I picked up a Squier PJ in CAR with a Jazz neck from a charity shop selling on eBay for about £100. Needed a good clean up but was very playable. I have sold it on but they are about.
It is a 6 string bass, presumably made to compete with the FenderVI. Never heard of one before and if as it says one of only 17 it is as rare as hens teeth. There are collectors who like oddities and have deep pockets.
Spector Coda is a good alternative in your price range. Has EMG pickups and the Spector Tone Pump which sets it apart a bit.
Sorry I was a bit late to this party didn’t notice you’d bought one,
I know that most pickguards on a precision have a piece of foil stuck to the underside presumably to provide some screening. Back in the late 70s / early 80s Andy Piercy was bassist with After the Fire had a blue precision with a clear pickguard and you could see the rout & wiring. I have a blue precision and fancy a clear pickguard but I am concerned that not having screening may cause problems.
Can anyone give me advice on this?
I had the earlier model with EMGs except mine was a 5 which came in 35” scale. Excellent basses, shame Spector have pulled the plug on manufacturing them.
