3.
Hi, dont know if anyones interested in this topic,
It's what we're here for! I know there's a lot of people like me, who follow a lot of build threads, but don't necessarily post in them. Doesn't mean we're not interested!
 4. Luton Aid - Saturday 26th July. All day charity event at the University SU. We were the first band on at 2pm so I was expecting to be playing to the bar staff and the next band, but we actually had a fair sized audience. Only 30 mins, but it went so fast. One major mistake by the drummer - which we managed to cover and plough on, and one song played mainly as an instrumental as the vocalist couldn't hear anything and didn't know where he was, otherwise good gig and we went down quite well. I went through a mates Marshall stack. Sounded pants on stage, but FOH sounded great. Spent the rest of the day watching the rest of the bands and drinking student priced beer
 5.
I thought Ibanez really cracked down on people duplicating the monkey grip...
Can they do that, it's just a hole in the wood?
 6.
Hey MacDaddy, you could have the ramp kinda scalloped in where you needed to get your fingers in for popping. So the wood would still be there, albeit thinner, kinda like the cut down on my fingerboard, the other way round, see here >> If you did it that way, it'd still be a continuous piece of wood to the untrained eye... I agree with lwtait though, given where that precision pickup is sketched you ain't gonna have much room anyway. Hope this helps dude, when I get home, I can do you a proper drawing if it'll help to explain my idea a little clearer. Cheers, Eude
I see what you mean, good idea, I'll have a word with Jon. I think the the pup sketch is just there for a guide, I don't think that's it's final resting place.
 7. Hi I need a bit of advice. The original plan, was to have an all in one pup cover/ramp/thumb rest running from the bridge to the neck. Having played a few basses with ramps, I'm thinking slapping may be compromised? Is this the case, or will it just mean an adjustment of technique? Otherwise it will mean having to reshape the pup cover/ramp/thumb rest by the neck, which may destroy the aesthetic
 8.
on the back of the head i read: maximum load 4o what does it mean?!?
sure about that? The 8T is 16ohms? It runs down to 2ohms and puts out 720w It refers to impedance. Do a search, there have been threads where people have explained it better than I can.
 9.
http://www.recordoftheday.com/cgi-bin/rotd...37&expand=1 sounds like a deal is imminent.
Peter Jones did say on the show 'I know people at Sony, I'm not saying that's where I'll take you...' Hamfatter. I've heard the name before, were they one of the bands that didn't get very far on that Battle of the Bands show Jo Wiley, and the bassist from Blur did?
 10. IIRC it was meant to be future proofed, but Yamaha haven't given it the support needed since it was launched. So not many updates or new software. There's a thread with more advice somewhere...
 11.
hi. i'm thinking to change my markbass little mark 1 for something of superior class. maybe i have the possibility to sell tomorrow my little mark and bye the m500 pjb at the same price. what do you suggest? any feedback?
I had the Dalek, whick was the full PJB stack with the M500 head. In a word awesome. It's MOSFETs but IMO it totally outgunned Ampegs (I have owned Ampegs). It's all there, you need to spend some time with it then you'll find your ideal sound. Then after you've spent more time with it, you'll find your ideal sound again! It's all there the tonal options are immense. It's built like a tank (some of the components are military spec) and quite weighty because of it. There are people of this forum who's experience of PJB hasn't been good, but any email I sent was replied to either by Phil or one of the team usually the next day. I only got rid, because the stack wouldn't fit into my new car. Try it, and AB it with another amp, you'll hear the difference.
 12.
Mint condition Foot-Spa - once owned by Phil Collins. Includes box but no manual. Free to a good home
If it's not good enough for Phil Collins, then it's not good enough for me
 13. same here too
 14. I'm thinking of buying a Hohner, just to swap with you! Love the JD bass any more pics?
 15.
The strings budget for their tours must have been unbelievable...
I don't think he's had to pay for a set of strings since he first left the Isle of Wight
 16. swap or sell for £99.99.

 19.
Im originally a big metal/rock loving man, and am learning the bass to play in such a band, but since i've been researching and learning i've noticed my ears are now partial to a bit of blues, jazz, and funk! I find myself putting on a bit of Jaco or Bootsy when i get in from work to rewind rather than my usual blend of Avenged, Atreyu, and Dio. Has anyone else found this or am i the only one going mad?
but does this work the other way round? For example, do Jazzers occasionally realise it could be beneficial to look outside their genre and take influences from elsewhere, and so listen to a bit of rock/metal/thrash etc?
 20. and another. Bump.
 21. If you visit the Bass Merchant, they have a room where you can take amps/cabs and wind them up as much as you want
 22.
Took my new bass to practice today. It's a Dean metalman explorer. Something's not right with it. The low end notes were very distorted and badly buzzing when playd, especially at high volume. It's got a brand new battery in it (It's active) and it wasn't the amp as it's done the same on my amp and the one at practice studio, plus I played my 5 string through both amps with no distortion or buzzing. Any ideas?
What's the set up like? Could be fret buzz coming through?
 23. Dana Strum - Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Slaughter - played flying V/Shark fin type basses..
