How do you know her mate? Cheers, N
I have seen her a few times with The Imagined Village & I love sitar playing B

 3.
Quotes like this really piss me off. "£27 to watch Marcus Miller going slap slap slap slap slap ? No ta.......... " What do these people base their opinions on? A couple of YouTube vids? Something they heard in the pub?
+1000 CBA to read whole thread B
 4.
One of each.
+ 1 Just get a six string...

 6.
Yes. Amazon, Play, CDWow etc etc... BUT, you have to buy CDs, not downloaded stuff... Just rip them into your preferred format and you can use them anywhere. How much is a downloaded track these days? Multiply that figure by the number of tracks on the CD and I think you'll find the CD is often better value, especially when you consider that you are getting full 16-bit/44kHz.
+ 1000 Until streaming formats become ubiquitous you are in Phillips 2000 (not even Beatmax territory) and could be investing in something that will be useless very quickly. Brendan
 7.
Where are you based?
This question was not answered
 8.
Thanks for posting the video (one of my favourites). If you look at my post above, you'll see I mentioned both the Series II and the Jaydee Jazz basses above. That Series II sounds great.
Sorry Chris I didn't see you had already mentioned the JD's That my bass article is great I would love to try that Calibas 6 never mind the "Jaco"! Brendan
 9. It's a wonder no one else has commented yet. But Jaco had a JayDee deal just before his demise. (He played a Supernatural & Jazz type copy). There is one of the jazz types in the JayDee porn thread somewhere. B
 10. Wal or Alembic? ---------- JayDee HTH Brendan
 11. Fretless with pick from the great man from Spain B
 12.
Isn't this fretless playing by Barry Adamson? If not, sure sounds like it!
I think you will find it is just "The Great" Barry Adamson (check out Second Hand Daylight album!) Brendan
 13.
Didn't Barry Adamson (Magazine, The Bad Seeds) and David Jay (Bauhaus) both play fretless basses with picks?
Barry doesn't play fretless (just nice use of effects) But Davy Jay yes used a pick on his Fless a lot. Some of Carles Benevent's stuff is on fretless & he uses a pick. Rule 1 --- There are no rules!!! B
 14.
I wanna get my mits on some of that HP Guinness sauce!
It's absolutely gorgeous & great to add to cooking (chilli, stews, etc.) Bren
 15. What drum machine can you recommend for home studio/song writing & possibly small live work? I've got a DR-3 and although the sound are good it is driving me nuts -- You can't switch off the programmed bass unless you save a preset then edit it. A separate volume control for the accompaniment would make this a better machine for me. Is the DR-808 (or whatever new version is called) as annoying? So any cool drum machine with a good cosmopolitan range of patterns/presets up to £500 but cheaper the better. Brendan
 16.
Both - whatever gives the right sound and feel for the song. Also while I have a favourite that I use most of the time, in the studio I'll use different picks for different sounds. To me it's no different to which finger you are going to use or if you are going to alternate fingers when playing finger style. Why limit yourself?
+ 1000 P.S BigRedX have you tried the timber tones picks in different woods? (some good sounds & vibes) B
 17. Actually with all that gaffa tape on his thumb you could say Mark King is mostly playing with a pick (Lights blue touch paper -- Runs away & hides)
 18.
ha there is some knowledge on this dog.....i stand corrected my friend.. i go listen..
-- We are all here to learn
 19.
i have never seen a funk player play with a pick,
You maybe didn't look too far --- Anthony Jackson on O'Jays Love of Money is just one example -- Go study... B
 20.
6ohms!!! :-S
Yes 3 series 4 ohm (12) in parallel with 3 others = 6 B

 22.
richer than us all put together and multiplied by 1000. Shagged more hot women than any of us thought existed. Fellow bass player. Comes across as a decent guy. All the rest is petty jealousy. (No big U2 fan BTW)
+1000
 23.
Part 1 of 8
Thanks for that fantastic -- that room full of tapes WOW, I wonder if he would employ me for a couple of years to convert them all to digital??!! Brendan
 24.
I think that I must move in completely different musical circles to some people here! I have never gone to a gig on public transport and can’t imagine getting away with turning up at a show without a rig. I certainly wouldn’t trust most pub’s PAs to be responsible for 100% of my out front sound and to be honest, it is usually much better in small venues to have most of your sound come from your backline and let the PA take care of the vocals, drums & keys, etc (especially for rock bands with reasonably loud drummers)! Even if you are lucky enough to find yourself working on a stage in a big room with a good PA and a half decent sound engineer, it doesn’t hurt to have a backline to give him an idea of what the band should sound like and therefore a reference of what you want him to reproduce out front….!
You are not alone Pete BTW {thread drift} where did you get that Jimi Hendrix strap??! Brendan
 25.
Gaye Advert
+1 No Video it wasn't invented!! LOL B
