Have you had a look at the basschat wiki? Lots of geeky stuff there If you were a bit more specific regarding your location you might find some local volunteers
As for cabinets 410's are always versatile, tighter response than the bigger drivers but 'lacks' bottem end. I place the lack in ''''s as you can eq the bottom end in quite easily. I went with Mark Bass for portability. 800watts in a 25kg cab? Cant get better than that. Im short, no stronger than your average man and untill very recently lived in an upstairs flat so you can understand the portability issues.
Which part of
I've decided that i'll get some lightweight cabs too, i was given a reminder of my bad back today when i did some lifting I've been casting my eye over those Berg AE cabs - they sure seem mighty fine.
did you not understand? Sure there are some very light 4x10's around but a light 4x10 is not a light cab
Plus, as any one on this forum can tell you, Mark Bass gear sounds incredible.
Beg to differ. I have seen a few guys recently using MarkBass cabs and I thought they all sounded sh*t. But then thats my opinion. Anybody reading this forum would know that the MarkBass amps are much more popular than the cabs.
  3.
I am sure somebody asked this before. The specs for the RBX cabs are not published but for the RBH the 4x10 is 3dB louder and goes 9Hz deeper so I cant understand wht anybody would buy the 115.
It was you that asked it before. Does not matter how many times you ask, I will give the same answer. It might also save some precious space on the server if you dont keep asking the same questions
  4. Buy another bass by all means but dont sell your Ibanez. You will get f*** all for it compared to the sentimental value it is likely to have. Cant really help on the fat neck apart from I have always found modern Warwicks a bit on the lardy side

  6.
Cheeky. And to think I was once in the GB/Nightingale club as well.
Sorry Could not resist when I saw your avatar
  7. Some people love it; some don't. Its never impressed me. Ashdown like to push the old 15's and 10's stack idea because their 2x10 and 4x10 cabs dont go very low according to the published frequency response, but the 4x10 is 5dB louder than the 1x15 so you probably wont notice much difference. If you like how it sounds though, buy it.
  8. best not. Impedance and resistance are not the same thing even though they are both measured in ohms (they are related).
  9.
I travel to Burnley,as a result,Im in a band that has an lp coming out next week, and are being booked nationwide, and in Europe...even the USA is being mooted.
But do they let you play the 9 ?
  10. Got my now really black fretless back with black lightweight knobs and black Hipshot lightweight bridge and tuners. Looks the dogs danglies and weighs half a pound less. Its not much but noticable at the end of a set. Its even got a black locking jack socket by cannibalising an XLR cos Bernie did not have any. Just one little chrome switch left. Bernie wants to try single coils and the new pre-amp with the "trad" switch as well. Hot news is Bernie and Dick are developing some new pickups to be made in house. Tried the first one on a passive jazz - wow. They are gonna be hot hot hot.
  11. What does it say in the contract you have with him? If there is no contract he can charge what he likes.
  12. As old orange face would say; cheap as chips !!!!!!!!
  13. May I be as bold as to suggest ditching the 15 and getting another 2x10? You never know, all this bollocks I keep spouting about mixing cabs may actually be right
  14.
If the cabs go I may be interested in the amp.
Sorry - the amp only come right handed
  15.
I have got NO idea what the *#@% they are talking about but I am interested, as that is what I wish to buy.....a 4x10 and a 1x15, am I doing the wrong thing then,...???
Probably
  16. Plenty of choice for that sort of money. I have not tried the Berg AE's but they do seem very popular. I tried the non neo Bergs but they were just too heavy. You could even get the new TC Rebelhead 450 rig.
  17. Well electricity and gas prices are up and down like a whore's drawers but its still a lot more expensive than it was 2 years ago. You have 2 choices, pay up or move out.
  18. Why not do both? In lots of places the originals and pub covers bands are completely different venues/scene. Gte a pub covers going while you spend more time on the originals - then if the originals comes to nothing like it often does you still have the covers.
  19.
If you have bad back problems then I'd look at a couple of neo 112's. Aguilar sounds very good but isn't neo, which is why I got rid of my GS112 cabs! Light 12's are usually in the mid 30lbs, light 2x10's are about 40lbs and light 4x10's and 2x12's are about 60lbs. Some of the best neo cabs are Epifani, Bergantino, Markbass, EBS, GK, Genz, Tecamp, Schroeder and Barefacedbass cabs. Get a dolly board or aluminium trolley.
What 'e said. There is a bit in the basschat wiki about lightweight cabs but I did a better job elsewhere (and amps too - must update)
  20. The new Hiwatts are not the same as the old Hiwatts, but still f***ing marvellous. Biggest mistake I ever made selling mu old Custom 100 (proper one)
  21.
Has anyone seen that film with Bill Murray, Groundhog Day?
I know
  22. There is nothing wrong with the cheap (and not so cheap) and cheerful options already suggested. I would be inclined to get an EBS Microbass II if funds allow. They do crop up from time to time or I am sure Mr Goodfellow will have an ex-dem one (just taken out of the box) he will let you have for a suitable discount.
  23.
You should answer Alex's enquiries.
??????????????????????????????????
PS: Sorry if I ruffled your feathers ferret.
No feathers ruffled. I just dont think I should not say anything, be gagged if you like, if somebody wants to do something I dont think is right.
  24. OK so the next time somebody asks what 15 to get I'll just say none with no explanation. Is that OK with you?
