No, only to the one(s ?) knowing that the slices of wood were intended for marquetry.

The electronics nerdery is very interesting, and everything on this bass build is simply amazing. Can't wait to see and hear the final result. And I'm getting more addicted each time...

The VAT has been paid outside the U.K., at least once, but not in the U.K., so HMRC needs to get it back, even if in this particular case there is absolutely no added value, but that's the way it works, hélas.

Urm, urm, why not be proactive and simply put a note in your advert when you're selling something saying you're outiside U.K. or simply check if this item you must have is in the U.K. or elsewhere. If it's elsewhere, you'll have to pay the VAT, the incoming taxes and the adminstrative fee. There is no need for such a caution, just a bit of common sense. That said, a lot of private people are just not selling anymore to the U.K.

Sting has gone to the dark side of music a long time ago. -
1 x 15 & 2 x 10 in a stack, will there be issues?
Hellzero replied to Gray C's topic in Amps and Cabs
This was the typical 90's stack, so I don't see why there should be a problem as millions of bassists have done it for years. Go on mate. -

Yes, on the back of it, there's more space. 😎 -

Certainly most of Mark King own compositions like the famous and a pleasure to play "Dune Tune" or "43" and a few others. -
I don't think that it's what really happened. In fact as he bought through a U.K. VAT registered society (shop if you prefer), it was sold without the U.K. VAT and he just paid the French VAT, which means no difference for him.

I'm totally addicted to this thread ! 😊

Maybe you should put another one under the strap, just in case. 🤣

Damn, she is wearing a hat and she can really sing. Is it a sexual offence ?

Indeed Douglas, but some people don't know they have to click the link. That said, put your smartphone horizontally and you'll get a lot more informations. 😉

Not at all, this strings spacing thing for pickups is just pure marketing. If the sensing area is large enough (which is the case here) all strings will be covered. You have to remind the way a pickup works. The simplest I can do is this : when the metallic string is moving it perturbs the magnetic field generating an induced current on the output. The pole pieces don't need to be aligned with the strings perfectly. Think blades instead of pole pieces and you'll get it.

Big Ol' String Shootout. Comparison video.
Hellzero replied to CalDeep's topic in Accessories and Misc
I was about to ask you what was the felt tension of the different strings, but you beat me on it. That said, it is really helpful for someone with a well trained and still working ear. Again, I don't think many musicians test their ears each and every year. I must be an isolated case. 😉 -

And there it happened very obviously : the sound is definitely in the fingers. The difference between the warmest and the brightest strings is so tiny that I don't think anybody will notice the slightly more opened top end and overall clarity of the brightest ones compared to the warmest ones. Thanks for this, you have just prooven what I claim for decades. 😉 -
Terrific job ! 👍 I often use cyano activator when I need the glued items to be as stiff as possible. The CA glue is then as hard as rock with this and cure in no time.

Don't you have a simple needle or triangular file, it will work with some patience. You can also take the G file, put some sanding paper "around" and file the D string slot and so on. You can even use this old trick with a string a bit smaller "wrapped" in sanding paper to file any slot. Or you can buy the real deal. They are expensive, but worth every penny. These Ibanez nut files are excellent : https://m.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_4449eb6x_nut_file_set.htm?o=3&search=1611753350 And don't forget to clean your files very often.

Indeed Dave. Too many people are playing (them) without any comprehension or passion. You've to understand what you play. It may take some time, but it's worth every minute or even year sometimes.
-
Listened to it without the sound, it's highly watchable. Too bad I couldn't take my eyes off the high heel shoes. I said look me in the eyes... I said the eyes.

You can have them made to your exact specifications by Christoph Dolph, the man behind BassCulture. It's in Germany, he is a very nice chap to deal with and VAT registered. https://www.bassculture.de/
