What it says^ really. We're a 3 piece playing acoustic and electric songs, nothin too heavy. Also, my first outing on a 5er, so expect mistakes a-plenty! hey ho! We're first up supporting Space Heros of the People (80s electronica?) and Vicars of Twiddly (dress as vicars and have a go-go dancing nun) playing Dick Dale Style surf. Doors open 8.30

Hey, well done! I didn't know the covers circuit was all that good in the Oxford area, and hadn't heard of music at the Midget. I'm at the Wheaty in Ox tonight so can't make it, but good luck. Jules
You're right there, Jack - this is made from the finest quality Korean ply, formed from driftwood pieces hand-picked from the banks of the Nakdong River. As any fule kno. J.
Question - at what point does "multi-laminate" become ply? -

I'm leaning towards "Dr. Wu" at the moment. Does anyone have the (proper) chords they could pm me? Also the notes for the sax break would be great, though I doubt I've got the chops to actually play it... One of my favourite solos on anything, it just fits the song so well. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Some, I just can't hear in this instrumentation, like Reelin in the Years, and I don't think Showbiz Kids has an interesting enough tune to play acoustically. Cheers Jules

I see nobody wants to live in Mustang Alley. Universally hated, it seems.

Hi I'd like to introduce my singer to the joys of Dan. He's more of a fan of early Psyche and the Beatles, and regards the Dan as a bit bland and mainstream. I'm looking to try a Dan cover, so it's acoustic guitar, fretless, and I harmonise the vocals, but which tunes would work? My first thoughts were "Any world I'm welcome to" and maybe "Bad Sneakers" I welcome your suggestions Cheers Jules
I've got a set of EMG Selects in a Steinberger zx2 which I'm not happy with - I feel the volume output is pretty poor - if somebody can tell me how to get the best out of them...
Sure it's not the preamp to blame?

I really like the shape of Shuker's Uberhorn basses. I realise it isn't to everyone's taste, but to me it looks like a jazz bass from the 22nd century that has evolved into a faster, sleeker beast. I think it makes "traditional" shaped basses look lumpen by comparison.

Warwick Dolphin Pro 1 - 1988 - Black - SOLD
Actually that's not "it in cherry", that's a Dolphin SN which is entirely different. The Pro 1 is upmarket of the SN (SN is setneck, no markers, chambered body, Pro 1 is through-neck, dolphin markers amongst other things). FWIW I've had 2 Dolphin Pro1s, a '91 and a '96, and the '91 was miles better than the '96 so I imagine this should be great.
Well that told 'em! I've always loved those Dolphins, such an original shape. I'd love this, but I value my knackers too much! -
Our guitarist had an Add-on microphone thing for his Ipod which worked quite well. Might be a cheaper route if you already have the pod....

Does anyone else on this thread find Genz's mid scoop button a complete waste of time? The bass and treb buttons have their use, but the mid seems really ill-conceived/implemented, I find it just sucks the life from the tone and makes the whole level appear to drop. I like everything else about it. Anyone agree/disagree?

I'm in a couple of bands: one is a duo with drums (rarely, as they both live abroad) I really like the material, but the writer hasn't written anything new for a couple of years, and we don't play live all that often. The other is a three-piece rock and acoustic outfit, the writer writes new stuff all the time and gets slightly more gigs than the other, but I don't like all the material as much. I play in this band to keep my hand in, it's not ideal, but it keeps me playing. If someting better comes along, I should be up to pace, it works for me.

That looks really comfortable. I would have made the headstock less bulbous, almost tapered.
-
Deffo interested to see how the Midget compares! I'm sure many on here feel the same.

Jack basses have a soft maple body, and that's quite light.

wood looks like maple.

That looks a decent bit of wood for a budget instrument. No reason that shouldn't sound fine. Nice job!
