1.
From what the OP has said, I’m not sure he wants more of the same: it sounds like he wants deeper lows. Adding another 4x10 won’t make any difference to the low-end extension. The only way of getting that is adding a cab that goes deep. I've no way of knowing whether the Peavy 15 will do that or whether it will be compatible. But it might, and I wouldn't discount it without trying it out first. Especially as money is tight.
Then the aim of this discussion should be to define exactly what the OP means by "Oomph". I bet he wishes he hadn't asked now. Ashdown quote an extra 23Hz of lowend for the MAG115 below the 4x10 so in theory the cab will produce 27Hz if the user were so inclined, but all I've found extreme low end to be useful for is creating lots of boom and window rattle and ensuring that I spend half the gig trying to EQ it out. I bet our friend Jauqo 111X would love it though
 2.
Selling cars is the worst, We just sold a 56 plate Golf and the first bloke that came to look at it said it was for his son who was at uni. He liked it but explained to me that he wasn't sure about some stone chips which is fair enough but already allowed for in the price compared to others available on the net (which may all have stone chips too?) and the fact his son really wanted a four door instead of two? Now the add has a full description and many photos of the car yet he was using that as a bargaining point? afaik the 2 door model is all legit, it's not a four door with the doors welded up! Easiest thing with basses is to not sell any, Just buy more
+1 but at least selling on the internet you can just say no. With cars the tyrekicker in question is most likely round your house and being face to face adds an extra element of pressure I was selling a Mondeo a few years ago and the usual "I know more about cars than you" bonehead turned up to look at it. "This is wrong with it", "That's wrong with it", "it hasn't got all the usual Ghia features", It hasn't got a trip computer", " The injectors are leaking and are going to need re-seating" He says, pointing at the glow plugs. At this point I'd already bought another car and I just wanted rid of the Mondeo. It was 10 years old with 180,000 on it, and the first person to offer me £200 would have got it (I advertised it for £400) but this fool wound me up so much I just told him to get lost. I think I took £100 for it in the end
 3.
I think this is the first time I've seen anyone resorting to namecalling on Basschat.
Let me put it another way without namecalling. I've found that a 4x10 produces more thump, thud, thunk, whump or whatever other unscientific name you call the sound bass players like than a 1x15. IME, YMMV of course. I'm sure you can make a case why that extra 10 or so Hz of bass extension manufacturers quote makes all the difference.
 4. The Troll's been gorging itself and.............
Yes, I've heard that too. You really would expect the opposite to be the case though. You'd expect the average 15" driver to go lower than your average 10" driver because of its lower resonant frequency and greater excursion.
5. I used to have a pink bass. I think it's one of the very best colours, but there are some sad w***ers around who start giving you funny looks when you pull a pink bass out of a gig bag
 6.
Looking at the Ashdown 410 cab which is 8ohm, its 450 watt is the amp going to have the guts to run it. the cab ashdown recommend is only 250 watts.
Should be Ok. I've used 4x10s rated higher than that which start farting out at half the manufacturers rating, and the Ashdown is a budget cab so I would be surprised if it'd handle 450 watts cleanly. Don't pay too much attention to manufacturers ratings
 7.
Thanks for the replies, Hadn't thought about adding another 410 cab. I had thought that the 115 cab would give it the lows. I can get a new ashdown 410 cab out here for €250 so might give that some thought.
If you like the sound you get now but want more of it then get another Ashdown 4x10. It's a misconception that a 15 will add lows as most 4x10s will produce just as much low end. IME I've found mixing cabs with different driver sizes to give quite inconsistant results. Sometimes it sounded great, sometimes sh*te. It'll be a step into unknown territory and add other variables like room acoustics and EQ settings and it starts to get complicated.
 8.
Just noticed this thread Dave. Being a 1212L and Compact (and Midget) owner I'll chip in. At absolute full tilt I think the 1212L will be slightly louder. But the loudness comes at the price of a mid-heavy tone and gets tiring on the ears I think. The Compact is almost as loud but has a vastly more rounded tone and is a more pleasing sound. A Compact is a lot deeper than a 1212L, there's not much difference in size but the Compact is a lot lighter and an easier shape for carrying. I would have no problem in choosing the Compact over the 1212L and the 1212L is a very useful gigging cab too as we both know well. It's just that the Compact is more versitile all round. Frank.
I made the same move myself, from 1212L to Compact. I can't really add anything to Frank's post except that the only application where I would favour the Schoeder over the Compact is where I'd be struggling to be heard over loud guitars and drums, but as I try and avoid bands like that now I have no use for the Schroeder. I finally shifted the Schroeder in favour of the Compact when I started playing in a quieter band with a more sparse mix and I found the Schoeder mid honk too tiring. The fuller sound of the Compact just filled up the bottom end of the sound better.
