1. I'll bring them again
2. Good time had, even though I didn't manage to get around to checking out Cetera's Future Impact, The Greeks Elf, Ped's Wingbass (need to hook it up to a GR unit next time!), and generally try all the sexy basses that were about. Next year!
3. Three gigs in 4 days, but one was on guitar – so we won’t talk about that Part 1. Friday. Pub in Wimbledon, covers. Essentially this is a work band that’s got out of hand. We formed to play a work do, but then the vocalist was offered a gig at a pub he’d played at before, we were all up for it, so that meant having to learn another hours’ worth of material. Fortunately we can rehearse for free at work. At the gig songs from 90’s student bands, tended to get the whole place going. My rig was Shuker – Xvive U2 wireless – Digitech BP350 – Tec Amp Puma 500 – Tech Sound Systems 2x12 (custom speakers). A lot of the time fx unit was in bypass mode, with the amp settings flat. Big sound, worked well as a 3 piece band (+ vocalist). I kicked on the fx when I needed some chorus or distortion. We went down well, the pub increased their usual bar take, and further gigs have been booked. Part 2. Monday. Metal gig north London, originals. You know the kind of thing, 3 bands on a Monday night, and you all play to each other Nah tbf there was a small, but select, audience. Backline was provided, but I just DI’d from the Digitech. The monitor on my side of the stage was the clankiest POS ever. During the first song I went in to the crowd and to the back, to make sure the FOH sound wasn’t as bad, fortunately it sounded ok. Couldn’t really do anything about the monitor sound, as it was a quick line check then on, so just had to live with it. We were on first, and I saw the second band. Didn’t see the third which I feel bad about, but I wanted to leave before the Arsenal crowd kicked out and filled the tubes.
4. Me too. My basses all have low actions. I don't think they sound worse than when I tweak the action higher.
5.
Is it not cool to use a headstock tuner in public? I had no idea. No wonder I've been shunned and ostracised...
Like that's the reason

9. I have a half hour walk to rehearsal, when I use my Vertigo. Never had a problem with the straps.
10.
Yep, I'll have mine
Awesome
11. Is anyone bringing a Future Impact? *Looking hopeful*
12.
I'm sure MacDaddy will be able to bring his Shuker after all.
Yup, gig has been cancelled So Shukery goodness will be present
13.
I've had a message advising that 100 heads have arrived in the UK..... Kid...Xmas Eve...me.. I think you get it...
Maybe the Elf heads, like Santa, don't actually exist?
14. As I'm heading to a gig after the bash, and it's a band I play guitar, I will not have room to bring any Shukery goodness.
15. If he'd said 'lasso' instead of 'noose'...
16. Ped, are you going to the SE Bash? Shouldn't be too much trouble to bring this if you are?
17.
Great design on that drop-D - thanks for the extra pics
No worries. It's the juxtaposition of Kubicki and Status. I'm surprised they haven't thought before to combine the extra frets with the bendwell.
18. I've been asked for more pictures of the drop D, so here you go
19. i really would not like my gear to vanish!
20. I'll bring a couple of custom Shuker's, and a Snapdragon folding bass.
21.
I am Spartacus
I'm Spartacus, and so's my wife.
22.
Following the recent thread about stolen gear from a venue what security measures have been taken to stop this happening at bass bash?. Surelylanyards will be worn by attendees...
It's a fair question, but I've been to a few SE Bashes, and always felt comfortable leaving gear set up in one room while attending talks/jams etc in other rooms.
23. Bit of an update. I sent back mine, and have received a replacement. It's fine with all guitars at bedroom levels, but the test will be the next gig which unfortunately is not until September 2nd
24.
Oh yeah, I build studios for a living, been engineering for 30 years.
Muchos respect. I could probably work out where the volume is. Probably.
25. Do you really know what all those buttons do
