1.
Get much work as a luthier??
Funny you should mention that, I did fix a split across the body of an EB3 but I didn't use superglue and gaffer tape (or did I? ;-) )
2. I think a certain amount is self inflicted. There is a certain mindset where some people look down their noses at 'budget' brands, so there is a trend of emperors new clothes pricing to ensure the product is seen as 'worthy'.
3. Gaffer tape and superglue and it'll be fine (possibly, or possibly not).
4. A few from the past, Pond were great at the time but not sure they have aged well. Bivouac were amazing live but disappeared without a trace. And Dead slow children were also awesome live but never managed a single release as far as I know.
5. I must have been unlucky, communication was poor throughout, it took three weeks from payment to delivery. There was no communication for well over a week after payment was sent, it took several requests for updates to get any info as to what was happening and then best part of another two weeks before it arrived. When it did arrive it was exactly as described and I can't fault that aspect.
6. Bought a pedal from Skb558, superb comms from start to finish. A pleasure to deal with.
7. Husker Du or sugar, but would be happy with Therapy? As well.
8.
Not as sick looking as some of the basses I see here. At least the rusty looking vw doesn't get nicked.
Not by anyone who can see anyway.
9.
I don't see the point. It's like buying a mediocre priced car then ran sand paper and wire brush through it and knock the bonnet and wheels here and there!
Google 'rat look vw' but have a sick bag ready......
10.
Fair enough. Not a fan of their latest stuff either but always see them live.
They are still one of my favourite live bands. They were the first big band I ever saw live. It was at the assembly rooms in Derby and you were, supposed to be 16 to get in unaccompanied, I was 14 and a bit nervous about getting caught. I had bought the ticket from way ahead in Derby (best record shop in the world imho) and the guy had told me to just tell them my birth date and age if they asked and I would be ok. The guy on the door asked my age and I replied 16 and gave my birthday, to which he replied 'but wouldn't that make you 17?'. All I could think of to say was 'oh yeah, I forgot my last birthday' he looked down his nose at me and waved me past. It was an amazing night but my ears didn't stop ringing for nearly a week.
11.
How about Piece of Mind?
It's ok, but not up there with the best, come to think of it I can't remember when I last listened to it either. Somewhere in time is also a bit up and down. I guess it's those mid years where I think they lost a bit of direction. I can't think of a track I don't love on the first two albums, similar on seventh son, number of the beast starts wobbly with invaders and then is brilliant. I can't really comment on the latest stuff as I haven't really followed them for a while.
12.
I know what you're saying but it was followed by their longest tour ever. Have you listened to the isolated bass tracks from Powerslave? I found the sound of the bass extremely good.
I can see where you are coming from but as a whole I would just never reach for it on the shelf. I am a bit biased as I love PDs voice so keep being drawn to the first two albums, but then number of the beast and seventh son take some beating. Just nothing from Powerslave shouts out enough I guess.
13. I just run a strong tune over the top until it stops, for me Peaches by the Stranglers sorts anything.
14. Not sure what it is but I like it, very cool sound.
15.
It's rehearsal, it's only available to us!

it's not a rehearsal if the result is going online for all to hear. It is the most important "gig" you may play for a while. Kill it ! best of luck
;-)
16.
Someone asked us if we could play some Easter songs once - *blank look* ummm
Something by the Jesus Lizard perhaps?
17. TC spark boost pedal (as new) plus a bit of cash any interest to you?
18. Is it possible to swap back to the original setup and see if that works ok?
19. I love the headstock, it really sets it off. A bit unsure of the shape, but that's a personal thing, the quality is just jaw droppingly good.
20. Thanks mate, it was seeing your threads that made me want to have a go. I would recommend it to anyone.
21.
Not on that website, but plenty of headless kits around (either via eBay or AliExpress): [url="https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Afanti-Music-Headless-style-DIY-electric-Bass-kit-guitar-kit-AWT-064/32363623252.html?spm=2114.30010308.3.1.zwImbK&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10065_10068_10501_10503_10000032_119_10000025_10000029_430_10000028_10060_10062_10056_10055_10000062_10054_10059_10099_10000022_10000012_10103_10000015_10102_10096_10000018_10000019_10000056_10000059_10052_10053_10107_10050_10106_10051_10000053_10000007_10000050_10084_10083_10000047_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10115_10000041_10000044_10078_10079_10000038_429_10073_10000035_10121-10503_10501,searchweb201603_9,afswitch_2_afChannel,single_sort_1_default&btsid=d228b0ff-029c-4870-a599-d5022f9ad7b7"]https://www.aliexpre...99-d5022f9ad7b7 http://www.ebay.co.u...UoAAMXQh8NTdNZS I expect they all probably come from the same place, with similar quality. That eBay option, in that listing, is b-stock, but I expect they'd have an a-stock in, as well, if you'd get in touch. Curious to see pics, if you do go ahead (hope it's ok to post links - apologies if not. Obviously, I'm not affiliated with either vendor)
I have seen the guy in Ireland selling them, unfortunately that one has a cracked neck. I have just finished my last project so will see what comes up in the near future, if I get one I will start a thread on here.
22.
Now, a hoverbass - that would have been impressive!
Have you seen Colin Furze and his bass and other projects? Wouldn't surprise me if has plans to make one.
23. I stick to 30-40 minute sessions. I start with a gentle warm up of stuff that's easy and I like. Then I do a 10-15 minute session learning something new, then similar time again doing run through of stuff in our set, then finish with a few minutes of whatever takes my fancy. I also do really short sessions here and there and have stuff secreted around the house so I can do a quick noodle if I have a minute or the fancy takes me. Even a couple of minutes can help me to fix something in my mind.
24. You have to start somewhere. I have built motorbikes, cars, kit cars and even a hovercraft. I haven't had a days instruction in any of it, just had a go and learned as I went along. I recently picked up a bass as a project (thread on here) and had a go. You will get a great deal of satisfaction from doing it. The kits aren't stupid money and as they have everything you need are a good way to dip a toe in so to speak.
