This is from my first band, we played '90s punk and this is where it all started for me; this is from the album we recorded in 2013 after 3 years of playig together, righ before splitting (as it always happens) Straight forward to 2020, this is the last release of my stoner/instrumental/desert trio Dune Rosse, right before the drummer moved and going on hiatus: Fun fact: I used the same P bass in both bands, the only difference being 9 years of experience & wear and the latest one being in C standard.

The perfect tone is something we'll never reach if not for a few days, and than as soon as we get used to something we start craving for something else... Just get a decent P bass (Squier CV, Modern Player w/upgraded pickup, or a Vintera) and you may be on the right path. In case you need to sell, part with the bass you use less.

I'm the proud owner of an ABM500 EvoII RC from 2007 that I bought used about 4 years ago. I used it live with 4 different bands and genres, recorded stoner and shoegaze alike greatly. I added the Gator case last year during lockdown. It's very heavy but worth it IMHO.

My best purchase for this year had been a Mooer Radar cabsim that I'm sticking on ther back on my ABM head with my own cabinet's Ir so that I can always have my mic'd sound available. Also my customized Thomann P bass kit:

Sooo I completely forgot to update this thread. As I took the bass to the luthier, he confirmed the neck was shot as the truss rod had no action: it would have needed replacement, a kind of expense I wasn't keen on taking for such bass. I went ahead and bought the Fender neck after recieving confirmation about the heel measures, as I thought that once I had an expense, it could have very well been a decent upgrade (mostly because the Fender neck was 40% off). It wasn't an easy fit after all because the neck heel screw holes had to be moved, and since I decided to keep the Squier tuning machines he kinda fought with the headstock as the holes for the tuning machine trees had to be slightly enlarged. He complimented the neck quality wise, also telling me that since it hadn't been sitting in a shop with the string tension ruining it in case of lack of care, it would keep very stable and straight. I was scared the finish would be too pale as I love vintage looking necks, but it's got a nice tone while still being not dark and I really appreciate it. As I played it a few days I deecided I needed a different pickguard, and since I couldn't find what I was looking for I made myself a matte black one. Here's the bad boy. All things considered it turned into a really good instrument, the tone is very nice (yet I'm thinking about a pickup upgrade, mostly to kill the hum) and this Fender replacement neck is really awesome. The shape is very chunky yet incredibly comfortable to play. That's all folks.

Good day, I'm looking for some information regarding this very neck sold by Fender https://shop.fender.com/it-IT/parts/electric-bass-parts/necks/replacement-necks/fender-1951-precision-bass-neck/0990202921.html I just got a used Squier Classic Vibe '50s (2020) P bass and the neck is probably shot since the truss rod won't have any effect on the curvature. Since I bought this bass to be in C tuning, I could solve the problem by using almost standard gauge strings, which would put very little force over the neck, being tuned two steps down and call it a day the cheapest way. Clearly the thought of not being able to play it in standard if I wanted or to fine tune the setup is very annoying. Of course I bought it used quite cheap so returning is not an option. The point is that I'm thinking about the chance of upgrading it with a better neck since I really like the bass apart from this deadly problem and I can't find the Fender neck heel measures anywhere and I'm not really into taking another chance. Did anyone do the same swap? Anyone got a contact I could ask this info to? I already wrote to an Italian dealer selling this very neck and they can't get me the data....

There's so much inspiration in these post for nice pedals, must control myself or my wallet will cry. Anyway, I'll do my best at enjoying what I own: This is my current board, used in two different projects. From the left, I got an always-on Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop to always have my sound lightly overdriven. I truly love how that pedal shapes the bass tone. I'm a pick player not into large fat sounds anyway and it really suits. Than the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine which, of course, fuzzes. Alternatively I have a standard Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop set up for for a more overdriven tone, and at the beginning of the chain (yes indeed) EHX Bass Clone chorus & Holy Grail Max reverb. Tuner's a TC Poly black mini. I play alt-rock/90s/acoustic/shoegaze/indie/post-rock&punk with this one. This is instead the old pb I used in my instrumental post-rock/desert trio: I used a P bass tuned in C standard with Re'62 pickups and 50-110 Rotosound flats, resulting in a very low output. I boosted it with the HotTubes (always on) to feed it to the COG Knightfall 66 on which had two levels of gain set; one of the two was my always on/standard tone. Than I had the Pog2, Freeze and Helix for weird/trippy sounding sections, and the Blower Box for the most distorted tones. I did some swells too with the Dunlop volume. This has only been used on that very specific band since it was all fine tuned to work with that bass and bandmates. Damn, I miss them.

Short scales are simply getting rid of those "chaper, begginner-aimed" tags they had for decades IMHO. There are many great quality SSs that envy nothing to longer scale basses nowadays and probably people just like them. When they came out there wasn't much choice and for example the Musicmasters were actually cheaper and beginner-aimed..

I've owned a Bronco for about 5 years as I always wanted a shorty on a budget. I must admit I really love how it looks since it's got that '70s derp (pretty much that being simple looks, contrasting colors, and maple) but I never really used it much because the E string literally kills all the others.. I actually like the sound and this defect really bugs me. It's got an interesting story: I was planning to visit New York in 2016, and I really wanted to come home with a bass. Since long scale wouldn't fit my luggage I looked up cheap SSs and found this one in California; I had it shipped to the nearest Guitar Center to the room I had, got it home by walking, and than to Italy with me. I must say I suffered elbow pain since using it at rehersal holding it *higher* than my other basses about one year ago, thus having my arm do a tighter angle. I wish I'd play it more but it absurdly literally kills me since than..

I will never sell my first P bass, which has been my second bass overall. I bought it a few months after starting to play because I knew I wouldn't stop any time soon (it's been 13 years) so I put most of my pocket money in it. I pretty much learned to play on it, played my first and latests gigs, recorded 4 albums. It feels like a friend.
