  1. If it’s HHpickup configuration you’re after, the Gibson EB (2013 & 2014 models) are great alternative and have a similar shape. The added advantage are pull pot which change the humbuckers to single coils.
  2. By the time I get to Phoenix - Glen Campbell
  3. Sadly they don’t appear to do flat wounds ☹️
  4. I don’t want to go to Chelsea - Elvis Costello
  5. Is there a reason you don’t want to switch to short scale. I t would give you much greater choice and be a lot kinder on the hands.
  6. Music Nomad make a range of cleaning and polishing products that are well thought of by luthiers. I think I’ve only ever used the polish and it was excellent. Might be less brutal than wire wool.
  7. Who is Rex Brown anyway! (I know, I looked him up he’s with Pantera, but I thought that was a sandwich shop in California).
  8. These are 34” long scale, but have a really nice neck. The pickups are great too, with lots of options thanks to the pull pots which change them from humbuckers to single coils.
  9. The string spacing on your bass may also have an effect. I found that on narrow spacing on a Hofner I was hitting the wrong string, I’m more used to the 19mm spacing on a P bass. It some people find them far to wide. Definitely try not to pluck to hard, let the volume knob do the hard work.
  10. And that verythin bass in the back round is way up above the trouser belt too. 😃
  11. I think fashion dictates the height in some cases. Back in the 60s high was the thing, all of the Searchers seemed to be trying to strangle themselves 😂
  12. I always thought they were surprisingly heavy for what appears to be a relatively small body & a short neck. How’s yours?
  13. Stuck in the middle with you - Stealers Wheel
  14. Gone gone gone - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
  15. That sounds an interesting project, @6feet7. Are your having to put new pickups in or do the “no poles” type on the thunderbird cope? It’s said the EB has thunderbird pickups but it does have massive visible poles.
  16. The EB you call “Mosrite looking” which I don’t disagree with, was described by the designer as being based on the EB3, doesn’t look much like it to me, but it is a good bass. The next issue, the pointy one is very similar to the Bunny Brunel model they made for a short while before he shifted allegiance to Carvin. Kyle Eastwood still plays them. They just don’t seem to have anything around for long.
