Christophe LEDUC is making what he's calling The Smart Output Jacks and is exactly what you need (works with active or passive circuitry) : http://www.leduc.fr/index.php/autres/electroniques/auto-stereo
Here's the Blue Book official quote with the available colours, so try to figure out which colour it is if it's still the original one, but Fiesta Red or Dakota Red were not proposed...
Here is the official Fender colour chart from the 60's. You can see that according to the photos it could be Dakota Red or Fiesta Red... To me, it's Fiesta Red, because there are shades of orange in the colour, but I would need to see it in the flesh to be sure.
The colour could be a Dakota Red or a Fiesta Red, but it's really hard to figure out what colour it is based only on badly balanced photos... The rest has already been said.
Two other issues are poorly designed PWM power supplies plugged to the same ... (multi)plug and LED lights in the room. LED lights mains pollution is just awesome, people don't believe it until they come across a problem like yours...
I had a red one bought brand new as a demo bass in a shop in Trier. I was my office bass back in the day. Good bass, but poor pickup.
@Happy Jack still owns one.
It's already written everywhere here : my Leduc basses and my Ibanez AFR A104F are keepers simply because these are, to me, the best basses ever on all points, but especially on sound, craftsmanship and ergonomics.
Check my endless gear list here if you have time to loose :
I think I'll call you Mad Professor for now on @mhoss32 ! This project is a pure to delight to follow and you have really great ideas. Can't wait for the next episode. Fantastic craftsmanship !
The Warwick Red-Labels are, to me, a huge waist of money. You really get what you pay for, so nothing good. Just buy the usual suspects, called D'addario nickel (EXL) or steel (EPS) : no surprise here, just excellent strings (but not my favourite ones) for a very decent amount of money (between £25 and £29).
Urm, urm, as a regular long scale (34 inches) sixer player for more than 3 decades, I think I've NEVER come across an unwound high C (most of them are 0.028 to 0.035) in the sets sold by all the usual makers.
Now, you're maybe talking about a Bass VI which is a short scale tuned like a guitar an octave lower and is not the same...
As I had a few 7-stringers tuned B to F and also wanted a wound high F, here are the only two sets available by resellers. The Newtone strings are also an option.
This Dean Markley SR 2000 set is fully wound : https://m.thomann.de/gb/dean_markley_2698_7string.htm
This Pyramid SSL 7 set is fully wound :https://m.thomann.de/gb/pyramid_7_string_bass_set_sssl_022_128.htm
That said there are these two sets available in the ads here, at a bargain price :
Totally right, each time I see some horrid basses, meaning almost all those old school thingies, I'm just feeling 🤢🤮 , but just don't make any comment. The opposite is, hélas, absolutely not true. A bit sad.
