  1. Unless you think you have the ideas and the drive to make a silk purse out of it, walk away. Never compromise on the standard of music, you'll just be unhappy and leave, sooner or later.
  2. Why would you not at least try the new one if the old one was not good? You'll know the answer by the end of the night.
  3. Despite being a fan of active setups, generally, I almost always play my L2K passive. Active mode is ridiculoulsy hot. It is many things, but weak in passive mode is not one of them.
  4. By Free Ones Be Driven
  5. All here
  6. Jaco only needed four frontiers
  7. I get a kick out of great songs with the right bassline. That can be Cliff Williams or it can be Tony Choy or anywhere inbetween. They're very different disciplines on the same instrument but neither is superior to the other when they fit the music so well. I dig the rhythm section part of bass playing so when that all locks in I'm happy, it's all good no matter how simple or complex it is.
  8. Having the looooow keys on a piano?
  9. I'd like to get my hands on a Vigier Passion IV, for the craic.
  10. The early Ibanez Soundgears are spot on.
  11. Get a one string tuned to low B with 48 frets. All the notes you need are there, bro.
  12. School band when I was 16. We played From Out of Nowhere by FNM, Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen and Solace of You by Living Colour. I was utterly terrified.
  13. This sounds good. I might sue everyone else on Spotify for my economic harm. “Streaming is a zero-sum game,” they argue. “Every time a song breaks through, it means another artist does not.” As a result, they claim, Drake suffered “economic harm” at Lamar’s expense.
  14. Set what feels good to your hands and sounds good to your ears, not what looks good to your eyes.
  15. Pfffffff! Loose change compared to this one 🤣 https://www.bassic.de/kleinanzeigen/sterling-by-musicman-joe-dart-signature.56486/

  17. I'm not sure Vigier ever used CTS pots, I'd also have expected something circuit board based, as you say. Still, that's a clean installation if it is a replacement.
  18. Active. Start flat and adjust to taste. Lovely.
  19. If you only like one bassline, perhaps bass is not the instrument for you?
  20. The documentary is very entertaining, should you wish to fill in the rest of the gaps.
  21. I'm guessing you don't like the Guardian? That's not what it says at all. "Held By Trees are one of a number of bands offering an alternative to the straightforward hat-doffing of tribute acts; or to venerable groups such as Gong and Yes that continue to use the name when few original members are involved." No revolving doors were harmed in the construction of that sentence 😉
  22. I replaced the crappy aluminium rod in my old SS1 with an iron one they offer in the shop and I reckon my wrist will break before that rod does.
  23. Those frets look quite low, perhaps installing something like 6105 wire would bring things up a smidge? I would heartily recommend not excavating some of that blue section until you've exhausted all other options.
  24. Short answer: It's more about having the right strings than a longer scale bass. 34" is fine. Long answers in here https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/462156-death-core-bass-in-f/#comment-4698604 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/473406-longer-neck-for-fender-p-bass/page/2/#comment-5369697 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/461893-a-standard-adgcf/#comment-4694130
