1. I am not very happy with the sound of my new baby and its going back to daddy for a jolly good shake up. I'll be gutted if its the wood
2. About the same weight as my Genz then. Call me interested. I'm only down the road as well Maybe I could join the customer programme
3. big baby looks cool - whats the size and weight looking like ?
4. the original broadcast was probably the first time it was heard in the UK apart from imports - I can remember watching it. Tina does not look so foxy - almost deliberately unfoxy
5. WHat happened to all the BCR's ? You cant have sold them all !
6. Depending on budget, Peavey and EBS do 4 ohm cabs - as do lots of others. You will have to trawl the interweb i'm afraid to find out what does 4 ohms.
7.
Where did you try it? And what model was that? I visited Enrico's place some time ago and most of the basses I could play there were extremely good. Although, nobody is perfect and you can always find not-so-good basses from any manfacturer. I've heard quite bad stories even about some 10K basses.
I tried one at Bass Direct here in the UK. It was a Spectrum 5 string. We had a good thrash with a number of exotic basses and my GB's. I was really buying amps but the opportunity to try so many lovely basses was too good to miss. But I did not play anything that made we want to change my basses.
8. Looks cool. Not overkeen on the plate TBH. I was not over impressed when I tried a W&T but then we all like different things. +1 on the coffee table bit - I like solid colours.
9. All quiet from Guns? Must be love Done 2 gigs now with Gracie and all is not well. Dont know what Andre has done to it Think I will go single coil and the new pre with the precision switch. Sounded good on a red Rumour that Bernie has laying around that appears to be nameless
10. I refer back to my previous post Said luthier is also of the opinion that if you put EMG's on a bass it will sound like all the other basses with EMG's etc, etc.
11.
Oh god, here we go again...another convo about wood, and all the whys and wherefor....then it degenerates into pro wood vs Paint..."COZ I DONT WANT MY BASS TO LOOK LIKE A TABLE" type posts....
I have f***ed up there Ross Still I do know a luthier who says he can get a great sound out of a table, but it would play like sh*t
12. Cheer up Al! Never seen someone look so miserable after dicking United
13.
They go through a doorway when carried by the handles?
This is something that really p****s me off and why I ended up selling my EBS Neo 212 that was otherwise perfect. It was a super light cab but having to limbo through doorways was still too much.
14. I was about to start another thread about tweeters after reading WOT's comments on his Berg's and I remembered this one. The thing that puzzles me is that you can find the same tweeter being used in cabs from 1x10 to 8x10. Although they usually have some form of attenuation it still seems to me that a tweeter in a 1x10 is gonna be way louder than the same tweeter in an 8x10 unless it is already attenuated to match the cab when built.
15. You will find lots of threads with lots of opinions on lots of strings. Try and use the search facility although its a bit ropey.
16. The only thing I can suggest for wiring creativity is to draw it out on the old mk 1 pen and paper
17.
I've had various normal/lightweight rigs, but my latest just seems to pip everything by quite a bit. It's very light - 2.6kg for the head and 20kg for the cab. It's more than loud enough and has plenty bottom end (which is very tight). I really couldn't be happier (and amp/cabs are my weak point as far as GAS goes). However, the TC Rebel 450 looks mighty interesting........ TecAmp Puma 500 TecAmp 212 4 ohm I'm just over the water if you want a go. D.
Nice. Very nice. As reviewed in the current BGM (nearly). Must admit I have not seen a lot of evidence of Rosetti trying to sell them.
18. Meters dont usually read impedence cos it varies by frequency. Its a nominal value. As for whether you can make an 8x10 from 8 ohm speakers I cant be arsed to do the maths (or math as Bill would say) so you will have to do it yourself. There is a link to an impedence calculator somewhere on here.
19.
I'm currently gigging an AE112 and an AE210 and in my opinion they work really well together. The sound is huge and punchy and the clarity is unbelievable. I guess some of this is down to the Thunderfunk but I can't think of a better rig. I tried 2 AE112's and the sound was too mellow for me so I added the punch of the AE210 and hey presto! Believe the specs, these cabs really are light! Oh, and you can daisy chain these cabs. Tom Bowlus, on Talkbass, is also a fan of the AE112/AE210 combination. He has posted some comments that you can look up.
Sometimes I think you are stalking me, or my mantra of not mixing cabs. The way I see it is this. If the OP can try all the different combinations of AE112/AE210 and decide that he likes the sound of both together the best then he should buy it. If he is not able to try, as is the case with many users of this forum, then he should stick to two the same, and not mix them up cos you and some fella on talkbass like it !
20. Likewise. Although we did Romeo and Juliet better Not sure if its a number a lot of covers bands would try - as a 3 piece :brow:
21. Five cop cars and an ambulance. And that was before we did I Predict A Riot !
22.
Actually he can't, due to the amended Utilities Act 2000, as of 1st January 2003 landlords can't re-sell utilities to tenants at a price higher than they've paid. This was the first thing Energywatch told me!
Didn't know that. I used to work for the electricity board before they were privatised and it was a serious problem, particularly with multiple occupancy buildings.
23.
Thanks bass ferret for clearing that up
No problem mate. I just cant stop myself when I see people saying 4x10's dont have bottom Why a 210 and 112? I would be inclined to have two of either rather than one of each. Make sure you try before you buy. One thing to watch with the Rebelhead, it only has one output so you must be able to daisy chain the cabs.
