1.
How did the Jazz get such a uniform wear pattern between the pickups??
Looks like thumbnail wear to me. What a beautiful Jazz.
2. I paid about £50 to ship a bass to Madrid recently. IIRC about half of that was enhanced insurance cover because the value of the bass was over £1000. That was using interparcel
3. What is the impedance of the 2x10? if it's 8 ohm and your 4x10 is 4 ohm then it wouldn't be working twice as hard as it won't be drawing so much power. Edit: But of course the ABM will only go down to 4 ohms so I assume they are both 8s in which case this is a pretty pointless post
4. Yeah, it was a '74 (supposedly) CAR Jazz and the poor guy paid top dollar for it only to find it was a bitsa.
5.
is it normal for there to be two types of speakers in the amp? 2 with square backs & 2 round. I recall something about a seller referred to as '2 gnomes in the attic' where there was a disgruntled buyer
Don't know what became of Mr 2-Gnome-Attic. He was a guy over here who got well and truly ripped off by Tune-O-Matic and was posting spoof ebay listings to try and prick TOM's conscience. A bit like trying to kill an elephant with a pea shooter
6. Javier bought my CS '64. Good communications, was very patient even though it took me a week to actually ship it and a prompt payer.
7. I'll give another vote for Barefaced. They are far superior cabs to the GK MB series. I recently sold my Trace Elliot 1153 1x15", and one prospective buyer was stunned at how much better it sounded than his MB212, and the TE is a 15 year old cab!
8. The Trace 1153 is a 1x15 rated at 200watts and 8 ohms. these are great sounding cabs. It's as good as anything comparable I've ever owned. Excellent condition. It's a few years old but looks like it's had a very easy life Weight is a not too back breaking 49lbs. £100 collected. I work in Guildford so can meet within reason Review by Tombowlus here http://www.talkbass....hootout-358077/ Pics here http://s1140.photobu...llpiece/Orange/
9.
Another Barefaced that needs 1000 watts?
I don't think he said it needs 1000 watts
10.
Well, now my rig looks like this I can add comment. Basically... Jesus! It's very well built, has a very and even uncoloured sounding tone, weighs nothing and allows me to release the full 1000W from the Puma making it shockingly loud. The tweeter adds a subtle sparkle up top which to be honest I'm finding nearly unnecessary as the midrange driver sounds so good. And the midrange driver can also be fully unleashed by another switch adding a lot of aggression to the tone if you want it. It only arrived today, but I'm wondering why on earth I never did this months ago considering the ability to take a trial is always there. Much though I love my Bergs, I can't see them surviving this.
Is that a Big Baby with a tweeter? They look very interesting
11. I have some interest from a gentleman over the channel. He's gone away for the weekend so it's on hold until he gets back and gives me a definite yes
12.
I've always found that courier prices go through the roof if you want to go direct and insure for over £1,000.
That's what I've found with the couple who do offer insurance over £1000. It adds something like £70-80 to the cost.
13. I'm still a bit fuzzy about this. Supposing I ship it with Interparcel/UPS. Once it's in France does it get handed over to an unknown French courier.
14. Thanks for your replies. Looking on the Interparcel website, as far as I can see they only offer insurance up to £1050. As I'm selling this bass for £1400 that's quite a shortfall. Are there any other couriers who will offer the full amount?
15. I'm investigating the possibility of shipping a bass to France. Having a quick skim through the courier threads it seems the most popular is UPS/Interparcel. Will they insure it for the full amount. Would anyone concur with this or suggest another courier. I'm assuming that it'll be fairly straightforward as it's within the EU or am I being too optimistic?
