  1. I find there’s an inverse relationship between how much I think about instruments and how much I play. The more gigs I play the less I care about the guitar. I’ve a lovely collection of basses from vintage to bespoke and settled on a classic modern Fender. The reason? I know it works… If you can try both and find one that’s a tool that helps you achieve the result you want.
  2. Always wanted one of these. Looks amazing!
  3. I list all my bases at the price I'll accept (with the addition of fees and associated nonsense that eBay brings). That means BC members get a healthy discount. eBay is basically gumtree now. It's an online marketplace offering fixed price listings for most things.
  4. Yes, I get that. In the end, we built a room around the DB (as preposterous as that sounds, it's true). In the end we converted my loft and I've got the DB up there now. It's a great adventure that never ends...
  5. Also, I'm not sure if Simon is still setting them up, but if he is then that's worth every penny. Simon is one of the best guitar and bass techs out there, as well as being a thoroughly lovely chap.
  6. I thought books and low value packages were outside of duty calculations. Such a shame!
  7. Turns out, Jeff is a Bassmaster! https://m.bassmaster.com/anglers/jeff-duncan-0 (Caution: May contain fishing content!)
  8. I’d recommend getting some lessons. You’ll also likely find that as soon as you play a real DB you’ll want one (I know I did). The DB does something to people that I don’t quite understand. I could basically play 5 notes in tune and got gigs. It really is that easy (and I was rubbish). It’s like being the popular kid at school…
  9. Few in the queue for this one. But will update the listing as soon as it’s gone…

  11. I got this years ago in a box of stuff. I think it’s for use with a looper. You stamp on it and it provides the bass drum sound. I’m no Ed Sheeran, bjt perhaps you are? If so. It’s yours for postage…

  13. Here are two pretty much brand new Session Cakes from Yamaha. These come boxes with all instructions. I don’t have the phono leads with these (I’ll see if I can find them!) These were super expensive years ago, but I don’t know what they’re worth know so taken a punt. Prices include postage. £20 for the SC01 £30 for the SC02
  14. Just the medium scale chromes left now! I’ve checked and I think £40 delivered is fair.
  15. Looks lovely. Just realised I should have stuck my pension into early 70s jazz basses!
  16. yes, it’s medium scale.
  17. Always happy to meet at Newbury!!!
  18. This is a classic “pie crust” SB 50 in honest original condition. These are exceptionally rare in the U.K. As you can see, this is in used condition and has some honest wear. I bought his from Ash and while there is a laquer crack in the neck pocket thankfully this isn’t structural. Loads of life left in the frets. Truss rod is fine and the bass is set up nicely. However there’s a crackle when it’s plugged in. I was going to get this sorted by the luthier I normally go to, but I don’t have the time. It’s likely to be a dry joint or maybe even a bit of switch cleaner. Still, I can’t be sure. Im looking for £300 £285. If it doesn’t sell I’ll get it set up and sorted (and knowing me, will keep it!). Bass is in Bristol and would be preferred to collect/meet up.
  19. I’m almost on the home stretch on my bass clear out! This is a well used but thoroughly wonderful Yamaha TRBX505 bass I translucent white. This thing plays and sounds wonderful, and is beautifully made. It’s a genuine wonder how they do it for the price. All functions perfectly, sounds great and (to me at least) looks fantastic too. You can see some of the marks, but the damage is minimal and is typical for a gigging instrument. It’s currently wearing D’Addario Chromes which are perfect (for me). Price is £275 I can probably post this now, too. Specs here: Body: Mahogany Bolt-on 5-piece maple / mahogany neck Fretboard: Rosewood </i>(Dalbergia latifolia)</i> 24 Frets Length: 864 mm (long scale) Nut width: 43 mm 2 Yamaha alnico humbucker pickups 3-Band electronics with controls for volume, balance, bass, mids, treble Active / Passive switch Black chrome Yamaha hardware Colour: Transluscent White
  20. If you don’t need huge volume, I’d recommend an AER. These amps are the absolute best out there and sound incredible, however they’re not cheap.
  21. Thanks to the delivery of a new Martin guitar (the clear out has, err stalled) I'm able to post this now as I have a proper study box.
