1. His album "On the corner" is mainly Smith 6 string with some Yamaha 5 string & Acoustic I guess the average tone of later stuff is a bi-product of going for the endorsement deals? As Mike says Remembrance is a good album & the Yam sound great on that. B
2.
As its the last song of the night build up your drunkenness ( bottle of Jack onstage )so that by the time you play it you wont feel anything anyway. Or a bit of foam under strings to mute - was OK for Jamerson. Bob
LOL at thumperbob uses Jack & Jamerson{s} to get him through a gig
3. HTH B (PS I am actually {semi} serious -- try it!)
4. I've got the Eden 6x10 & it is great -- Sorry I don't want to swap, but if you get chance to try one do -- Pity you don't live closer we could compare the two I bet they are both fantastic Brendan

7.
Cor blimey, talk about a rubbish website. Granted it is functional in terms of design, but if you've got no content for the love of god don't include the hyperlinks (or suggestions of hyperlinks) that go to blank pages, especially not when you're just starting up a company. Front page, mission statement and maybe a news feed. That's it.
To be fair the page I linked to is entered by the back door -- This is the official page http://www.dnaamps.com/ Edit to say WOT bet me to it
8. Good News For anyone who loved the original (Pre US Music) Eden equipment http://www.dnaamps.com/home/ B Edit to say site not up & running yet (says 13 Jan)
9. Mark King is left handed but plays right handed (The only {playing} thing I've got in common with him LOL) http://status-graphite.com/status/stock/2008/mark/0956.jpg http://status-graphite.com/status/stock/2008/mark/0960.jpg B

15. "I believe in Farther christmas" -- Greg Lake --- Musical inspiration by Prokofiev & Sinfeild's lyrics are as poignant today as they ever were. Lennon's "merry xmas (war is over)" does the job also. Brendan
16. Just watched it on iplayer I thought it was great --- Now gassing for a 12 string (1 course) bass!! Brendan
17. Has anyone tried or got the line 6 JM4? it seems to have some good features & extras and it has recently come down to the price of the Boss & Digitech --- Not sure of the quality & sound though. Brendan
18. It is a great book. I am one of those who have lost the cassettes over the years. So I will probably get the new version when the misses isn't looking Brendan
19.
any strings over 15 quid, a complete con * Ampeg bass gear (three tone settings rock, rock and sh*te) * gay basses like jaydee, status wal ect * most high end bass cabs, you can have one built just as good for less than half the price * Six string basses, for god sake get a guitar * plectrum bass playing, clunk click clunk * Rickenbackers, the worst sounding basses ever invented
I have a couple of six string stati, my life partner is a Jaydee (see what I did there!), I love Rickenbackers & really enjoy (when appropriate) playing with a pick. I don't suppose we will be going on a date! But can you just help me lift my Bergantino into the car? B
20. QUOTE (Sibob @ Oct 28 2009, 02:37 PM) Crikey, it's Status exodus month Si
Not at my house, it ain't!
Yeah + 1 to that --- And as someone else said please buy this as it is way too tempting!!! B
21.
I come from the age of vinyl, like the author of that article -- when you went into town on Saturday afternoon with your few quid and scoured the record shops, coming home with 2,3, maybe 4 carefully selected albums. You put on an album, you listened to the whole thing, all the way through, carefully. Listened again. And again, if it really grabbed you. And again, if it was an instant classic. Back then I think I probably knew every lyric to every song on every album I owned, because music was very definitely finite and so we listened more carefully. Perhaps we even treasured it more?
+1 to that -- And you got a 12" piece of art to go with it... ... and the girl behind the counter at RE-cords in Burton-on-Trent was gorgeous... Yeah I'm old too! Brendan
22.
It is on spotify though http://open.spotify.com/track/4MmaH0gfufdTwY8Lx2jF3b And wonderful it is too!
£9.99 a month they have got to be kidding!! Spend 79p on iTunes B
23.
I agree, I loved his more melodic stuff, in fact I'm inclined to download an album now to listen to while I get some Uni work done today. My ex ended up with the vinyl, many moons ago. So what should it be? Running in the Family? In pursuit of Accidents? You could influence my decision here guys
The self titled Level 42 album (that spurred this thread) is a must for any music collection (even for those that "don't like Level 42"!) cool bass, throbbing Moog it's like Return to Forever with songs! Brendan
24. I agree with all of the above (and I won't tell you how we used to power up domestic equipment that didn't have a lead!!!) apart from the get it replaced bit. I would decommission the unit (it is not as if it's an old AC30 or Marshall). If it's been standing in a cupboard you don't need it and H&H weren't "cool" even when the Floyd used them at Pompeii ! Bin it save yourself the grief! B
25. Thanks Pete for rediscovering this gem. I have coped my 79p & downloaded it from iTunes. The bass line has got to be a synth there is an extended chord & glissando near the end that must be keyboard. As someone said earlier Stevie Wonder was using synths in early 1970 here is a youtube clip of Stevie & TONTO (Clicky) --- Hippies gone Funky!!! Now I got to get me one of them!!! Brendan
