  1. Looks fantastic, wishing you massive success 👍👍👍
  2. The longer time goes by these 700 series Yamahas are becoming classics. Great great price here.
  3. Well, I pulled the trigger on one of these and it arrived yesterday. Love it and it fits the Jabba perfectly. You can actually adjust it to accommodate an even longer bass if you want. Really well made and chunky. That accessory bag is really useful. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the velvet lining. It looks sexy but I just cannot bear the stuff for some reason. Highly recommended folks 👌
  4. Very good condition but with a few very small scuffs, nothing significant enough to be noticeable to the touch. Fits Jazz/P bass perfectly but unfortunately not quite big enough for my Mayones which has a slightly longer scale length. £75 collected from Erdington, north Birmingham Or £85 posted to UK address. No trades thanks you. My feedback is available here... Recently bought from this forum, see original ad below:
  5. I'm not at home ATM but according to the 'net the 34.25" scale version is 117cm total length.
  6. I fancy one of these, does anyone know if it has sufficient internal length to fit my Mayones Jabba? It has a slightly longer scale length than 34 inches and doesn't quite fit in my Contego gig bag.

    Fame JB4.

These look fab. Built by Mayones though...really?
  8. Thanks for pointing this out. Thread now torched.
  9. 3rd thread about Rush's new drummer. Don't waste your time, read the others...
  10. This is an important aspect of band performance. Personally I dislike the gaps between songs, particularly during the second set when punters are on the dancefloor. They don't want the music to keep stopping every 3 minutes or so. But effective banter between the front person and the audience/ rest of the band can make the difference between a half decent gig and a memorable one. A live band is a 'show' first and foremost. A previous band I was a member of was mediocre but adequate technically, however the actual 'show' they put on was brilliant because of the p*ss taking between the guitarist and other members, and the laughs from the crowd. My wife has not forgiven me for leaving that band for other more musically satisfying projects 😂
  11. I owned a US LB100 for a while and it was a quality product in every sense. The problem with G&L is that they are mainly seen as the Volvo of the bass world (not sure about in the guitar world). We expect rock solid and high quality engineered parts. But they are just not very cool. That is a shame because I think if some well known players played them that could change. I've always wanted to try a JB (the p bass with jazz pickups) and the SB1. Let's hope G&L gets snapped up and they get a bit of a makeover. I'm just thinking of their employees who are probably really worried about their future right now.
  12. Excellent price!
  13. Recently bought a set of strings from @Sweeneythebass Price, comms and P&P all good. Very happy 🙂
  14. Just sold Kert an amp. Great comms, no hassle, would happily do business again. Great chat about bass gear too 🙂
  15. Damn shame they didn't include a Jazz.
  16. It was not Ray Thistlethwait but the guy was similarly breathtaking. I feel a bit harsh by not being able to at least share his name. I'm sure someone can find out... I saw Thundercat last year in Wolverhampton and he was fabulous also.
  17. Hi all, I've got a super pair of custom made ACS ear plugs. They work very well but the day after wearing them my right ear hurts like hell. The pain subsides over time and by the day after that it feels normal again. Anyone else experienced this problem? Could the pain be caused by me not inserting/removing them carefully enough? Any thoughts welcome. I hope I can continue using them as they are 1000% better than any other regular musicians ear plugs I've tried over the years.
  18. I was also slightly concerned about this. It was louis and gienevive plus Sam on bass, a keys player and a guitarist. When I saw Tower of Power in Brum a few years ago I was doubly disappointed to find (in my complete ignorance) that not only was Rocco deceased but his replacement was also absent due to a medical indent so in the end there was no bass player on stage at all.
  19. First time I've managed to see them live after many years of enthusiastically following them and Louis Cole. I wasn't disappointed! Brilliant musicians, all of them, exhillerating performance too, crowd were bouncing by the end. Sam Wilkes was a big fat monster on bass. Had to resist the urge to keep videoing bits on my phone (one of my pet hates at gigs) but it was such a great show. I don't know why but I felt the urge to take a pic of Sam's bass at the end of the show, perhaps someone out there would be interested 😂
  20. Bought a cable from John. Quick service, high quality product. What's not to like? Buy with confidence 👍
  21. The true test of a basschatter is how they deal with unforseen technical issues which are out of their control. Jono scores top marks in this regard in how he dealt with an issue relating to an amp I bought from him. He is a true gent and I will not hesitate to do business again. Buy with confidence 👍
  22. I recently bought a bass stand from Ed. I was very pleased with the whole experience- great comms, arrived in the post quickly, and it was extremely well packed. I would do business with Ed again without hesitation.
  23. Just bought a cab from Peter. Lovely chap, transaction was perfectly straight forward and I am very happy. I would not hesitate to do business with Peter again.
  24. +1 from me. Exchanges was THE music shop of my youth. I bought/PX'd more gear than I care to remember. I even did my school work experience here which consisted of messing around with bass gear and vacuuming. A guy called Woz ran the bass department. Amazing player. Wonder where he is now? Incredible to think we also had the Birmingham Bass Centre just around the corner from Exchanges as well. Great times. We're lucky to have Fairdeal in Brum which has improved its bass great offering in a big way over the last few years and deserves to be supported lest it goes the same way as PMT...
