Wow, just stumbled on him for the first time! I think he is absolute class and I love the 'alter ego' thing. This is the first video that YouTube served up and what a performance... https://youtu.be/eZRzsrR44Ag?si=wlalIODQd2fD4duL

So if your dad does dodgy stuff you aren't allowed to get on and get recognition for your own achievements? 🤔 Like @godathunder my daughter also likes him and when I took her to see him a couple of years ago I was really impressed. He is a proper old school rock performer and the packed crowd lapped him up. I say fair play to him for recognising how massively expensive gigs/festivals have become and doing something practical about it.

This is an excellent video on so many levels. It is such a pleasure to listen to Freddie play and to talk about stuff. The interviewer asks such good questions as well and seems to know exactly what the nerds among us want to know! Thanks for posting 👍

Wholeheartedly agree with you. Really great interview and Ian really manages to get loads from Tim. In the past I tended to find Ian a bit annoying but I now think I think that is due to his vids with Scott Devine - who I happen to like very much as a person and a teacher. Individually really great presenters, teachers and interviewers but together they are destabilised and are a bit much for me. I think Ian is a class act though, particularly after watching the above video.

Personally I think both pickups on full, tone wide open should get a pretty good classic J clank. Give it a nice new set of round wound strings and a basic set up and you'll be laughing. Not sure what the electrics are on these particular basses but judging by the Hipshot tuning pegs these are likely really decent instruments.

Sold a Miles Copeland book to @moley6knipe aka Colin. Very quick and easy process from start to finish. Another great basschatter!

Lovely quick, effortless sale of my DJ controller to Ian @Bunion. Great chat, comms and overall great BC'er to do business with 👍

Can't explain why I'm enjoying reading these posts from a fellow bassist enjoying life with his P bass but I am 😁

I know I am probably out of my mind even considering this but is it possible that one-time Bowie bassman (according to Wikipedia 🤔) Richard Fairbrass, better known as one half of Right Said Fred, has placed a subtle tribute to Mr P within their 1991 hit 'I'm Too Sexy"? Not only does Sexy include a pretty banging bass line and a cool little slap break at 2m11s, the motif at 1m11s sounds remarkably like Jaco's melody in Slang at 2m19s doesn't it? Is it inconcievable that I'm Too Sexy is in part a tribute to one of the legends of the bass guitar world? P.s. my tongue is slightly in cheek but give them a listen 🙂 Have a listen... Slang (live) 2m19s in... I'm Too Sexy 1m11s in...
