She always looks very awkward when she is playing bass. Efficient and a decent player, but she doesn't look comfortable to me
I don't think looking comfortable was a requirement of TH membership - wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Byrne actively discouraged it

I've probably got more free time than most on this forum so I'll pick this one up if no-one has any objections - maybe aim for May/June? Could invite Steven Chowny to come along with a few of his basses. How would you feel about making it a South-West bash rather than specifically Bristol? I'm sure I could find a more flexible / user-friendly / cheaper venue between Bristol and Taunton within easy reach of the M5, e.g. one of the many nice village halls around these parts.

WITHDRAWN Fender Rascal s-s - now £495 del'd UK
scrumpymike replied to scrumpymike's topic in Basses For Sale
Bump - and £50 price reduction to £545 for a very special bass that's good as new. Here's what Fender said about it at launch time: "Originally created in the Fender Custom Shop by Master Builder Jason Smith, the Rascal Bass joins the Fender lineup as a sleek short-scale Classic Player model loaded with distinctive features and personality. With its ’60s-era Bass VI body, three Seymour Duncan lipstick Stratocaster pickups, 30” scale and gorgeous gloss Ocean Turquoise finish with matching Coronado-style headstock, there’s no other Fender bass like the Rascal. Other premium features include a flat-sawn maple neck with a comfortable “C”-shaped profile, 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and special inlay scheme (bass-side dot markers from 3rd to 9th frets, double dots at 12th fret, treble-side dot markers from 15th to 21st frets), vintage-style heel-end truss rod adjustment, white pearloid pick-guard, five-way pickup switch with chrome 'barrel' tip, push-pull master volume control that delivers seven pickup configurations, master tone control, distinctive bridge with four adjustable steel 'barrel' saddles, vintage-style tuners and more. Short or Tall, Young or Seasoned this is a fun but professional bass that anyone will enjoy." -

Chris = Squire; Basses = Squier. That is all.
'Bass' (musical instrument) pronounced 'Base'. Bass (fish) pronounced 'Bass'. Basswood pronounced 'Basswood' not 'Basewood' Welcome to pedants corner.
According to Apostrophe, the Greek goddess of punctuation, it's 'pedants' corner'... In defence of pedants, most of them (OK, us) just love language as much as music and seeing the wrong word hurts just like hearing a bum note. -
Any incorrect use of the Saxon genitive is my particular frustration. Yes, proud OCD owner.
Absolutely, let's not abuse the Saxon genitals! -
I don't think they understood the magic they created. Truly more than the sum of the parts...
Spot on there mate - each one a giant in his own right and, as already mentioned, the best band I've ever seen for knowing when not to play. Tempted to get tickets but I'm a bit worried that I might enjoy them less than a top 'Free' tribute band. Saw one about 15 years back - called Freeway I think - and they were blindingly good. Seeing/hearing Paul Rogers in the flesh might just be enough to tip the balance.
What's your thoughts on the Eden? Got a review anywhere for it?
I'm pleased I got it but maybe haven't spent enough time with it yet to feel comfortable about recommending it to others - especially because I've recently bought a bunch of other stuff as well and I'm still getting my head round it all. Before buying the amp I read this http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/7_Micro_Bass_Amp_Heads_for_Any_Budget?page=5 and the Basschat / Talkbass forum stuff that a Google search (amp make/model + review) brought up. Bargain price was a big factor for me too as it's a back-up for my TE.

All sounds good to me mcnach, and I love the colour - kind of 'Off-Purple Rain'
Oh... I opened the box to take the gig bag out, easier to transport later. But... it's empty!!!! Well, it must be empty. It weighs nothing!
That bodes well for my chambered s-s Elwood with alu bridge and lightweight tuners - still no sofa shot yet though! Hoping it won't get delayed by the NAMM stuff.

Met up with Kev last night to exchange my wad of cash for his BF cabs. All good - had a great chat over coffee at motorway services and left enriched by the experience. Long live the Basschat forum, to which Kev is a great contributor!

OK, so finally got my head round the above multiple-image post with a bit of help from moderator Kevvo66 (plus the fact that the madness that is Botophucket has settled down a bit). The pics were taken yesterday when the weather/light levels were really poor but I've done my best to show the true condition of this bass. If anything, the flash-lit images have accentuated the minor marks. When viewed in 'normal' light all you see IMHO is a pleasing 'patina' consistent with a classic bass that's been well looked after.
How do they mix the band's sound? Does each one only worries about being able to listen to his own instrument? Not very professional, especially if they're being payed for the gig... IMO and IME most punters will judge a band for it's sound, if the sound is bad the band is bad and not worth staying in the pub to listen to them.
Agreed! For pub gigs and similar I always have a trusted pair of ears in the audience.

Interesting to see how impressed Andyjr was with the quality as received (i.e. before he modded it) of the HB he's just customised. Basically sound as a pound (before our recent currency collapse that is). Btw I also noted a sequence of incredibly tasty looking HB basses flashing up on my screen when I Googled NAMM 2017 to check out this year's new stuff. Haven't got round to following up on them yet.
