1. Some pics to keep you going until I get some better ones. Took it to Bernie tonight for some tweaks - Andre had guitar strings on it. He was trying to fix a lads Manson for him, they are in the studio tomorrow and his bass kept cutting out. Bernie gave it a good squirt of pot cleaner and the pre-amp fell to bits. Poor kid paid 1500 quid and only got a gig bag to put it in. Bernie tried his best but could not fix it. Anyway I let him have a go on my Rumour while Bernie was poncing about, but his eyes popped out like organ stops when I got my black fretless out. And he could have had that for what he paid for the Manson.
2. Both have the same strings - Status Hotwire halfs - but the Spitfire has the old Spitfire circuit as well as different body wood.

Ibanez

Good basses. Good value. There are other options for sale on here for £600 and thats getting to Lakland Skyline money and lots of other quality basses.
4. Dont know really. I would have to use them both at rehersal at least before I could say one was better than the other. Yes they sound different solo'd but I suspect that when I use them with the band the differences will be less noticible, and I wont slap so I could not comment on that. And the fretless is always going to have a different sound.
5. Yes I would say thats exactly it. Its probably more than the through neck. The body is alder as opposed to swamp ash (although it is lighter but thats probably the bridge and metal knobs and will be fixed when it gets stealthed). If I cut all the bass from the Rumour it sounds more like the Spitfire but if I boost the bass on the Spitfire it sounds nothing like the Rumour
6. Yes the neck is skinny. It sounds so much different to the Spitfire with the same strings I am wondering if Status have changed their strings. Looks wise I am not fussed. Preferred the quilt maple on the one in Kent but he wants a lot more money so he didn't get mine.
7. How did you guess Couldn't resist it.
8. You're on. I am a tart - I will try anything
9. Yes. He has hopefully sold his Wal as well to pay for the Fodera. What did you think of it?
10.
I got a Rumour
Pics later.
11. Had the chance to play both a Fodera and a GB Rumour last night. They were different and the Fodera can be used passive. Would not like to say which was best without gigging them - both great basses and I am very happy with my new Rumour.

13. I am not convinced about Markbass cabs. Your budget will strech to the Nemesis RS400 but if you want proper Eden you need to look for used. There was a couple of David Series 2x10's for sale but they were not the neo and I cant recall anyone having the neo's. There have been a few Genz Shuttles sold on recently so you might be lucky.
14. How can you play a 6 string pedulla for a motown gig???????????? Its got to be a P bass with flats!!!!!!!!!!!
15. No indication of budget? Dont know how they compare to Eden cos I never used it, but the Genz Benz Shuttle and NeoX210T (50 lbs) would be a cracking rig. Eden do a D210XST Neo cab that comes in at 49 lbs and the Nemesis N210RS at 47 lbs. Tecamp do some nice light cabs and amps as well. These have not been available but seeing as BGM reviewed some this month I assume they will be in the shops soon. The S210 is 39 lbs and the M210 40 lbs.
16.
In what way "affects audiability"? I agree about the pre-shape - take it off and the sound noticable drops.
Exactly! It sounds louder because you are boosting the treble and bass and cutting the mids. But in a band context you sometimes need the mids to cut through the other instruments so it can be the wrong sort of loud. Sometimes its better to turn off the pre-shape and turn up the volume.
17.
you should really check out the Barefaced range... http://barefacedbass.com/thebigone.html
What is it like at gigging volumes? Does it cut through enough without a tweeter?
18. You really do get a lot more choice with head and cab. The EBS Neo combo's are great but not cheap. Still not convinced about Markbass. Seen a few gigs with guys using it and I have not been impressed. May sound great on stage mind.

20.
I like cheese
So do I I still wonder if they are that much better than Wal, Sei, GB etc etc etc
21. Bugger - missed it again. Lucky I've got Standing on DVD for ad-hoc worship. Anyone who does not dig Jamerson or Duck is not a real bass player IMO.
22. I would not expect to hear a difference between 300w and 450w to be honest. Having said that the trace was audiably louder with the preset on - something that robs the mids and usually affects audiability. Perhaps there is more to amp/cab synergy than I thought.
23. But the big fat old bass sound is just the twist of a knob away if I want it
24. Are Fodera's really that good to sell such great basses to fund one. Flippyflop is selling a Wal and a Rumour to fund his!
