entire custome basement collection of every faker that was ever made.
  7. Yo gots to be am talkin' street smokin' dood.
  8. I know - I'm a lost case; it's kind of like re-living the first time you heard something. (I hasten to add that I don't watch these daily!)
  9. Well, you've got me into it now - I've been watching more. This one has totally bamboozled him! I find it quite addictive!
  10. So - who's got a Trace Elliot Elf? I played one at the Olympia show and then TheGreek's at the Bass Bash. So, yesterday there was an ebay 20% offer and I just couldn't resist. It arrived today - sounds good.
  11. I quite like the "weaboo nation" bloke - he's funny and swears like a trooper; he describes himself as "Just a talentless black guy who enjoys music, anime and video games.". I watched a different one today, with two blokes, but they kept stopping the music to talk, which was a bit annoying, so I'll probably skip them.
  12. That's nice; it's good to see a non fender-alike!
  13. Well, I think Billy Sheehan really did that with his bass(es), putting a neck pickup in. I'd also quite like to get a custom build with Ric pickups.
  14. Yep - it should be fun (the official Ric name is Fireglo). If that falls through and you are patient, you can get a Japanese Matsumoku for around £350. The thru-neck Japanese ones tend to be maybe £100-150 more and some folks look for £600-700 for a Greco and the other top-end ones; however, that's getting too close to real Ric money for me. One of the things I want to try is converting one to a single pickup, with a spare Seymour Duncan I've got. I've also got all the hardware for a '78 if one comes up.
  15. That's some sort of a loop effect!
  16. OK - that's North to me. The reason I asked is because a shop near here (Berks) has had a Rockinbetter in for a while. A Chickenbacker to abuse sounds fun, but beware of spending too much on it is my advice.
