1. Hello from rainy Portsmouth and welcome to BC
2. I played a gig once in a fairly big hall and the supplied backline was a Hartke 410 Transporter and a Hartke HA head, I can't recall which model. The Transporter's a lightweight on a budget version of the XL cab, so probably not as good sounding, but I really liked it. Not a lot of bottom end but clear and punchy. I'm a fan of Hartke gear in general. If it's within your budget I don't think you'll be disappointed. As others have said, Ashdown, Peavey, Trace Elliot. The usual suspects. It's all good gear and you can buy in the classifieds on here with confidence.
3. Are you looking for a head + cab or combo? Also what do you plan to use it for? Are you looking to get into a gigging band so does it need to be man enough to compete with drummers and guitarists, or just something better quality for home use?
4. I wouldn't regard a Peavey Tour as an upgrade from an Ashdown ABM unless, as Musky says, you're thinking of the weight saving.
5.
Thanks to you I used to be a prototype wireman in a previous world, worked for Vox a while, late 60's/70's, mostly on the amps & organs. Cheerz, John
Hey!! That's my trade. Not so much actual prototype work around these days though, and I've never worked for anyone famous in the music biz. Edit: Beautiful workmanship Jakov. Some of the best I've seen.
6. Violin, Flute, then guitar. Bought a bass because my mate was a guitarist and was better than me and someone had to play the bass and it ended up being me.
7. I think the 600w rating on the label is what it draws from the mains, not the output power. The LM2/3 are rated at 500w and actually chuck out about 440w. They've never made a 600w version
8. I've got an Admira Flamenco for sale. I bought this with the intention of learning to play it but a new born baby and 2 year old have other ideas. This is an actual Spanish made guitar as opposed to Chinese and in absolutely mint condition. Cost £250 new. I'm looking for £150. It doesn't have a case so I can't post but will meet halfway within reason.
9. While loading my gear in the back of the drummer's van I left my amp standing on it's end on the pavement, got in the van and drove off. i only realised I didn't have it when we got to our practise space. It was only an old Carlsboro B150 but all I could afford at the time so losing it would've been a disaster. Luckily one of my neighbours had seen it and taken it inside and when we arrived back she brought it out.
10.
Teenage Kicks into your late 50's shouldn't be allowed, however 'cool' a Dad you may be
I've played it in my 20s, 30s and 40s and no doubt I'll be playing it in my 50s and 60s as well Can't help you with the amp though
11. Bought a Precision harness off John. Nice neat job and superfast delivery
12. The iamp 900 I owned had no fan at all. EA claimed the circuitry ran cool so it didn't need one. It's not exactly a micro amp but I wonder if the same principle extends to the current EA range.
13. Ordered a Precision body on Sunday from Warmoth in the States and it arrived Wednesday lunchtime. Unfortunately the man in brown wouldn't hand it over to Mrs Thrust without her first paying a considerable ransom in hard currency, which she didn't have, so I didn't get my sticky paws on it until today but still, I'm impressed. Build thread coming soon
14. I did something similar when the keyboard player's power amp croaked. My spare amp was an Iamp800 so he put his keyboard mixer through that and it worked fine with no problems driving his PA speakers. I guess a power amp is a power amp but then I'm don't profess to be an expert
15. +1 for small claims court, although I doubt it would get that far. They're not going to want to go to court over it. You had a verbal contract which they've broken and they haven't got a leg to stand on. The fact that they let you finish before refusing to pay is outrageous. They obviously thought you were good enough to play for the whole evening

17. Yeah, great little combos. IIRC they only made them for a year or so back in 1997/98 so they're pretty rare. There is an items wanted column down near the bottom of the BC home page. You may be better off posting there.
18.
Gorgeous bass. Just out of interest, do fender currently make any shell pink models or is it custom shop only?
Yeah Custom Shop only if you want MIA, but I did own a shell pink MIJ '62 reissue. Don't know if they still make them but I really miss that bass.
19. I had a 410L which I used with an ABM500. Great sound and loud enough to make the walls shake. It is truly a one cab solution, you'll never need to pair it with anything else. I wouldn't bother too much about the Schroeder "sound". That tends to apply to the medium and small cabs like the 1210 and 1212. The big ones have more of a balanced sound. They may have a bit of a mid hump but it's not really prominent enough to become annoying at low volumes or in a sparse mix.
