  1. Take them out on the next gig then! 2x 8ohm cabs will present a 4ohm load to the amp, no?
  2. I have a Basschat DIY micro cab I can bring along!
  3. September works for me!
  4. I’m definitely up for it! Usually drive down to the SW bash in Taunton, but we’ll up for a closer one, too. I’m in Swansea, but Cardiff makes most sense for a Southern meet.
  5. Look at me trying to look like I know what I’m talking about…. Ampeg cab sensitivity 99dB / max output 127dB BF twin sensitivity 100dB / max output 133dB Might be talking through my derrière then 😂
  6. Am I barking up the wrong tree or would a really sensitive cab (like one of the bigger Barefaced jobbies) get the most out of the valve beastie for bigger gigs? Think my tech uses a Selmer head with a big twin or similar.
  7. Search earlpilanz on eBay. The issue might be supply of the correct colour tort though, probably all comes from the same place!
  8. Could ask Zola to redo the Ashdown case in matching purple?
  9. I appreciate you’ve committed to the headless approach, but another option might have been to stick some extra bits of wood to the existing headstock, then sawing/shaving/chewing down to the desired shape. Headless basses balance nicely though!
  10. Sounds quite logical to me, Lozz!
  11. That is a lovely piece of wood. I love how grain figuring can look holographic.
  12. Outside finished, just need some port tube and spade connectors.
  13. The handle is more of a tan leather in real life - looks orange in the pics.
  14. Oh and I need a bit of pipe for the port. However, visually, I’m done!
  15. My super scientific way of determining centre of gravity for handle placement - balance it on a bit of wood! It’s a beast - 5kg. Hopefully that will translate to audio heft too. waiting for two things now; spade clips to wire it internally, and a jack-to-jack speaker lead to connect the blighter up.
  16. I think the trick these days is to buy only. Too much hassle to post!
  17. I had a Perspex strat for years. Sooo heavy!!!!
  18. Do it!
  19. Was that Andy’s? Bloody beautiful bass.
  20. Chrome corners turned up early! Looking sah-weeeetttt…
  21. Had to paint over a couple of bits, so progress has slowed, but just put the final coat of varnish on the last two panels, and murdered a pillow for wadding the inside. Tried to staple it in but that didn’t work, so went with drawing pins. That plus friction fit seems to have worked out nicely! Feet fitted, too.
  22. I now have the front grill and back plate. Chrome corners and leather handle still in the post. Just put the last coat of blue on, I shall coat it in matt varnish tomorrow hopefully.
  23. This one 👍