 9. I found the Musikmesse demo by Dan Gooday rather underwhelming. Ashdown could take a leaf out of TCE's book for publicity and keeping the hype going. The fact that it delivers full power into 4 or 8 ohms is interesting and could be a good USP
 10.
Not an enormous amount of interest though. Have I priced it fairly enough?
If it went straight away you'd be thinking you priced it too low. It's probably just that no one is looking for one at the moment but that could change at any time. You only posted the original ad 3 days ago.

 12.
I kinda figured that although the speaker size is only 2" in diameter less than the Ashdown, the extra 70W in the Promethean would balance out the volume.
That "only 2"" translates to a lot of extra speaker cone area and speaker cone area is probably more important for volume than how many watts you are putting into it so your logic is flawed I'm afraid. There are many factors that contribute to perceived volume and the only way to find out is to try it and see. Anyway, don't get him started on Ashdown. They're all crap y'know
 13.
C) I like GK enough to associate myself with them. I used GK amps before I was endorsed, I don't get paid by them, I choose to recommend them because they're great amps IMO.
Yeah yeah, they all say that. I didn't say the MB210 is bad, but it is a budget amp and will sound inferior to the GK/Harke rig. To make a combo that lightweight at that price point will mean a lot of corners have been cut in build quality. Constructively speaking the OP wants a lighter rig whilst (presumably) maintaining quality and that is going to cost more money. Buy cheap, buy twice is an unfortunate fact of life. I would suggest looking in the classifieds for a lightweight head like Markbass, TCE, GB, GK and then pairing it with a Barefaced or Markbass cab. Of course if he wants to buy new and buy now it will be almost impossible to match his existing rig for the budget he is suggesting.
 14. That finish would cost you thousands from a custom bass maker. Sorry I don't want to buy it either.
 15.
I agree. But so expensive. I can't justify dropping £700-£850 on a small combo, but £475 is more manageable.
If you want lightweight and quality it's going to cost. You can't avoid that and buying the GK because it's cheap will inevitably lead to having to upgrade in the future. You seem to be ignoring all the good advice in this thread except for the one poster you should be ignoring, Thombassmonkey, who will recommend GK at every opportunity because he is a GK endorsee.
 16. Have you tried Simplified Sight Reading for Bass by Josquin des Pres published by Hal Leonard. It breaks the process down into easy exercises. It may be just a matter of finding the right learning tools
 17.
Never bought any item from him but we have talked many times and is a great chap, I think absolutely reliable. His name is David.
Thanks for your reply. Do you know anything about him? He sells a lot of Fenders that he says are "new and unused" but at the prices he charges they can't actually be new. I don't think he's an official Fender dealer either. Just curious that's all. I'm thinking of buying the '62 reissue Jazz
 18. Has anyone had any dealings with This guy

 20.
Its a regular AV RI. And its clearly a 2005 model.
Crikey. Bang on. How did you know that? I sent him a message asking whether it was nitro finished, did he have the CS CoA and why he is describing it as a Fullerton and this is what he replied. "Yes the bass is finished in nitro, and is the re-issue of the fullerton 1982 model, and it was produced in USA and the nitro finish applied by the custom shop. I was lead to believe that the bass was new in 2002 but I have removed the neck to check to date and it says Oct 2005, i have taken photos and will try to add them to the listing". Hmm... FoS methinks
 21.
it's odd, people replacing 'squier' with 'fender' I could understand- but why would someone want to pretend their squier bass was made anywhere but japan?
Maybe someone's still pissed about Pearl Harbour
 22. Great basses. I've had GAS for one of those for ages. I think I too have had a play of that one in GAK. Would've bought it except for the "Special Deal"* they offered me when I told them in advance I was coming in to try it. * 200 quid more than the price advertised on their website
 23. I've always had the same problem and no amount of practise cured it which is probably indicative of poor technique. As icastle says, make sure the bass is set up properly, but also find a good teacher to look at your technique to highlight any problems.
 24.
That looks stunning Mike. What's the difference next to a stingray? Have a bump.
Very little IME. I owned one just like that and when I bought it I compared it with a couple of Stingrays in the shop. Any differences I could detect could be just down to setup. AFAIAA these are made to the same specs as the US ones but produced in Indonesia where labour is cheaper. The body wood is also different I believe.
 25. Thanks for the replies. Yeah the BIN is a bit steep. Still, chuck all the buzzwords in and someone may bite. I did ask him the same question but he hasn't replied
