  1. Hi all, I'm selling my lovely P bass, which was put together by the legend @Sammybass from quality parts. It's got a modern Mexican jazz neck, a Mexican body from the '90s and everyone's favourite Seymour Duncan pick-up. The pots, machine heads (Gotoh, I think) and bridge have a cool burnished/ aged effect and it's in good cosmetic condition; I've tried to picture the few minor dings. Full disclosure: the E string machine head is missing two screws (like this when I bought it), but this hasn't affected the tuning stability at all. I've gigged this bass a fair bit, and it has always held its own! I don't currently have a spare gig bag or case, so dropping it off or meeting up (within a reasonable distance) would be preferable. However, I'm not opposed to sourcing a case and posting at cost- I'm up for a discussion. Selling this at pretty much the same price I bought it for (plus a little extra for service & set-up work); I hope someone gets as much enjoyment from it as I have. Any questions, give me a shout. Cheers, Will
  2. It's not a no, but I haven't shipped stuff to the Republic before. It looks like postage is about a tenner before customs charges etc.
  3. This delicious pedal isn't seeing much use at the minute, so it's up for sale. Massive gated fuzz & gnarly octave in one. No box but in excellent condition. It's been well-gigged and has velcro underneath, but has always been well taken care of. Happy to post for £5.00.
  4. Now surplus to requirements, I'm selling my ever-faithful M87. Super transparent and flexible compressor, with excellent metering. It's been gigged a lot, but has always been on my board and is in excellent condition. I'm pretty sure I still have the box too! Not particularly looking for trades, but open to the possibility. Happy to post for a fiver.
  5. A friend & colleague of mine runs AXE Custom Cables- amazing quality & service. Really changed my mind about high-end jacks! https://www.axecustomcables.com
  6. Earthquaker Avalanche Run? I don't actually own one (too many $$$), but a student of mine had one and it sounded outrageous.
  7. Sorry for the spam. More Doobie, for you when you want your mind to be bent out of shape.
  8. I've got to throw some Doobie in the mix The feel is immaculate.
  9. I met with Sam to buy his lovingly upgraded P-bass. Lovely guy & a total pleasure to deal with!
  10. That's pretty great. She can SING too.
  11. I'm a bit on the fence too. I really love his playing and musical ideas, but I find his approach to education can be lacking in insight or subtlety. This video is a good example- it seems like most of the script is 'then it's this chord then this chord and then it changes key and I'mlikewhaaaaaaaaat!'
  12. Kicking myself that I didn't bag this!
  13. Bought a bass neck from Sean- no fuss & quick communication. Solid guy to deal with.
  14. Just because I love this pedal sooooooooooo much: bump. Fuzz= utter filth (or sensible, if you want) Octave= great tracking, loads of possibilities
  15. At the risk of sounding annoying, I honestly think the best thing to do is to transcribe/steal/learn some licks from guys you want to sound like. Even in the most ubiquitous funk tunes there will be some cool ideas for the taking (all those great Bernard Edwards lines in Chic/Sister Sledge). In terms of the vocabulary/theory, perhaps the rhythmic content is more significant than the melodic- it's really worth listening to and working syncopation and accents. When you mentioned 'taking the funk out', that's what I immediately thought of! In terms of chord/scales, there is a lot of pentatonic stuff, with or without 'blue notes' and use of the dorian mode (e.g. Good Times). I do reckon it's better to learn/copy/trascrirbe ideas first, then rationalise/theorise afterwards- that way you'll be able to learn how to use scales in a musical way.
  16. Tell me about it! That's the open secret of instagram... Whatever way you did it though, it sounds mega!
  17. First time hearing this track........ It's just so great. Thanks Bilbo!
  18. I played bass on on this remote collaboration, check it out if you want! There are a couple of other tunes on the Virtual Big Band's socials as well.
  19. Just sold an OC2 to Rob- straight up guy, easy sale. Cheers!
