  1. What a beautiful track - not heard that before. Cracking transcription - can see why it took so long.
  2. With royalties eroded, guess we can expect to see more humiliation of successful musicians w*nking for coins. Shame we never got to see Lemmy on I'm a Celebrity.. or Ralf Hutter on Bake Off etc..
  3. Terry is great. Highly recommended. Why do you not want to use Martin @ Gallery ?
  4. Sounds like you're sold on Aguilar. It's great gear - been using TH500 for years now. Assuming you like the sound and controls, the small footprint and light weight are a winner. I run TH500 into TKS S112 cabs (worth checking, I switched from getting SL112's to these..). Generally one cab enough, larger gigs I might take both but generally for show as will be mainly DI anyway...
  5. @BrunoBass Curious how this ended. Did you play the gig?
  6. Take a punt and get it. If it doesn’t work for you just sell it here.
  7. Maruszczyk built me v similar spec (24 unlined, swamp ash / ebony, Aguilar JJ ) for under £2k. Their configurator is addictive but they’ll also meet other requests not listed. *Alpher look great, been admiring them for a while. British too

  9. It's not bad for the bass, but yes you would need to be comfortable doing your own set up - not the dark art many fear it is. Probably not what you want to be doing regularly to something high end or vintage, but if you had the money for that, you'd have the money for a proper flight case
  10. Phil Jones kit is made for this, albeit not the cheapest. Done many a low key gig with PJ Double 4 - puts out huge sound for the size, holds their own against cocktail kit drums.. Also serves as great home practice amp.
  11. Thinning the herd. a trio of Squiers bought over the past few years. Provided much enjoyment at various times and filled necessary gaps, but now only serving to make the bass rack look impressive from a distance. Time to go somewhere they'll get played. Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass IV Active, 3TS £140 [SOLD] Squier Jaguar, Black £150 [SOLD] Squier Jazz Fretless, 3TS £130 [SOLD] Postage £25 per bass but would rather meet up. Work in E14, live BR3. Collection possible at either, also happy to meet halfway if you’re in / near London. I also regularly travel between London and the Kent coast, on the offchance that might be relevant.
  12. Was lucky enough to attend too. My main takeout was HF attributing his gains to transcription and just putting the hours in - not some innate gift, which is sort of encouraging. Seeing them play together up close was pretty mind blowing , insane technical facility. Fun day out, looking forward to seeing the eventual SBL vid.
  13. assuming your ‘flea jazz’ is the trad JJ passive (not the active humbucker one) - fitting a decent pre amp or pedal would give you more control here
  14. ‘Trying to help a new TalkBass member’ ?! tell them they’re on the wrong site! fyi Kijiji is eBay , just different brand name in Canada

    5 Strings

Yep just get out and play as many as you can. Don't personally agree you want the same string spacing as your 4 string but we're all different - you just need to see what feels right. I took a punt on this £108 workhorse as my main back up, totally servicable and playable.. Getting your technique off to a good start is as important as the bass. This lesson also worth a look
  16. Fascinating background from @molan on retailing these I’d not really joined the dots before on how the proliferation of cheaper lines have dented the Warwick brand - and in part explains the soft second hand values. With MetroExpress at £800 it won’t be long before you can get a used bass with Sadowsky on the headstock for under £500. Obviously Roger & co have ran the numbers and are comfortable it all works - maybe Sadowsky is shifting towards the Sire market.
  17. Keen pricing on the Tesco Metro Express. Not much distance between Masterbuilt and NYC..
  18. Don't worry - we won't be paying import duty from USA soon
  19. I owned the SR2405W for a while , it was what turned me onto the SuperDoubles. Agree the Ibanez pre is nasty, just doesn’t work on that bass - only sounds nice passive. I’ve since had a Roscoe built with SuperDoubles and opted for OBP3. I play a lot of jazz and thought I might miss the passive option but the OBP3 is warm / nuanced enough that I haven’t yet. Sounds great just with dials centred, and tweak depending on venue. Doesn’t need much help. Can’t go wrong with East of course, sure that would sound good too.
  20. From what we know, they’re still in ok financial shape and own about 25% of the market, so they’re doing something right. Possibly we, the vocal BC minority aren’t their target market. It’s natural they’re going to be paralysed by past success (and Gibsons mis steps), and terrified of cannibalising existing business. Their ‘configurator’ is a joke next to anyone else’s. There’s obviously a plan behind all this. Shame we can’t see their financials, be interesting to see what they make where.
  21. Guess the line up is pretty much as we’ve come to expect, given their last 70 years of R&D. What was particularly funny about this launch was the huge preamble with teaser vids and a big reveal date. Think the strapline was ‘changing the way you play forever’. Guy Fawkes night in the UK. Not quite firewood but some way from fireworks. Maybe an indoor firework ..
  22. Thread revival once again. New build from Keith & co. Walnut / swamp ash, Aguilar Superdoubles
