Scrumpymike - Please update my entry on the list - I will be bringing my Ashbory bass and my mint condition Crafter BA580EQ 5 string electric acoustic bass for sale. Also, if anyone has a Fender P or P/J 5 string or a G&L 2500 I would love to try these. Ta, Graham
Done. -

MoJoKe and BassBod added to the list - we're up to 34 now Re food, we've had a few kind offers of contributions but no need thanks - we're on top of it and will make sure there's enough for everybody. Provisional menu is: Continuous tea/coffee; sausage rolls; home-made veggie soup; chicken & ham pie*; home-made cheese coleslaw; home-made ratatouille; jacket tatties; home-baked banana loaf and apple cake. *our local butcher's finest The aim is to cover our costs with any balance being donated to a suitable charity. The way the numbers are shaping up, the £10 a head entrance takings should be enough to do that. -
Scrumpymike- Mike Gillett of Gillett Guitars is only just up the road near Bridgwater (I think it's Enmore) and i'm sure he would be happy to bring along his awesome acoustic basses. I had a play on some at the 2016 Bass Show. They are stunning and by far the best acoustic bass that I have tried. Mike's number is 01278 233010. ..just a suggestion. G
Wow, they look a bit special - great suggestion!! Invitation sent to Mike via his website contact address. Just up the road from me and I didn't even know about him. -
Sounds good. I'll aim to come with some home built basses from the 'Build Diaries'. Cheers
Great stuff! List updated accordingly. -
"Larry Coryell, one of jazz fusion's pioneering guitarists, died Sunday in his New York City hotel room of natural causes, according to his publicist. He had played gigs on Friday and Saturday night at the city's Iridium club and had a spate of summer tour dates on the horizon with his group the Eleventh House." Good to know he died with his boots on!

I've invited Scott Whitley too in case it fits in with his gigging schedule or possibly a meeting with Stephen Chown (Scott recently transferred the SWB-1 business to him). He says he'd like to come and I'm really hoping he'll be able to make it. I've got a pre-Chowny SWB-1 and it really is a neat bass. -

P1 listing updated. -
As someone who gigged Gibson basses for decades, what really does my head in about the current generation of Gibson management is that they've inherited an iconic brand and pissed it up against a wall (at least the bass side of things). In business terms, that's a very clumsy thing to do and as an ex-marketing guy I find it completely unfathomable. They've squandered a heritage that most companies could only dream of.

My trusty TE AH300SMC GP7. Bought it used - and in haste (untried) - for £300 from The Bass Centre to fill in while my AH500X (2 x 250W amps in one box) was having a noisy volume pot replaced. As soon as I hit that pre-shape button - that was it! The 300 became the 'keeper' and I sold the 500 when it came back from repair. 25 years on, it's still my main gig amp and hasn't let me down once.

NEWSFLASH!! Moved by the thought of so many bass players missing out on their Sunday dinners, Mrs. Scrumpy has volunteered to take on catering duties for the day. It won't be roast dinners all round but, whatever it is, it will be good. There'll be veggie options and anyone with other dietary requirements (caviar and truffles don't count) please pm me.
