2. Chinese rip-offs are everywhere in my industry too. There are a couple of very big and very popular professional moving light manufacturers in the world and their most popular products have famously been dissected screw by screw and copied. Even their names were similar (the spelling was a couple of letters different for each product). Of course the quality was barely 10% of the original and were horrible and simply didn't work. The manufacturers can't do anything about it, but the people who purchase said items can, if you buy it, all you're doing it fuelling that industry and filling the marketplace with shoddy equipment which one day we'll encounter and suffer by using it. Recently there was an issue where a moving light caught fire in the scoreboard above a baskeball court during a game. The game had to be stopped and the rig dropped in so it could be extinguished, on TV. One quick look at the footage makes it look like it's an original item, but on closer inspection it's clear to see that's it's copy / forgery / direct rip off and probably why it caught fire in the first place. This surely caused a headache for the manufacturer of the original lights as it would appear to be unwanted negative publicity for them when it's not actually their product. I know it's changing the subject slightly (but that's i all i know a lot about!) but it's in the similar vein, and a continuous soruce of annoyance to all involved.
 3. Once again i was working on this gig, and my ears certainly pricked up during Robbie's soundcheck when said bass player was using all kinds of squelchy effects and noises during the songs, which although out of place for the songs sounded pretty cool! ha ha The guy who was playing the warwick for the brass band was playing through a tiny little cab ( TC electronics 2 x 10 i think) but i was gobsmacked at the noise that was coming out of it. I couldn't believe that such a full sound, with so much bottom end, was coming out of it. Very impressed. Right, now, i'm off to Plasa today. Happy days.
 4.
Were thinking of holding it in an ampeg cab. Should be plenty of room!
5. "Another one bites the dust" and a 12 bar blues, with my Sunn Mustang bass, through a peavey microbass amp cranked up full at a school concert. I'd only been playing a few months, I was 15, and it was in '92. I'm still in a band with the guitarist, but he's now a drummer, wise move.
 6.
Oh there's others on why a 4x10 cabinet is also a bad design, but I'll let you go look for that one!
Cool, cheers, something to do when i next get in from the pub!
 7.
I'm guessing you're as drunk as I am and looking to start another 'Valve amps etc etc etc ' type thread. I'll meet you on the other side - OK the drunk thread - I'm in the process of resurrecting it as we speak
Ha ha! Nail - on - head!
 8. I've a scan of the whole song tab & notation if you want it. PM me if you do.
 9. http://wiki.basschat.co.uk/info:amps:building_a_rig "mixing cabs! Don't" What does that mean? Using different manufacturer's cabs in the same rig?
 10.
Somebody must have invented touch-sensitive LED's, ie, they light up when pressed. They'd be invaluable for tutors. IMO, LEDs on the side are a good idea. On the front, they're just another way of adding virtual inches to your manhood; buy a guitar whilst you're at it.
11.
Just finished a gig and it was soooo good Had my rh450 going into a ul210 with my siggery feeding it and omg what a tone!! It's my first gig with this set up and I has a bit hesitant about missing my bergantino but no!! Absolutely love this set up!! All this nonsense about valve amps is rubbish, the rh450 tops it!! That is all
I was just about to ask what the rh450 and ul210 was, then i read your sig... D'oh! Glad you had a good night. What was the gig?
 12.
i use a 700rbII through an aguilar DB115. i used to use a rbx 410 which was quite good. i turned to a 15 to try and get more of a vintage tone. Which is awesome but when jamming it can be hard to hear everything that i play. ive started to take the rear casters of the cab now so it angles up and its easier to hear.
That's such a simple yet effective idea, i'd not thought of that!
 13. I've got the GK 1001RB going through my ex-Mark King Ashdown Bentley 4x10" cab. It's very loud and has loads of headroom, but i could do with a little more bottom end. I did have and Aguilar DB115 and 210 cabs which sounded great, but i had to flog them earlier this year to help pay for my wedding!!! I'm looking at getting barefaced gear for my cabs, but i'm not sure what i want yet. I've just realised i've got no pics of my cab, but will post if anyone desires.
 14. Maybe it should be in the wiki! - How the words burp, growl, woolly, clunky, oomph, beefy etc compare to sounds. I've read reviews about equipment which have used words to describe sounds, but it's hard to try and work out what those sounds the reviewer actually means! Is "growl" limited to just the sounds jazz basses are capable of making or can it be applied to anything that sounds like that characteristic feature of a jazz bass with both pups on full?
 15.
I think SVTs are gonna get mentioned a lot now! ha ha ha!! made me lol that did!
Am i missing something or is it an in-joke?
 16.
Ah right fair enough. Doodstock? I like it!
Yup! Seconded!
 17. I'll come if I can / I'm around and Ipswich is great for me. - I can stay at my mum's! Nodge is just that bit too far out for me.
 18.
Don't you have a monitor too? If not, why not? They're really a must if playing with an e-kit, but then I think they're a must anyway!
I was only depping for someone and they "don't usually need them"..... I certainly know now that you do..
 19.
Delightfully simple bassline, but sounds great.
Ha! Even the random / pointless little snippet of save a prayer at the start has a great bassline too. This thread could run and run.
 20. Delightfully simple bassline, but sounds great.
 21.

Great song / bassline too. I love the sound of the bass on that song. Even the Emma Bunton version managed to sound good!!
 22.
i'd have one of these Atelkof Stage Deluxe / Lite Jazz/Precision/Stingray IN 1 BASS!!!! mint
Has anyone here played one of these? It looks like a bit of a car crash?!
 23. For me it's a stingray 5 string. I always wanted one, when i got one i loved it and it's simply the best thing i've ever owned. I don't want to play devil's advocate but for me it IS the best. I love it's feel, sound, look and i don't want or need another sound. Even if i did have an uber-bass worth thousands which is the best in the world, it'd be wasted on me as i'm not the best in the world. (i'd dread the tuts and skyward rolling eyes of people / other bassists would think i wasn't worthy of such a beast).
 24.
Isn't that the mall from the original George Romero "Dawn of the Dead"? The escalators and fountain look familiar.
Ah, god bless the internet. Dawn of the dead was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroeville_Mall Free Radicals was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staten_Island_Mall
