1. I've done a couple of gigs recently where the drummer used an electric kit. It did keep the on stage volume down, and also the out-front volume was at a level where the punters didn't leave with bleeding ears. However both times, because of the set-up the drum sound was only coming out of the drummer's monitor (which was to his right and pointing at him and i was playing on stage right) and out front, i couldn't hear him, which meant i spent the entire gig with my head pretty much bent over his kit so i could hear him play through his monitor. To try to get over this he turned up, which meant he was louder, therefore everyone else turned up.... I much prefer playing with a drummer with a "proper" kit.
 2.
Jimmy Nail's Ain't No Doubt has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.. Great line from Guy Pratt....
Ah-ha! Yes! I'd not heard that since it came out, and it was on some obscure radio station yesterday and my ears certainly pricked up when heard it, and now i've just read this. Funny how you don't think of something for years then it crops up a few times.
 3. I always liked the only song the free radicals did. Nice fun song, with a surprisingly busy bassline.
 4.
Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekpM8eD3LM4&feature=av2n Lovely bottom end action, in both senses.
To quote Quagmire 'Giggety giggety giggety... Allllllright!
 5.
Top stuff IMO. Its a great album for basslines. Lots of groove.
Ah, i got that album when it came out, and saw her at V when she played there. She did a bunch of good songs. Good call.
 6. I did catch some of QOTSA, i didn't know they were playing so i was chuffed to be able to catch (some of) their set. Very cool.
 7. Mumford & sons were incredible. It's not really my cup of tea, but the crowd was heaving, and they were singing like i've never heard a crowd sing before. The singer was visibly gobsmacked and did a good job of actually getting his words out to their biggest song (not sure what it's called). All in all a nice sunny day festival set. Pendulum were loud.
 8. My lovely stingray 5 Fender Jazz Std Dean semi acoustic Aria sinsonido (which lives in my toolbox for when I'm on tour) No name uber-cheap precision copy which lives at my mum's!
 9.
Done that trip 7 times...... Only did it for the 4 days on Acsension Islands. Garry
Coincidentally - the same amount of times as me! Last time i went was last year, the stop-off at Ascension is only for refueling etc now, it's barely a 90 min stay.
 10.
Thanks Mark, all received, looks good!
No worries, pleasure as always.
 11. I've a scan of a transcription of it in G, detuned 1/2 step. P.m. me if you'd like it. Also it was in a magazine many years ago (1st two verses & chorus only) in F#, i think i've a copy of that kicking around somewhere too,
 12.
On top of a mountain called Mount Kent in the Falkland Islands. You had to get up there by helicoptor.. The gig was in side a load of giant containers welded together to make some kind of accomadation. In fact the gig was at three different mountains and they all look the same [ all welded together] Garry
I've done that gig too! & Alice, & Byron.
 13. I wasn't playing on it, but i recently lit Professor Green in a random little shack, in a travellers' site under the westway for a showcase / album launch. We had extra guys turn up afterwards to ensure the gear got on the van quickly after the gig...
 14. Drums: John Bonham Guitar: Nuno Guitar: Dimebag Bass: Stu Hamm Vox: Freddie Interesting mix!!!
 15. Years ago i turned to face the drummer to give each other the eye / nod on a big beat, he hit the crash, which bounced off the headstock of my bass then cut my lip as i was turning round (on a v. small stage), i still can't work out quite how that happened, but fortunately it was at the end of the last song.
 16. I love it, it's how i pay the rent! However, i do wish i was playing though.
 17.
it just makes me think of this
I thought we were going to have yet another thread about that video again too!
 18.
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans......thats good...damn good!....Think i'll just go and turn my basses into coffee tables :-(
that made me laugh, i think i'm going to use that exclamation in future! Nice site too
 19.
Lol! Were you the guy slumped in his (wicker?) chair with a headset on? I thought "check that guy out.... how bored does he look!" I'll be backstage/stage side on Sunday late afternoon/evening for Iron Maiden so may see you there...
Ha ha,yeah that was me!! It takes a lot to get me excited at work nowadays - I'm quite a cynical chap really. I'd actually just finish my tax return, I'd been quietly working on it all weekend because I'd finished reading my book..
 20.
Balls, I missed you again! I was back & forth to the backstage there all weekend. Watched Down from sidestage too.... NICE Spectors Rex had!
If you were stage right you'd have been standing next to me, i was the only one sitting in a chair, on the on-stage side of the barrier. I'm doing sonisphere this weekend if that's any help?!! I missed the yodel / flute rock of Focus at High Voltage though.
 21.
Checked the battery clip? I know you're a sparks and all but they go a bit awol sometimes when they get old... if your battery is moving about it could disconnect momentarily.
Cool, will do. It's only happened a handful of times so i've not gone too deep and gynecological about it yet, when it does stop and then kick in again there is a chunky tha-doomp, which would imply something along the lines of power issues. Cheers, (I'll shoot off now, before i acciddently hijack this thread...).
 22.
Great band! Looking forward to seeing them at the High Voltage Festival in a few weeks time!
Cool, i'm working on that. I'm on the Metal hammer stage (not playing..)... It's nice to be on a festival where i'm not up to my knees in mud for a change - however the locals that keep breaking into the site, raiding the busses and nicking or trashing everything in sight aren't that nice.
 23.
Surely, what goes on tour stays on tour???? You never know who could be reading this!
These days it seems to be "what goes on tour, stays on facebook"...
