  1. the drummer in one of my bands does not venues that are 'too far away'. He's done that stinky poo before and can do without the hassle now.
  2. http://www.mehrclef.com/index.html The above used to run their course where I used to work. They were held in high regard by the punters that I talked to.
  3. I'm Jeff, and so's my wife!
  4. people are artistically free to make whatever noise they want, and I'm free to choose not to listen to it. Everyone's a winner!
  5. I'd just take my: https://www.snap-dragon-guitars.co.uk/snap-dragon-e-bass-4-p.asp Jeff are you planning/doing something similar to the Players School?
  6. We call them 'paid rehearsals'
  7. More so for originals bands.
  8. Right, well in the absence of anyone else doing, i've possibly got us a venue. It's in Southampton about a mile 1/2 away from where the M27 is a junction away from the M3. So not in Southampton centre, but easy to get to. The cost for the room - large room that can hold approx 150 people, with a small stage in a corner - is £180.00, £100.00 of which is a refundable deposit. There is ample private parking, and we can make noise. the only draw back is that it's on the first floor and there is no lift. How does that sound? Now we just need a date...
  9. welcome to Jeff and your lovely Cort basses!
  10. it's a good job The Macc Lads never got endorsed...
  11. ha! the filter follows legal precedent. As Johnny Rotten was quoted leaving the courtroom “Great! Bollocks is legal. Bollocks! Bollocks! Bollocks!”
  12. not necessarily so. If you find the word 'bollocks' (b0ll0cks in case the filter gets triggered!) offensive, I can tell you that you are wrong, because the verdict of Glitterbest/Virgin vs The Crown 1977 ruled it not to be.
  13. one for the tenuous claim to fame thread, but I was once in a band, with a vocalist whose father was friends with Sly.
  14. The Story of Funk, on the iPlayer. Well worth a watch even if you're not a funkster. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04t6nm5/the-story-of-funk-one-nation-under-a-groove?suggid=b04t6nm5

    oops

i think it's something to do with the painting 'Arrow' by Robert Ryman. Here's a clearer view. Not sure what is has to do with amps or cabs though?
  18. no love for Purple Chilli's 2x12?
  19. that was my dream amp (combo) back in the day.
  20. The eloquent erudite sesquipedalian 😎
  21. A good music pub had a 'refurb', ending up with lots of shiny hard surfaces. Even without music the sound was piercing and unpleasant.
  22. depends what you mean by 'metal'. Back in the day metal was spray on trousers and long hair, then it became baggy shorts and no hair. Now I'm not sure what it is 🤔
  23. except incest and folk-dancing.
  24. ah, that would be better.
  25. Fair enough, they played in Mo's Bar in Springfield.
