T-Bay

One I find tricky but in an annoying way is she sells sanctuary by the Cult. It's annoying as it is stupidly simple but it's just relentless so keeping concentration and timing for 4 minutes takes some doing for me. More complicated songs seem much easier to get spot on. To me it was a case of learn it in two minutes but then it seemed to take an age to get it perfect to me, maybe I am being too precise as the rest of the band didn't seem to notice what I deemed mistakes but I noticed them.

[/quote] I remember going down to where they used to test the RB211s as a kid as a mate told us that they would blow you over if you stood in the right place, we were never lucky enough to see or hear them running and I doubt our mates story would have been accurate but when you are 12 anything is possible! We are spoiled these days with access to new music, in some ways it's hard to remember how you used to find out about stuff.

It's hard as there are so many great ones to choose but mine would be Jean Jacques Burnel and Michael McKeegan, not necessarily the best but most influential on me. I am surprised Jack Bruce hasn't been mentioned yet, he would also be up there for me as well.

[/quote] What's wrong with asking the music shop to play it first? Way ahead in Derby was awesome, full of similarly minded spotty youths waiting for the next big thing. They would happily stick it on for the whole shop to listen to if it was quiet or via a pair of headphones if it was busy and you were one of a few. It was also word of mouth through mates 'have you heard such and such they are great/ crap'. I can't imagine just buying something based on the album cover, some of my collection would not have been bought and Big Black 'songs about ******* would have had me running scared!

I love the term hair metal, it was cock rock 'back in the day' where I was. But why worry about 'Genres' it's just for borderline OCD people who have to pigeonhole stuff. I condsider there to be three types of music, the stuff you love, the stuff you tolerate and the stuff you loathe. Beyond that it really doesn't matter.

I think many people miss the point in this by wrongly assuming eBay will mediate in any problems, sadly in my experience as a seller they simply find in favour of the buyer even when there is overwhelming evidence otherwise. That is why I don't sell on eBay anymore. This guy may be completely legitimate but might not, why risk it? From the other side, I took a chance and bought a bass off eBay it made sure I spoke to the seller before and confirmed condition and how it would be packaged and which courier (UPS) etc. He was brilliant and packed it in bubble wrap in a padded gigbag, in a box wrapped in bubble wrap inside another box. It was a good job too as the outer was pierced in three places and one had gone through the bubble wrap and pierced the inner. The bass was fine but you do wonder what some of these places do with the parcels.

I can still remember as though it was yesterday when I heard he was dead. I was living in Delft in the Netherlands and the only English language station I could get was the world service, after some non news of this and that the announcer, in a very plummy accent, said 'in other news, American popular singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide today, he was 23, and in sports news.........' They couldn't even get his age right. I can still remember the feeling of it being such a tragic loss but struggled to find any information until I got a copy of the NME from the station in Den Haag a week later. Such a loss :-(

I have only met one reliable one in all the years and he is now one of my best mates. He is the first to say what an unreliable bunch they are as a whole. Good ones are in such demand they can get away with being unreliable and troublesome in ways other trades can't. Bad ones still get by as often they are the only ones you can get to look at stuff as the good ones are so busy!

I think you really need to try them out yourself on your setup. I have fiddled about trying to get the sounds I want for an age now. In the end I have found a TC dark matter works for a gentle dirt set up and a Boss metal zone of all things for a heavier sound (available for pennies off any second hand website you choose to look at). The Boss was a complete surprise as I have to admit I expected it to be overly heavy for the sake of it but it's actually quite versatile and the cheapness means I am happy to have it for occasional use.

I am a moderator on a motoring forum and it's a thankless job in many ways. There is loads of work behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and when it goes well no one notices but if you ever have a problem everyone notices! I have not been on here long but had to contact Ped over a minor issue with a purchase from here and he could not have been more helpful. I find it a very welcome site, especially for someone who is still very much a beginner like myself, and in the short time I have been on here I have already made a couple of new friends and weirdly caught up with others I have known over the years but lost touch with for various reasons.

+1 some are better than others. I now use the B3 for the less used effects and have my common ones as stand alone. To me it works as a good compromise between quality and not carrying a board that is the size of New Guinea.

I shimmed one up with a piece of aluminium plate under the bridge. It's barely noticeable and you wouldn't spot it unless you were looking.

I am a mod on a motoring forum and this is becoming scarily common, join one minute then instantly post 'what's this worth, I think it's worth £x' with x being half the real value, then wait for people to pm them thinking they are getting a bargain and instead they get scammed, or as in here replying to wanted ads in a similar manner. Some weeks we have stopped 20-30, so at least it seems the music forums aren't as badly hit for the moment and long may that continue.
